A county MP has returned to parliamentary activity after undergoing surgery on a historic gunshot wound - quizzing the Government on support for community hospitals.

South Shropshire MP Stuart Anderson spoke in Parliament yesterday (May 6) for the first time since early December after recovering from reconstructive surgery on a historic injury that he sustained during his time in the Armed Forces.
Transcript
00:00As soon as we possibly can.
00:01Stuart Anderson, welcome back.
00:04Thank you, Mr Speaker.
00:06Community hospitals can reduce pressure on major hospitals, especially in rural communities like mine.
00:12Will the Secretary of State lay out his plans of how he intends to support community hospitals in South Stropshire?
00:20Well, Mr Speaker, at the heart of this government's approach is investment and reform of the NHS
00:26to make sure we deliver better outcomes for patients.
00:29That means the biggest devolution of power in the history of the NHS, with more decisions taken closer to patients and their communities,
00:37indeed more power in the hands of patients too.
00:39Community hospitals do have a vital role to play, and no doubt, thanks to the decisions taken by this government
00:45to deliver £26 billion more into our NHS, we'll be able to make further and faster progress, opposed by the party opposite.
