PRESENTED BY TOM MILLETT
The band formed in room 25 of Clonakilty Community College one nice evening after a long day in school, sometime in late September '04. It was the result of members from three other rival bands in the school at the time: Ciaran comig from Karnage, Dec from Karizma and Aidan and Patrick from Feud. It was decided by the two brainstormers of this project, (Ciaran and Patrick) that it sould be a band with a difference, something no other band in Clon had attempted before, and it was worth the risk. A talented local traditional musician, who happened to be friendly with them, was to be added to the final lineup and she didn't hesitate for a moment to seize this experience; Dolcie Keogh. After a couple of months scraping together a set list, Setmaker's first public appearence was in De Barra's Folk Club as the opening act at an Amnesty International charity gig. The young pretenders had a lot to live up to as they were followed by two rather expericnced, fantastic acts in Alan Tobin and Mongoose, but they successfully came off stage to a great response and a smile on their face and it wasn't the last time to their delight!! Setmaker find it hard getting together for rehersals as Aidan and Dolcie both have time consuming jobs but regular live shows means the set is ever growing. There are hopes to record over the summer and have a demo released asap but for the moment its living for the live shows. A further insight will be available at a later date.
