00:00Mr. Speaker, I was a history teacher, and I know that we have to be documenting this
00:05moment.
00:06When we look back, I don't want anyone to say that we didn't know what was happening.
00:10Trump advisor Stephen Miller, and perhaps the most joyless man in America, recently
00:15said that Trump is actively looking at suspending the writ of habeas corpus.
00:21I'm sorry.
00:22What?
00:23What?
00:24Habeas corpus is the right we all have to challenge in court.
00:29If we are detained and locked up, without it, it means any of us can be locked up with
00:35no cause.
00:36It can only be suspended by Congress, by us.
00:42Americans, please hear me.
00:45Who are we?
00:47Who are we if we let Trump abandon our core principle that no one in this country will be imprisoned
00:54unlawfully?
00:56This is about liberty, and there is nothing more importantly than our liberty.
01:03I yield back.
01:05For what?
