Gujarat Titans defeated Mumbai Indians by three wickets in a rain-curtailed game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 6. Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mohammed Siraj (1/29) struck early, removing Ryan Rickelton (2) cheaply. Rohit Sharma (7) didn't get a good start as well, perishing to Arshad Khan. Will Jacks (53) and Suryakumar Yadav (35) survived some dropped chances and stitched a steady partnership. It was broken by Sai Kishore and he, alongside Rashid Khan (1/21) and Prasidh Krishna (1/37) combined to trigger a collapse. Corbin Bosch (27) and Deepak Chahar took Mumbai Indians to a fighting 155/8. Chasing it, the Gujarat Titans were always facing the threat of rain and DLS. Losing Sai Sudharsan early to Trent Boult (2/22) didn't help their case. The DLS par score was swinging like a pendulum between both sides when the game was stopped for the first time. It resumed shortly, but Jasprit Bumrah (2/19) bowled a brilliant spell, dismissing Shubman Gill (43) and Shahrukh Khan (6). Ashwani Kumar (2/28) scalped the wicket of Rashid Khan and when the game stopped the second time, Gujarat Titans were behind in DLS. After a while, the rain stopped and the umpires decided to reduce the chase to 19 overs with the target revised to 147. This meant that Gujarat Titans needed 15 runs off the last over and Rahul Tewatia and Gerald Coetzee narrowly pulled them over the line. This is the eighth victory of the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025 and the fifth loss for the Mumbai Indians.
