00:00In Palestine, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening as the days go by.
00:04Charities are facing a shortage of resources, making the situation more complicated for families and displaced people.
00:10In the coastal enclave, the soup kitchens are currently the main source of food for the Strip's 2.3 million inhabitants.
00:17But dozens of them have closed their doors because the 10-week Israeli blockade of the territory
00:21has prevented aid groups from distributing food parcels and emptied supply markets.
00:27In this regard, daily scenes of desperation are played out in Gaza with hundreds waving their pots and plates in the air.
00:34Children, women and men crowd around communal cooking stations, making for a lugar full of watered bean soup.
00:46It is so hard. There is no open border crossing. There is no flour. There is no food, no drink.
00:52When we come here to the soup kitchen, we end up waiting in line for four or five hours in the sun.
00:56It's exhausting, and we end up inhaling smoke from the cooking gas that just blinds us.
01:01In the end, we walk away with nothing. There is not enough for everybody.
01:04We scramble to get here and in the end we get nothing.
01:07If we're lucky we get one pot, enough for the little ones.
01:09We give them lunch and that is all. It's like that every day.
01:15After the border closure, now almost 70 days ago, nothing has entered.
01:21Not even a drop of water because of the occupation's policy of starving the people here.
01:26Hunger. Hunger has become the norm. It has become the usual. Everyone is feeling it.
01:36In April, the World Food Programme said its food stocks in Gaza had run out under Israel's blockade,
01:42ending a main source of sustenance for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the Strip.
01:45As floor became scarce or unaffordable for the majority of Palestinians,
01:50many have resorted to grinding pasta beans or lentils to produce duff and bake bread.
01:55Each child has been begging his family to eat, so the family turned to things they were not used to before.
02:06We did not grin these things before. Not beans or lentils nor anything else.
02:10Today, in light of the starvation crisis and the lack of even lentils and beans,
02:15people have begun to accept very strange things.
02:17In the midst of these critical living conditions,
02:24the Palestinian people have had to become creative in order to feed their children.
02:28Meanwhile, the Israeli government continues its crusade of extermination in the region.
02:33We have been soaking pasta overnight, then draining it and making flour from it.
02:42Now the pasta is run out. This was two weeks ago. The pasta has run out.
02:47Now we have come to grind the lentils, to see how the lentils will be.
02:50We do not know how things will be. What is left of this?
02:53There is nothing to grind, there is nothing to eat.
02:56The children wish for a tomato, a cucumber and an onion.
03:03Since the revival of the conflict and tensions in the region on October 7, 2023,
03:10more than 50 zero-Palestinian citizens have lost their lives.
03:14Only a fraction of those who will continue to die in the face of the actions of the Israeli government,
03:19which is deliberately starving thousands of children in Gaza today with total impunity.
