00:00It's obviously a day of great joy. It's a day of great celebration.
00:05He begins his pontificate. He does so knowing that he has lifted up
00:10the hardship of searching for food or shelter. May God sustain and strengthen them.
00:15Souls of Gene Hines, Michelle Chado, Judith Zayomet.
00:21A pure sacrifice may be offered to your name.
00:24Therefore, Lord, we thank you. He said the blessing, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples.
00:32I think what's exciting, people, he's from Chicago.
00:36As the bishop said, though he's from Chicago, he's the universal pope for the whole world.
00:42But let's face it, I think we're all very proud that one of our own is now Pope Leo XIV from Chicago.
00:48I can see why the cardinals elected him, because he was well known by them.
00:54He has great respect, and he really connects to the United States, his years in Peru, his years in Rome.
01:02He's really a global holy father. Not local, but he's truly global in many, many ways.
01:09So we were all together in our main offices.
01:12We had television screens set up, so I watched it as everyone else was watching it.
01:18And there was just such an air of excitement.
01:21And because there's a little lag time with the Internet signal,
01:25people started to get the notice on their phone before it showed up.
01:29And so there was a bit of a building momentum.
01:31And then they heard from the United States, and they heard from Chicago,
01:35and then we all saw him coming out.
01:38So it was just incredibly exciting, incredibly, incredibly exciting.
01:42We'll see you next time.
