00:00Now it's a sit down with Joel Kim Booster. Hey Joel!
00:04Question number one, can you take your shirt off for us?
00:07No, you know what? I wore a tank top specifically for you,
00:10that's as far as I'm willing to go.
00:13You're currently hosting Bravo's Love Hotel,
00:15which streams every Sunday on Bravo and drops Mondays on Peacock.
00:18So how does it feel corralling Bravo stars towards love?
00:21I mean, it was surreal. It was definitely like,
00:23it felt like an out-of-body experience every day because you're right.
00:25Like those women raised me, you know,
00:27I've known Luann since I was in high school, you know?
00:30Like it's, it's like, it's, that's, you know, she's been a part of my life,
00:34the fabric of my media diet for over 10 years.
00:38And so to be standing in front of her was really surreal.
00:40It's funny that you, you asked me like, how was it like corralling them?
00:44And I think you'll see as the series goes on,
00:47I am not successful in corralling them at all.
00:51Out of all the housewives on the show, Shannon, Ashley, Giselle and Luann,
00:55which girl surprised you the most in real life and how?
00:57It's definitely Giselle. I mean, talk about powerful women.
01:00Like she is a boss and she like owns her life and like has, you know,
01:05I think really high standard, you know, she's going to open up to somebody.
01:08They've got to be, you know, A list, top tier, grade A, you know, kind of guy.
01:13And there's definitely guys like that, that we cast on the show,
01:17takes her a little bit longer to get there. But once she does,
01:21I think like you really, it's, you really get to see a different side of Giselle
01:25by the end of the season. And it's really lovely.
01:27And like, I think fans will really be pleasantly surprised
01:31and like really see a different softer side of her.
01:34Giddy up.
01:35We the viewers at home are on episode two,
01:37and I'm personally vibing hard with Wale.
01:39Did you secretly crush on any of the men?
01:41Wale, I think we all sort of collectively, there was not a single person,
01:46straight, gay, man, woman, anything in between on set,
01:49who didn't a little bit fall in love with Wale.
01:52Wale, Earl, Ralph, these guys like are some of the best men I've ever met.
01:57They put faith in straight men in me again.
02:00It really taught me what love really is.
02:03It is May, which means we're celebrating AAPI heritage all month long.
02:08We know you're South Korean.
02:09What does the significance of this month mean to you, if at all?
02:12It's always meaningful when you can like take a moment and stand with your community
02:19and celebrate your community and like do it publicly and proudly.
02:24I grew up in a very white community.
02:28I wasn't able to spend a lot of time in community with other Asian Americans.
02:31And so moments, having moments like this, I know, you know,
02:34for some people I talk to are like, why is this necessary?
02:38We can do this all, you know, every day, all year.
02:40And I'm like, I get that.
02:41But I also think that it's really important to have it,
02:43especially in times like these moments where, you know,
02:47we do say like very publicly, very officially, like we are standing together.
02:50This is our community and we are supporting each other.
02:53And this is who we are.
02:54And so that's, it's always been really special for me.
02:58Are you going to integrate anything South Korean into your wedding?
03:01And yes, we're super excited and we can't wait for our invite in the mail.
03:05The suit that I want to wear, I want it to reference a traditional Korean
03:09hanbok that you would wear at a wedding, but reference.
03:12And I want there to be little touches in the ceremony.
03:15And I might have my best man carry a duck down the aisle, which is a tradition.
03:20Did you say a duck?
03:21What does it mean?
03:22I don't know.
03:24Before I implement it, we will be doing the research for sure.
03:28Okay.
03:29We're going to put 10 seconds on the clock to promote any one of your projects.
03:32Ready?
03:32Go.
03:33You can watch Love Hotel on Sundays, or you can listen to me on my podcast,
03:36Bad Dates, which comes out every Monday.
03:42Joel, thank you so much for joining us.
