00:00Mr. Speaker, you can try to rewrite history, but it just doesn't work.
00:04Let me just read off the Democrat-run cities that did defund the police.
00:08And here's the game the Democrats won.
00:10All during the summer of 2020, they were saying defund the police.
00:13Democrats-run cities all over the country were doing so.
00:16And now they say, oh, but we want the federal taxpayers because crime went up when we defunded the police.
00:20We want federal taxpayers to send us money to make up for the cuts we did there,
00:24and we spent the money elsewhere.
00:25That was the game.
00:26If you don't believe me, here's the list.
00:29Austin, Texas, $150 million cut.
00:32Boston, Massachusetts, $12 million cut.
00:35Burlington, Vermont, $1.1 million.
00:37Denver, Colorado, $55 million.
00:40Eureka, California, $1.2 million.
00:42Hartford, Connecticut, $2 million.
00:43Kansas City, Kansas, $42 million.
00:45Los Angeles, $150 million.
00:47Madison, Wisconsin, $2 million cut.
00:49Minneapolis, $8 million.
00:50New York, New York City, $1 billion cut that summer.
00:56Norman, Oklahoma, $865,000.
00:59Oklahoma City, $5.5 million.
01:01Philadelphia, $33 million.
01:02Portland, Oregon, $16 million.
01:04Salt Lake City, $5.3 million.
01:06San Francisco, $120 million.
01:08Seattle, Washington, $69 million.
01:11Washington, D.C., $15 million.
01:13And we know about the crime that's happened in this city.
01:16And, of course, in the ranking member's home state of Maryland, Baltimore cut their police department $22 million.
01:22And now they're saying, oh, make sure the federal money keeps coming.
01:28And, look, I'm not against some of these grant programs, but we'll look at all those.
01:31But don't say you didn't cut the defund the police.
01:34You did.
01:35Everyone knows you did, and you all talked about it, and you cheered it on.
01:39You said for the bad guys who harmed the police that summer when you were encouraging cities to cut the police,
01:44the bad guys who were putting you, you were raising money to bail them out.
01:47But your presidential candidate was raising money to bail them out.
01:52So you can have all the revisionist history you want.
01:56The facts are the facts.
01:57And with that, I reserve.
