As a child, I remember hearing my father and grandfather's bluegrass band practicing in the living room. At age four, I asked my parents if I could begin taking violin lessons so I could join in. Violin was my first instrument and started my love for music.
As I got a little older, I began to sing and was particularly drawn to pop music because of the catchy melodies I would hear on the radio. I also became fascinated with the structure of harmony and would sit in my room for hours singing songs and adding bizarre harmony parts. Around the time that I entered high school, I started listening to powerful female singers songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Patti Griffin. I loved that their lyrics were so interesting and tangible. I started writing my own songs and began the journey that I am on now.
After graduating from Appalachian State University with a degree in audio engineering and classical violin, I moved to Nashville to work with producers Ron Oates and Butch Baker on an album for Warner Brothers Records. Since then I have had the opportunity to write with many amazing songwriters including Wade Kirby, Marv Green, Darrell Scott, Tia Sellers, Bob Regan, Mark Sanders, Hillary Lindsey, and Marcus Hummon. I've also been fortunate enough to work with some great creative producers including Paul Worley and John Leventhal. I currently work as a singer, songwriter, violinist and vocal producer and engineer, and am so blessed to get to do what I love every day.
