00:00Simon and Adam Yates, Carapaz, Pidcock, Caruso, Piconsoli, Ciccone, Bernal, Bardet and Gordieu.
00:09It's a big list.
00:10Yeah, it's a big list and today the last climb is demanding but the steep section isn't too long.
00:17So it's fair to say we could expect some gaps in between the GC contenders but not too much.
00:23So it will be very interesting to see the approach, especially...
00:28Davide Formolo as well.
00:30Good to see him on the offensive from Movistar.
00:33Often see him towards the front actually in the neutralised rollouts.
00:35Davide Formolo, he seems habitually to pop up by the race director's car.
00:40And it's straight uphill now.
00:42The flag drops.
00:43Everyone's a little bit inhibited and the first attack comes from VF group Bardiani.
00:50It's a rather predictable attack and predictable move.
00:53And so far no one's showing any real inclination to go after him.
00:56Although you can see Driste Bont there slowly revving up by the looks of it.
01:01It's him going after, taking another teammate with him as well.
01:08Yeah, it might be.
01:10And again, UA team member, it's part of it.
01:14That will almost guarantee a reaction from Red Bull Borderhandsgrave, shutting it down, I would imagine.
01:19I think it's Brandon McNulty who's got a cross.
01:20As Lorenzo Fortunato then goes in search of those nine points.
01:23Diego Ulyssi riding on to try and deny Sylvain Monique any chance of coming past him.
01:29But Monique up against an Astana duo here.
01:33Lorenzo Fortunato, Ulyssi almost acting as a backmarker.
01:36It's quite interesting that actually.
01:38Ulyssi's just looking out for where Monique is, doing a really good job for his teammate
01:41and guaranteeing that Monique is boxed out of second place and only picks up.
01:49This is continuing pedaling, but definitely, I would expect.
01:55Oh, is that Pedersen?
01:57I haven't seen him drop.
01:58Is that the Malia Rosa?
01:59He was in the peloton.
02:00He is him.
02:01There he is.
02:01So, Mass Pedersen might be going down in a blaze of glory,
02:05but is fully intending to make a big show of it.
02:08So, the Malia Rosa himself is going on the offensive to try to get across to Jay Vine.
02:13Chapeau, what a way to defend that jersey for one final time.
02:17Yeah.
02:18Clearly, it's such a fine form yesterday.
02:22He didn't contest it in the sprint.
02:24He was calling the crash and then was it for yesterday for the Malia Rosa.
02:29So, I definitely would be eager to contest him.
02:32Well, I'm not sure about Tarotti on his wheel in the light blue.
02:37He's glued to Tonelli's wheel.
02:41And looks like you're right.
02:42Alessandro Tonelli, unopposed, goes over the line in first place to add to his tally.
02:48Another 15, sorry, 12 points going his way.
02:53Yeah, so it was Tonelli, Tarozzi and Scarone.
02:55Pulled double.
02:56It's pulled double.
02:57Scarone is a few places back.
02:59And a big effort there from Manoelli Tarozzi.
03:02Head bobbing to try and out sprint.
03:03Pulled double, but double's going to get there.
03:05Takes 18 points.
03:06Tarozzi in second place.
03:06Christian Scarone in third.
03:08Looking around and checking where Tonelli is.
03:10150 meter from the top of the climb.
03:12It's pulled double close immediately in the gap on him.
03:14It's a long way out from Manoelli Tarozzi.
03:16Can he hold him off?
03:17Still got 100 meters to go.
03:19And it slightly flattens off towards the top.
03:22But pull double made that look very easy.
03:24He looks to the left, just checks again.
03:26And he's beaten Tarozzi for the second time.
03:28In a very easy manner.
03:30So, again, we got...
03:33Accelerates to the front.
03:35Alessandro Tonelli.
03:36Nobody is looking to take those points off him.
03:38And he'll pick up 12 more.
03:40So, as you were for Tonelli, he adds 24 points today to his total in the Inter-Giro.
03:46Which, at the moment, he is running away with as a competition.
03:49As Pedersen has said, as he hits the front now, and helps Dan Hull set the pace.
03:55And that tells you everything that you need to know about the discussion we were just having, actually.
03:59If he was intent on really believing he could defend that jersey today,
04:03Maz Pedersen would not be riding on the front.
04:05So, he has had the support of his team to get to this point in the Giro d'Italia.
04:09And now, henceforth, I mean, he's going to be looking for stage wins.
04:13Absolutely.
04:19I mean, he's going to be looking for stage wins.
04:49To commit behind.
04:58And I don't know who he's willing to commit that much.
05:02So, now he's...
05:03That could change fairly quickly if a team like UAE does commit with their talent and their dedicated purpose.
05:10But, if we look at the bunch there, you can see it's all flat and wide across the front,
05:14which suggests that no one team is...
05:16To the back, just staying up towards the front of this group.
05:18Looking for the opportunity to come off the wheel, if he can, and take those six bonus seconds.
05:24There's the arch in front.
05:261.23 the advantage, which is precisely Paul Double's disadvantage in the general classification.
05:32So, now it tips back and he is no longer the virtual leader of the race.
05:38And he's not going to get the seconds either.
05:39So, eschewing the effort required to go after those, it's Tarozzi from Tonelli with Leimreza in third place, which is a bit surprising.
05:48Yeah.
05:48Arm warmers.
05:50And here we are at the back of the peloton, Mats Pedersen.
05:52That's nice, isn't it?
05:53Yeah.
05:53Really nice moment, Luke Platt there, just congratulating Mats Pedersen.
05:56To the left and he became, not narrower, but steeper.
06:00And Zroglic is a little bit isolated, but he's well positioned right behind Baran Victorious and alongside one Ayuso.
06:10That is it.
06:11The climbing is pretty much done.
06:13The road is going to flatten that.
06:14Bernal doggedly sticking to the wheel of the Mexican.
06:16Giacconi on his wheel.
06:19As Ayuso is still leading the way up.
06:22As Bernal is screaming things, I don't think he quite had the legs.
06:26He's prized him clear.
06:27Juan Ayuso now has gone clear.
06:29Ayuso motoring clear of the field.
06:32Juan Ayuso of UAE team Emirates bursts into life of the Giro d'Italia.
06:36An explosive acceleration.
06:38He's going to take the win and he's going to win with a big gap.
06:41That is hugely impressive from Juan Ayuso.
06:44What a statement he's made here.
06:46He waited.
06:47He was patient.
06:48And when he delivered the blow, it was an absolute killer move from Juan Ayuso.
06:52A winner of the Giro d'Italia.
06:54The battle for second place is going to go the way of his teammate, Isaac Del Toro.
06:59It's all UAE at the finish line.
07:01Bernal in a brilliant third place.
07:03Roglic out of the bonus seconds.
07:05He said that Roglic was drifting back a little bit.
07:07He decided it was time to give it a go and it dropped from the wheel Bernal.
07:11And it was, it is a one-two for UAE team Emirates.
07:15You want to use a winning the stage and very likely to be wearer of the pink jersey.
07:20Let's see.
07:21With the bonuses and the gaps in between Roglic, who seems like quite at ease at the moment.
07:26I don't know, I've seen a smile on his face.
07:28And Isaac Del Toro came home with a second place as seems like Ciccone was third, Bernal.
07:34And Roglic actually was out of the picture, but he reappeared to be at the same time as Isaac Del Toro.
07:43So in the very first chasing group, we could say.
07:45My feeling is, my feeling is that Juan Ayuso hasn't quite got a big enough gap.
07:51He would have had an eight, had to win with an eight-second gap over Primoz Roglic.
07:55And I don't think it's an eight-second gap.
07:57Certainly a gap.
07:58And it does take ten seconds for the win.
08:00It's going to be very close between Del Toro himself, who could even be in pink.
08:30And I don't think it's going to be very close between Del Toro himself, who could even be in pink.
09:00And your first Grand Tour victory, do you feel that it's a big step in your career today, a big step in your Giro d'Italia?
09:21Yes, for sure.
09:22I mean, it's my fourth Grand Tour, especially in the Tubotas Espana as I raced.
09:29Sometimes I was very close, but yeah, I never managed to pull it off.
09:34And to finally do it today, my first Giro d'Italia is something super special.
09:38And I will always remember.
09:40Have you improvised what you have done today, this acceleration at the end?
09:44I mean, I knew that I only had to do one attack.
09:50I couldn't mess around and do one or two or three.
09:54And in these finals, which are super explosive, you only have one bullet to waste.
09:59So I let others start attacking before.
10:02And then when I saw my distance, I went full gas and into the finish.
10:07Second on GC, only four seconds behind Primoz Roglic.
10:11Is that the ideal situation at this stage of the Giro?
10:15Yeah, I mean, it was really important today to not only get to win, but, you know, leave with a good feeling that, you know,
10:23to try and recover that time I lost in the time trial.
10:27So for sure it's something, you know, it gives a lot of confidence for the upcoming days.
10:33And yeah, I hope tomorrow we save the day.
10:36Then Siena comes, which is a very, very difficult day for us, for the GC guys.
10:41So I hope I can arrive to the rest day in the front.
10:46Muchas gracias.
