Centar Film was established by the wish of the members of The Association of Film Workers and Artists of the Federal Republic of Serbia in Belgrade in 1966. Initially, as a Service for Film Work Communities which brought together authors, promoted initiatives, and created the conditions to materialize joint striving of the creative spirit of film production. At the beginning of the 1970s, the Service was renamed to The Center of Film Work Communities, only to finally transform into Centar Film in 1978. Founded by the initiative of a screenplay writer and actor Dušan Perković, the director of film production and distribution, Centar Film was the initiator of international collaborations and agreements on coproduction between film companies.
