00:00What made you decide to come to the Northwest from France?
00:03Ah, so long story short, lived in America after playing a lot of tennis in France,
00:09played college tennis, and then was going to go to medical school in America,
00:13and then was told, oh, the healthcare system is much better in Australia,
00:17and the work-life balance is also a lot more healthy,
00:22and so I was like, oh, I'll try, applied.
00:25Got in and did medical school at Western Sydney Uni,
00:29and then got a couple of job offers.
00:32One of them was here in Burnie,
00:35and I was always attracted to the outdoors and the wilderness,
00:41and so decided to make the leap and come down here
00:44and fell in love with not only the place but also the people here, and yeah.
00:50And yeah, I guess what are some of the similarities between tennis and medicine?
00:55Ah, lots.
00:56So I guess when I played college tennis it was a team sport,
00:59and this is what I love about the emergency department.
01:02Anyone from, you know, the junior doctor, the medical student, the attendant, the cleaner, the consultant,
01:11and we all work together as a team to provide the best care that we can for our patients.
01:18I loved the adventure of being a professional tennis player,
01:23travelling the world, you know, not really knowing, you know, the language of a particular country that I was in,
01:31and that adventure is every single minute in the emergency department.
01:36Amen.
