00:00Okay we're here this evening at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead for this
00:14evening's Northeast Property Awards. A fantastic night, a celebration of the
00:19property sector in the region, all the incredible developments, developers,
00:26investors, banks, law firms and all the rest of them all gathered here today. We've
00:33got over 140 different organisations represented here this evening so we're
00:38really looking forward to representing the sector in all its glory. So we're
00:43looking forward to a great night and we're going to be speaking to some of
00:47the winners and some of the judges throughout the evening. So I'm here with
00:53Nicola Tiffin from Hay and Kilner, one of the sponsors of the Northeast Property
00:58Awards. Nicola you're looking forward to a great evening I hope? Absolutely, I've been
01:03here every year since it started and it's always a fantastic evening to bring
01:07everyone from the property sector together for an evening of drink awards and just
01:13generally a good evening for everybody. And why is it important for you to sponsor the
01:18awards to back and support the awards? We obviously we have a commercial property
01:24team at Hay and Kilner and we'd like to work particularly for Northeast-based clients
01:29and for us it's very important to see the Northeast property market flourish and
01:33we're keen to be a part of that. And it is flourishing? It is yes, yeah definitely. With its problems of course.
01:39I was going to say yes, taking account of the wider sort of economic issues it's flourishing.
01:45Brilliant. Thank you Nicola, have a great night. Thank you.
01:48So I'm here with Chris Kerr of Porcelanosa, one of the sponsors of the awards. Chris, another great night ahead. What are you looking forward to especially?
01:58Just to actually be here again, you know, for a few years now we've been lucky enough to be our sponsor of the awards and I always just look forward to mostly catching up with a lot of people I don't get the chance to see.
02:11Coming from up North, I'm down maybe once or twice a month so I really enjoy looking forward to catching up with a lot of the clients and potential clients.
02:19Absolutely. And the sort of developments that you work on in the Northeast, would it be residential or commercial? What sort of developments do Porcelanosa get involved in here?
02:31Probably a good mix to be honest with you. We are a retail showroom but also a specification showroom for commercial as well. So lots of developers, house builders as well as the retail public as well.
02:45So we're fortunate enough to have lots of products to offer various different sectors.
02:51Great. Well, thanks for being involved in the awards once again, Chris, and have a great night.
02:55Thank you so much and you too.
02:57Thanks.
02:58So I'm here with John Seager and Fergus Trim of Broadoke Asset Management, the winners of the Specialist Consultancy of the Year. Congratulations.
03:06Fergus, what does it mean to win for you and the team?
03:10We're absolutely delighted to win the award tonight. It's been a great year. Delighted with the team, the work that we've been doing across an amazing selection of clients and projects.
03:23So just delighted to have won the award tonight.
03:25And is there one project or development you're particularly proud of over the last 12 months?
03:29We've been involved with so many great projects over the last 12 months, whether it's Newcastle Helix, whether it's Newcastle United Football Club, University, it's been a whole range of great projects we've been doing. So yeah, all of those.
03:42And John, it's a room full of the sector. Really great, sort of fun evening. I hope you enjoyed it. And how do you think the sector is doing as a whole?
03:52It was good. It was good to see a lot of young people coming through with some interesting faces in the crowd. Always a pleasure to mix with England and all this property industry, because we don't get to do enough. And a brilliant atmosphere in the room. Great year.
04:06Enjoy the win. And thank you very much. And good luck for next year.
04:10Thank you very much. Thank you.
04:12So I'm here with Indy from Igloo, a proud winner of the Design Excellence Award for the Patent Shop in Newcastle.
04:20Indy, what does it feel to win the award?
04:23It's a really proud moment. The Patent Shop's been a labour of love.
04:27It's been years of bringing together an old heritage building, which has been derelict and lying in ruin.
04:33We've brought it back to life, restoring lots of its original features. And it's going to be a proud office building.
04:41What's the plans moving forward with the development?
04:44Well, the development's a phase development. So we have, it's a mixed-use regeneration scheme right in the centre of Newcastle.
04:52It's the birthplace of Robert and George Stephenson. So really, really important site to bring back into use.
04:58The Patent Shop's going to be home to Attenbank. We're going to be proud owners of an excellently designed building.
05:06And they'll be proudly in the foyer, I hope.
05:08They will, hopefully. Great. Thank you, Zee. Thank you.
