'I am not angry' says UK man freed after 38 years wrongfully jailed  A British man who spent 38 years in jail for a 1986 murder has had his conviction overturned by a UK court after new DNA evidence came to light, ending what is thought to be the longest-ever miscarriage of justice involving a living inmate in the UK. In a statement delivered by his solicitor Sarah Myatt, Peter Sullivan says "I am not angry. I am not bitter. I am simply anxious to return to my loved ones and family." The 68-year-old was jailed for the murder of Diane Sindall, who was attacked and killed in Bebington, a town near Liverpool. 00:00I did not commit murder or unlawfully take the life of any person throughout the span of my own.

00:06As God is my witness it is said the truth shall set you free.

00:11It is unfortunate that it does not give a time scale.

00:14I am not angry, I am not bitter, I am simply anxious to return to my loved ones and family

00:22as I've got to make the most of what is left of the existence I am granted in this world.

00:27I am aware of how cruel time can be to a person stripped of their youth and mobility, sight and hearing.

00:34I have had to silently endure this and watch it stripped from me in the worst environment imaginable.

00:41I will not comment on the horrors done to me over that time, there are too many.

00:45I would like to say how sorry I am to the family of Diane Sindel

00:49who have now got to come to terms with the death of their daughter being down to someone else

00:54and I long to see the right thing done for this horrible crime so that they will find peace.

01:02Peace out for 39 years and at the end of the day it's not just us.

01:07We haven't won, Pisa hasn't won and neither is the Sindel family.

01:11They've lost their daughter, they're not going to get her back.

01:15We've got Pisa back and now we've got to try and build a life around them again.

01:20So at the end of the day we feel sorry for the Sindels and it's such a shame that all this has had to happen in the first place.

01:28So that's it now.

01:29Let's hope people will start respecting all our wishes now and understand that Pisa was called so many different names

01:37and that's all needs to be squashed now because Pisa was never anything of what he was being called in the first place.
