00:00from Wisconsin. Mr. Cole, if somebody issues statements which are critical of Islam as a
00:13religion, is that protected speech under the First Amendment? Sure. If a Christian minister
00:22attacks the gay lifestyle, is that protected speech under the First Amendment? Yes.
00:30Wow. I'm sorry? I said, wow. Okay. Thank you. Now, by the way, you got those answers right.
00:41Thank you. I'd like to ask our professor something. I've had this job now for a little
00:49over 10 years, and I get around to all sorts of groups and talk to people. The number of people
00:57I talked to is just beyond belief. I have yet to hear, and I think I would have remembered if I
01:02heard it, any what I would call anti-Semitic remarks. Nevertheless, we seem to have a problem
01:09on all these universities in which anti-Semitism seems to be somewhat prevalent. Do you want to
01:18take a crack as to why anti-Semitism is, I think right now, tiny in the United States, but the
01:27only place it seems to be common is on university campuses? Well, I don't, I... Not you. We'll give
01:36the others. They're the experts. We're done with you, so that's... Oh, I thought you said professor. I'm sorry.
01:40Sorry, you passed your test. Any of the other three want to take a crack as to why we seem
01:47to have anti-Semitism on Americans' college campuses, but, you know, we don't have anti-Semitism
01:53at, from what I can tell, I talk to people all the time, not a, you know, a big problem
02:00in America as a whole. Nobody has a reason why that is so. You must think when these incidents
02:09happen on your campuses, why is this happening? You don't think at all. Your mind is a blank.
02:16I guess your mind is a blank. You don't think, you normally think a university, uh, president's,
02:24mind is a blank, but apparently they are. Um, it is my belief that the reason you see more
02:30anti-Semitism on campuses is because there is a lack of thought on the campuses, and, uh,
02:39the campuses are the home to the hard left of this country. And if there's a odd campus
02:45that is the home of the odd left, but, you know, we've got some, you know, presidents
02:51here are big, huge universities. I mean, DePaul, uh, Cal Poly, big universities. Um, but I think
03:01there is, for example, very little people who would be described as Christian conservatives
03:08or Republican, uh, and I think that the zigist of the more liberal element right now in this
03:18country is including anti-Semitism or a bizarre obsession with protecting Hamas. Uh, I guess I'll
03:27put it that way. Um, do you feel, are you making, do you say if you had to take a shot? Um, we'll
03:36start out with the Ms. Haverford here or Ms. Raymond, Dr. Raymond. Do you have a crack at,
03:42of your professors? What percent you would think would vote for, say, a Donald Trump and what
03:47percent would vote for, uh, a Kamala Harris or even further left wing type candidate?
03:56Representative, we do not ask that question. You must have an idea. You must have an idea. You
04:03talk to people. You have no idea. No, no idea. We don't know. Maybe 80 percent were for Trump.
04:09You have no, no idea. Not even in any, in the individual department, you have any idea?
04:14I do not. I'm not interested in that kind of information. I don't believe that, but okay,
04:19you can say that. Uh, how about Mr. Manuel? Thank you. Uh, like Haverford, we don't track.
04:27I know you don't track, but you must have an opinion. 200 faculty on campus. And I can tell
04:32you that our practices have protected both conservative and protective and progressive
04:36voices in our work. You have no idea. Okay. Um, Mr. Armstrong, I mean, you must talk to people.
04:44Everybody talks about the election last October. Do you feel you have kind of, uh, angling to the
04:50left side big time on your, on your campus there in California?
04:56We have the majority of, vast majority of our faculty and staff. They really focus on student
05:02success. We have a high STEM, uh, population. Nobody wants to take a crack at it. Well, okay.
05:08I think the problem that we have antisemitism on the campus is because odd, offbeat, hateful
05:16ideas fester in a place of extreme leftism. And I think the universities in this country
05:23have become fanatical left-wingists. And I, I don't know what we can do about it as a country.
05:29We're going to have to talk and see what we can do about it because we sure funnel money into
05:33the universities. And I don't think the gentlemen are getting all expired. Thank you.
05:38Thank you. I now recognize the ranking member of the
