Memories – Gunhild Carling Big Band 2006
In this clip the band features trumpetplayer Erik Bendalen. He has performed as a soloist in Norway, Holland, Spain, Italy, Japan, Australia and also the USA and is now trumpet player and arranger of Gunhild’s big band. He has run through the repertoires of King Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton, the big band styles of the forties and even the bebop and even cool ways of the sixties and seventies, basically if needed Erik plays “everything goes” jazz.
Also very interesting is the fact that Gunhild plays an intro and then accompanies Erik on harp. No further comment on that. She just plays harp as well, and .... with the necessary “schwung”. She then comes back to improvise a beautiful trombone solo. Another brilliant performance.
