At his Senate Republican leadership press briefing, Senate Majority Leader was asked about embattled U.S. Attorney nominee Ed Martin.
Transcript
00:00Can Republicans flip the Georgia Senate seat at Martin to agree with the nominee?
00:05And will you move to discharge Ed Martin from the judiciary today where the foundation is going to be filled?
00:11Well, I think on the first question, we believe Georgia is going to be competitive.
00:14We have no idea who the Republican nominee would be at this point.
00:18But as I said earlier, I'm encouraged by the fact that there's a lot of interest in the Republicans of Georgia,
00:24both City House members and some statewide office officials who are taking a hard look at the race.
00:30And we'll see how it all shakes out.
00:32But I expect Georgia will be a competitive race.
00:34It will be close to the end.
00:36But I think it's a race that we can win.
00:38And Ed Martin, obviously, is a big decision.
00:42It's going to happen by the Senate Judiciary Committee.
00:45My understanding is they haven't said anything on that yet.
00:48So, you know, we will cross that bridge if and when we come to it.
00:52But it's ultimately going to be a decision that the judiciary will do things first.
