00:00Former Senators Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan are set for a political comeback as both break into the top half of the so-called Magic 12 in the 2025 senatorial race.
00:10Based on partial and unofficial results of the Commission on Elections on Tuesday, May 13, with 97.2% of total election results processed, Aquino is at 2nd place with more than 20 million votes, while Pangilinan is at 5th place with more than 15 million votes.
00:24The two trailed behind in pre-election surveys.
00:27Both Aquino and Pangilinan cited the last-minute game-changers, such as pivotal endorsements from local executives and big groups.
00:34Aquino was on the list of block-voting Iglesia ni Cristo, the religious group Jesus is Lord, and the Bangsa Moro Group's Moro Islamic Liberation Front and Moro National Liberation Front.
00:44Pangilinan was also endorsed by the MILF, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, and the Rimulyas of Cavite.
00:50Meantime, only three of former President Rodrigo Duterte's 10 Senate candidates are likely to win Senate seats, with two re-electionist Senators Bongo and Bato de la Rosa, and Sagip Representative Rodante Marcoleta.
01:02But two candidates endorsed by Vice President Sara Duterte make it to the 12, Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar, and re-electionist Aini Marcos.
01:10Five Senate bets from Allianza para sa bagong Pilipinas slate are poised to secure seats, not counting Marcos and Villar.
01:18They are Erwin Tulfo, former Senator Ping Lakson, former Senate President Tito Soto, re-electionist Pia Cayetano, and Lito Lapid.
