Transport for London (TfL) has been criticised for poor communication after a power outage caused disruption to its train services on Monday.
Transcript
00:00We've been covering how a number of tube and train lines were disrupted, as well as a number of major tube and train stations closed on Monday after a power outage.
00:12The watchdog London Travel Watch has now said TFL should quote unquote do much better in how it provides information to passengers when things go wrong.
00:24They said it was disappointing to see the lack of information and updates on TFL's own social media feeds, particularly as other train operators were keeping passengers updated.
00:38Commenting on some TFL website issues at the time of increased traffic, they said directing all passengers to their website is not practical.
00:49If the site then crashes and people need to receive up to date information in order to continue their journeys with the least disruption.
01:00They added passengers also need reassurance that public transport services will be more resilient to future incidents such as this.
01:11This is the second time in the space of two months a power outage has caused significant travel disruption in London.
01:20The previous time in Hayes when a substation caught fire leading to Heathrow shutting down.
01:27A substation caught fire in Maida Vale just a few weeks ago and that same substation was on fire again on Monday as a result of this malfunction that caused loss of power.
01:41I think many of us will be scratching our heads.
