Back Home again in Indiana Armstrong 1960
In my Lp and CD collection I have several Louis Armstrong Live Concerts and all of these have "Back home again in Indiana" as the first tune in Louis' show.
Through the years even the arrangement has stayed exactly the same.
Even many of the notes played are virtually the same.
Billy Kyle plays the same intro, then two full ensembles into the piano solo. Louis comes out of that, then bassist Billy Cronk who has replaced Arvell Shaw plays his own different sounding solo. Then Joe Darensburg is new in the band and of course has his own solo. The The last soloist is Trummy Young on trombone. More than 10 years in the band he plays almost the same solo as on many of the records and the final ensemble has the drum breaks by Danny Barcelona.
Funny enough, you don't expect it to be any different
I have been at a live concert in the Netherlands in 1965 and the first tune was Indiana as well, in the same arrangement. That's Louis!
