00:00Nestled in the lush embrace of the Himalayas,
00:23Ahlgaam has long been a symbol of Kashmir's breathtaking serenity.
00:28A haven for trekkers, pilgrims and tourists.
00:32But on 22 April 2025, that calm was no more.
00:37Heavily armed terrorists opened fire on tourists in Baissaran Valley in Pehlgaam, killing 26
00:44people and injuring over 20 and leaving the nation in shock.
00:50The attack bore the signature of cross-border terror outfits, once again exposing the fragile
00:56fault lines of peace in the region.
00:59India mourned, but then India responded.
01:04In the early hours of May 7, India launched Operation Sindur, a calibrated and covert strike
01:12targeting nine terror hubs deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
01:18Precision missile attacks dismantled Ki Lakshar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohmad facilities, including
01:24camps in Bhavalpur and Murutke.
01:27The message was unambiguous.
01:30India will not allow terrorism to bleed its people without consequence.
01:37From the idyllic valleys of Pehlgaam to the corridors of global diplomacy, Operation Sindur marked a
01:44new chapter, where grief transformed into resolve and silence into strategic action.
01:52The world is watching closely as tensions have escalated between two nuclear-armed neighbors.
01:58As global leaders called for restraint, many acknowledged India's right to defend its sovereignty.
02:06The White House called the response measured, while France and Australia stood by India's
02:11commitment to counter-terrorism.
02:14Let's take a deep dive into what they said.
02:22US expressed concerns over the rising tensions.
02:25President Donald Trump called for a swift resolution.
02:28Oh, it's so terrible.
02:30My position is, I get along with both.
02:33I know both very well.
02:35And I want to see them work it out.
02:36I want to see them stop.
02:38And hopefully they can stop now.
02:39They've gone tit for tat.
02:42So hopefully they can stop now.
02:44But I know both.
02:45We get along with both the countries very well.
02:47Good relationships with both.
02:49And I want to see it stop.
02:50And if I can do anything to help, I will be there.
02:55Now, on to the terrorist attacks in Pei Helgam.
03:06As President Trump and Secretary Rubio have made clear, the United States stands with India,
03:12strongly condemns all acts of terrorism.
03:16We pray for the lives of those lost and for the recovery of the injured.
03:21And to call for the perpetrators of this heinous act to be brought to justice.
03:26Secretary of State Marco Rubio engaged with national security advisers from both India
03:31and Pakistan, urging them to keep the lines of communication open and avoid any sort of escalation.
03:37The UK called for both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and engage in direct dialogue to deescalate the situation.
03:50UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the terrorist attack in Kashmir utterly devastating.
04:15UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy also called the Pei Helgam attack cowardly.
04:25Russia expressed deep concern over the intensifying military confrontation and urged both the nations to seek diplomatic solutions.
04:33President Vladimir Putin condemned the phe Helgam attack, describing it as a brutal crime with no justification whatsoever.
04:40He extended condolences to the victims' families and reaffirmed Russia's commitment to cooperate with India in combating terrorism in all of its forms.
04:50In a phone call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Putin expressed full support to India in its fight against terrorism,
04:59emphasizing solidarity with the Indian government and people.
05:03Russia and India share a long-standing defence and strategic partnership, with India being the largest importer of Russian defence equipment.
05:10This relationship has been characterised by extensive military-technical cooperation, joint exercises and collaboration in various defence sectors.
05:21While Russia has called for de-escalation and dialogue between India and Pakistan,
05:25its condemnation of the Pei Helgam attack and support for India's counter-terrorism efforts underscore the depth of the Indo-Russian partnership.
05:33On Operation Sindhoor, China called for both the countries to act in the interest of the regional peace and stability.
05:48Ambassador Ruben Azhar stated, and I'm quoting him,
05:50terrorists should know there is no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent.
05:55This kind of crimes cannot be accepted, and we have to come together to get the resources that are needed in order to fight these terrorists.
06:08They cannot continue intimidating us. We won't accept it.
06:14We are not accepting it in Israel. In India, this is not acceptable either.
06:18And we are confident in the work of the authorities here.
06:23We know how determined they are.
06:25We know how dedicated they are.
06:27And I'm sure that together we will have a victory over terrorism.
06:36Several countries, including France, Germany, Japan and the UAE,
06:41urged both nations to exercise restraint and prioritise diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation.
06:47You see, Pakistan condemned these strikes as an act of war, reporting civilian casualties and wowing retaliation.
07:03But the thing is that Pakistan's military and affiliated media outlets propagated several unverified claims.
07:09Pakistan asserted that it had shot down multiple Indian aircraft, including a Rafale jet.
07:20However, India's Press Information Bureau, PIB, debunked these claims,
07:24clarifying that the images circulated were outdated and unrelated to Operation Sindur.
07:29Statements from Pakistani officials suggested the capture of Indian soldiers during the operation.
07:39These claims lacked credible evidence and were dismissed by Indian authorities as baseless.
07:49Pakistan accused India of targeting civilian areas, including mosques and educational institutions,
07:55resulting in civilian casualties.
07:58But India has made it clear and refuted all of these allegations,
08:02saying that these strikes were precision targeted at terrorist camps,
08:06with efforts made to avoid any sort of collateral damage.
08:14Pro-Pakistan's social media accounts circulated misleading images and videos.
08:19Videos from unrelated incidents were presented as evidence of India's alleged aggression.
08:23Claims of Indian military installations being destroyed were also propagated without any sort of substanciation.
08:30Pakistan's attempts to mislead the international community through fabricated claims and misinformation
08:35have been systematically debunked.
08:38India's Operation Sindur stands as a testament to its commitment to combating terrorism
08:43and ensuring national security.
08:45The United Nations has expressed deep concern over the escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan
08:55following India's Operation Sindur.
08:57The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the attack in Pehelgaam
09:02and said that India and Pakistan should avoid a military confrontation
09:06that could easily spin out of control.
09:08Following India's launch of Operation Sindur on 7 May 2025 in response to the Pehelgaam terror attack,
09:20several nations and leaders expressed explicit support for India's actions.
09:24This support shows India's global partnerships and its stance against terrorism.
09:29Israel has consistently stood by India in its fight against terrorism.
09:38Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the Pehelgaam attack
09:41and affirmed Israel's solidarity with India.
09:48Macron also condemned the attack as France has a history of supporting India's counter-terrorism efforts
09:54and has engaged in joint military exercises and defence collaborations.
10:04German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that no one in the region should have any interest in further escalation.
10:10Germany also expressed solidarity on the recent terror attack in India.
10:19Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloney expressed sorrow over the Pehelgaam attack,
10:23conveying condolences and stating that Italy stands with India in its fight against terrorism.
10:33European Union expressed concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan
10:37and has called for restraint and dialogue to prevent any sort of further escalation.
10:42These international reactions highlight the global community's recognition for India's right to self-defence
10:48and its efforts to combat terrorism.
10:51After European Union's call for de-escalation after India's Operation Sindhoor,
10:55External Affairs Minister S.J. Shankar articulated India's position with clarity and firmness.
11:06In his initial response to Operation Sindhoor, Jai Shankar said, and I'm quoting him,
11:10The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism.
11:14This statement shows India's unwavering commitment to combating terrorism and its expectation of global
11:20solidarity in this endeavour. Addressing the EU's appeal for restraint, Jai Shankar remarked that
11:25India is looking for partners and not preachers. India maintained that Operation Sindhoor was a targeted
11:32response to eliminate terror infrastructure responsible for the Pehelgaam attack and that all
11:37the efforts were made to avoid any sort of civilian casualties.
