BALCONYTV DUBLIN 21/02/2009
PRESENTED BY PAULINE FREEMAN
Having twice headlined their own shows at The Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the prestigious Pigalle Club following a sell out launch at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, Eoghan Gallagher's Gloriosa are a unique and innovative band well on their way to taking their music to a global audience.

The group features some world class musicians including John Idan of the legendary Yardbirds, David Satyan who won the Deuxieme Prix at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2008, Ian Cape (London Symphony Orchestra, Lemar) Sean Davis (Lost & Found Orchestra). The music combines elements of soul, folk, pop, blues, RnB, jazz and classical as a soundscape for their songs.

Early demo recordings have been well received with Hot Press noting a 'superb line-up' delivering 'a fine effort'. The Irish Post highlighted a sound that 'resembles the eclectic sound of the Buena Vista Social Club.' Gallagher initially set the band up in 2002 with Tahlia Marvin (daughter of Hank of The Shadows fame) and Conor Donovan (percussion Damien Rice's 'O') and while that line-up never gigged, it paved the way for the triumphant sell-out launch at the National Concert Hall in Dublin in 2005 with Richard Boughton (Bell X1, Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra) a highlight on piano.

Gallagher also performs the songs in solo acoustic sets and has performed solo at the Hippodrome in Golders Green. He has also accompanied Number 1 selling US Gospel artist Juanita Bynum, performed with Donal Lunny, been broadcast on national radio and mentored some internationally recognised artists on the subjects of music and business (Gallagher holds a business degree from DCU) including No.1 Youtube artist of all time Mia Rose, with whom he appeared on Portuguese TV, LB Dope of Alabama 3 and other major label artists. In his capacity as a promoter he recently had the privilege of presenting guitarist Christian Saggese considered by El Pais as being 'among the best guitarists in Europe' at the Royal Opera House.

In 2007 Eoghan featured in a speaking role in Reebok's global Run Easy TV commercials alongside Thierry Henry, Allen Iversen and other celebrities. He has busked professionally around London's satellite towns and has been in bands since attending secondary school. He first picked up the guitar at the age of 12 as a student of the internationally renowned guitarist Tommy Halferty and formed a band with his school friends who included Jude Shiels (son of Brush). This whole thing seriously kicked off while busking with a friend on Circular Quay in Sydney around the Millenium
