PRESENTED BY CAMILLE BROUGHT TO YOU BY
RACE CAFE -- THE ESPRESSO BAR  www.racecafeonline.com.au

After 11 years of guitar based band work, multi-instrumentalist JEKKS
has now taken sitar under his wing. Starting with the violin and branching
out to cello, double bass, bass guitar, guitar, keyboards, drums, percussion,
circuit bending and audio visual manipulation JEKKS has independently
released 1 EP in 2009, 3 in 2010 and 1 so far for 2011 with
plans for more.
2009 saw the debut release of Nebula Productions with JEKKS' group
The IV Horseman, supporting the release with shows in Ipswich and
Brisbane.
After a short 3 month break to study drum building and shamanism
2010 saw JEKKS branching out into the more experimental, releasing a
noise EP, guitar and drums duo HALT! OKAY! TURN!'s Ep and
JEKKS and The Priests of Heka's Debut EP supported by performances
in Brisbane.
2011 has seen the arrival of more collaborators, frequently jamming
and recording with JEKKS in his home studio "The Nebucave" for the
follow up to Lakshana EP (Jan 2011). JEKKS and The Priests of Heka
plan to release an EP and full length by November.
Face paint and masks are a common site onstage alongside sitar, djembes,
laptop and a host of other instruments to aid JEKKS and The
Priests of Heka in taking their audience on a journey through to the Bazaar
and back.
With His Sitar in one hand and laptop in the other JEKKS will be
showcasing the musical versatility of The Priests of Heka throughout
2011 in Brisbane and South East Queensland from quiet acoustic gigs
with hand drums to electronic fusion sets to full band concerts and beyond
