US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appears before the House Appropriations Committee, defending cuts in the Trump administration's proposed budget for the Department of Health and Human Services. “We intend to do more, a lot more with less. The budget I’m presenting today supports these goals and reflects two enduring American values, compassion and responsibility,” Kennedy tells the House Appropriations Committee. 01:05Vaccine programs for millions of Americans, including children, we do that so that they do not get these diseases, like measles.
01:13This is not a waste.
01:14We will fund cutting-edge research at the NIH while cutting risky or non-essential services.
01:21That includes ending of gain-of-function experiments and research based upon radical gender ideology.
01:29At the CDC, we'll return to its core missions, tracking disease, investigating outbreaks, and sustaining public health infrastructure while cutting waste.
01:40And I'll add, in response to your critique about the measles, we are doing a better job at CDC today than any nation in the world at controlling this measles outbreak.
01:52Free abortion is a tragedy.
01:54I don't believe that our nation can live up to its role as a moral authority around the globe when we have hundreds of thousands, if not million, abortions per year in our country.
02:06And under President Trump's leadership, I have ended federal funding to the kind of the programs that, overseas programs that fund abortions or counsel abortions.
02:36He knows the news that we have been living in our country.
