Kenyan Environment Warrior - Wangari Muta Maathai -The Hummingbird (1940 - 2011)

"We can drum up God all night. We can pray all night. But if we allow a few greedy and selfish people to destroy our forests in this fashion, then we deserve to die, to starve & to be held in contempt by other people". When the history of the heroines of Kenya will be written, not so far from the apex will be Wangari Maathai. We owe our current culture of environmental conservation majorly to her foresight.
