00:33As Superior General of the Augustinians, he visited the Dominican Republic twice and left a mark of affection and commitment.
00:40In 2005, he celebrated 50 years of the Augustinian presence on Dominican soil.
00:46And in 2011, he spent time with young people at the Dominican Gathering of Augustinian Youth, Idoja, to which he gave spiritual meaning and missionary spirit.
00:56His humility, his direct and fraternal approach to people, and his constant commitment to working with young people reveal a genuine pastoral leadership connected to the daily realities of faith and community.
01:11Today, as he assumes the chair of Peter, that same humble and people-centered approach is projected as a sign of hope for a church seeking to renew itself without losing its essence.
01:22Our country remembers him with affection and prayer and gratefully welcomes this new chapter of universal Catholicism.
01:30May God enlighten and strengthen him in this momentous mission.
