00:00Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli says he was being cynical when he urged party delegates on Monday to vote for his rival, Nurul Izzah Anwar, as the next PKR Deputy President.

00:14Rafizi said he had intended to show how PKR and its president, Anwar Ibrahim, were stuck between a rock and a hard place, given only two possible outcomes in the race for the Deputy Presidency.

00:26He pointed out that if Nurul Izzah wins, it would be seen as nepotism, while a loss would be viewed as a rejection of Anwar by his own party.

00:35He said the party had reached a point where any outcome would carry a burden and the heaviest burden would fall on Anwar.

00:42Rafizi and Nurul Izzah are in a one-on-one contest for the PKR Deputy Presidency, which Rafizi won in the 2022 party elections.

00:51Rafizi advised younger PKR members, hoping to contest future party elections, to think long and hard before proceeding, saying that every action carries consequences.

01:01He also called for calm within the party, acknowledging that there had been a series of personal attacks against both sides over the past few days.
