Way down yonder in New Orleans Wilcox 1987

Spiegle Wilcox in the recording studio with Climax Jazz Band in Toronto in 1987.
We had met Spiegle Wilcox approximately a year earlier in one of the clubs we played.
From his home in New York State he was on a visit to friends in Brampton and wondered if there was any jazz locally. His friends took him to this club and when he walked in I recognized him instantly. (Just a day before I had watched and taped the documentary "Bix" in which Spiegle had been interviewed several times. He had not seen the movie, I mailed him a copy and we became friends.) I asked him if he would like to sit in and ( like most of us do) he just happened to have his horn in the trunk of the car ( like most of us do) outside the club.
Spiegle made quite a few more visits to Toronto and we invited him to record with the band. Somewhere there is a professionally made cassette which I have lost unfortunately.
George Aug, the father of our young drummer Jamie, videotaped some of the recording session
Here is a short glimpse of Spiegle Wilcox with Climax Jazz Band. Sorry about the quality. It is just a beautiful memory.
