US Health Secretary RFK Jr defends the Trump administration's massive HHS budget cuts

US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appears before the House Appropriations Committee, defending cuts in the Trump administration's proposed budget for the Department of Health and Human Services. “We intend to do more, a lot more with less. The budget I’m presenting today supports these goals and reflects two enduring American values, compassion and responsibility,” Kennedy tells the House Appropriations Committee. "Under your watch, our country is now failing to contain vaccine preventable diseases," says Democratic Representative Rosa DeLauro criticizing Kennedy's controversial comments about vaccines.

00:00We focused on achieving these goals while cutting costs to taxpayers. We intend to do more, a lot more, with less.
00:08The budget I'm presenting today supports these goals and reflects two enduring American values, compassion and responsibility.
00:16I invite the committee to unite around these ideals with me.
00:20The United States remains the sickest developed nation, and we spend $4.5 trillion annually on health care.
00:28Two to three times more per capita than comparable nations.
00:33Clearly, something is structurally and systemically wrong with our approach.
00:40Under your watch, our country is now failing to contain vaccine-preventable diseases, measles.
00:45A disease eliminated in the United States just decades ago has now claimed the lives of three Americans, including two children who died needlessly.
00:53And over 1,000 are confirmed to have contracted the disease.
00:56All while you peddle unfounded and dangerous vaccine skepticism, spread lies and misinformation about people living with autism.
01:05Vaccine programs for millions of Americans, including children, we do that so that they do not get these diseases, like measles.
01:13This is not a waste.
01:14We will fund cutting-edge research at the NIH while cutting risky or non-essential services.
01:21That includes ending of gain-of-function experiments and research based upon radical gender ideology.
01:29At the CDC, we'll return to its core missions, tracking disease, investigating outbreaks, and sustaining public health infrastructure while cutting waste.
01:40And I'll add, in response to your critique about the measles, we are doing a better job at CDC today than any nation in the world at controlling this measles outbreak.
01:52Free abortion is a tragedy.
01:54I don't believe that our nation can live up to its role as a moral authority around the globe when we have hundreds of thousands, if not million, abortions per year in our country.
02:06And under President Trump's leadership, I have ended federal funding to the kind of the programs that, overseas programs that fund abortions or counsel abortions.
02:36He knows the news that we have been living in our country.
02:38He never has been living in our country with over-move in our country.
02:40He works for his peace in the world on the globe.
02:41He knows his work for his moniker.
02:42He's a progressive man-of- kings.
02:43He knows what our nation has been increasing in the world at the most alignment夢.
02:45If we're in the world at the same time, we're in the world at the same time, we're in the world where our nation has been considering.
02:47So, try and make things to be better.
02:49Through this Islamic government has been aware of the national security.
02:50So, we'll be hearing our national security 같습니다.
02:53We'll be in front of our nation-wide and national security scene.
02:55We're in the world of Cape State University.
