The US star can even see surprise benefits in the world number one's enforced absence

00:00I don't think he should have ever missed a slam.
00:03For what he did, for the amount that he proved, for what he showed,
00:07how it got into his system, the tiny, the minuscule amount that was in his system,
00:13I don't think it would be fair to miss out on an opportunity for him
00:16when he's chasing history.
00:18So I'm okay with it.
00:20I hope he spent his time wisely when he was not competing
00:24because he's got, hopefully, for the fans' sake,
00:27another 15 years of competing at the highest level.
00:30So if you've got a three-month break, I hope he enjoyed it.
00:34I hope he took a little vacation and then got back to work
00:36and may be able to physically improve his body
00:39so that he can withstand the rigors of the tour for the rest of the year.
00:44And I suspect he did.
00:46I suspect he'll be back, possibly stronger than ever.
00:49So we'll see, which is scary for the tour
00:52because he looked pretty darn strong in Australia.
00:54I expect him to have a really a great year
00:57just because I think anytime someone has a little bit of a break
01:01and it's not because they're injured
01:04and they have to be off the court completely,
01:06if they use that time wisely,
01:07that is such a benefit
01:08because most players don't get that opportunity.
01:10People think that being on tour is a healthy endeavor.
01:13It's not.
01:13It breaks your body down.
01:15You're really breaking it down
01:16and you have to build it up in those off times.
01:19So for him to have three months of an off time
01:21to build up his body,I think that can end up being a bonus for him later this year.
