00:00The voice of John Latham who's in charge of this one, as we kick off a new era for DAZN,
00:17Queensbury's opener and it's a super super lightweight match, it's the battle of the
00:24unbeatens bragging rights in the Lancashire area, pitting Khalil Majid in with Alex Murphy,
00:33same area, they know each other but they've not sparred before and they've come up and they meet
00:41tonight on the big stage and it's a cracker Darren to get this evening going. Yeah as you said,
00:49somebody's own has to go, Murphy I'm surprised you look at his record, there's no stoppages and that
00:55surprises me and you already see he's aggressive on the front foot, he's a natural counter puncher but
00:59he does it whilst going forward and Majid is technically sound, he does the basics really
01:05really well, you see working nicely behind that lead and good variation with a jab so
01:10I think the styles are going to gel here Adam. Yes a wonderful amateur Khalil Majid, been boxing for
01:17many years, both of them trying to get into a rhythm early, it's the fast jab of Majid and the quick
01:26right hands too of Alex Murphy and a few people Barry telling me that Murphy although the underdog here
01:33is someone to really keep an eye on in this division. Well sometimes you get carried away with
01:38the fighter who's better known doesn't always mean he's the better fighter but I think the key to victory
01:44for either one and similar it's the jab, they both have good jabs, Murphy steps behind us a little bit
01:49more than Majid does on his but you can see him both now trying to establish that left hand and with that
01:54the right hand can follow, I think Murphy having a little bit more success at the minute with that more
01:58forceful left hand. He handed a nice right hook Majid a moment ago but I like the way Murphy's slipping
02:07inside the jab or trying to at least and looking for that left uppercut inside. Walks into a little
02:12right hand though the speed may be with Khalil Majid tries the uppercut and the body shot as well
02:19he's got variety. Well what he's doing here Majid that he hasn't really heard of the fight is he's
02:25stepping in with the jab he's staying there and looking to work the body a little bit more
02:29it's a lively start this it is I like the way Majid's not getting completely bullied he's always allowing
02:40a bit a bit of space behind him but I'm pretty sure that Murphy would be the aggressor in this
02:47fight it was all down to Majid there so I love the exchange of right hands he can't give up too much
02:52ground at them. And again Murphy tries with that big right hand but zero knockouts on the slate so he
03:00may have to go the long way but he is aggressive and he's right in front of Khalil Majid from the
03:07opener. Well what Murphy is he's a correct puncher so when he throws out one two down the line he
03:11doesn't need to get too close yet just don't take that front foot too close. Oh lovely right hand though
03:16from Majid the shot of the first round and again he catches him and the action hops up right at the
03:23back end of the first round and Khalil Majid just having some success there

04:17it was the difference in speed you picked that up Adam and the accuracy on point
04:24it's a good opening round from both there the cleaner shot from Majid definitely at the back end
04:28exciting start the light blue and gold trim of Khalil Majid the 27 year old from Boltman from Salford
04:38almost uh neighbors really Alex Murphy undefeated in 13 Murphy 27 fights between them and no losses yet but this the
04:50real uh breakout fight for the pair of them at the same time they fought on
04:55the same show before but now they meet each other and Barry it's been a hectic pace doesn't it yeah it's
05:02been good the difference is it's just the upper body movement there with Majid and look he's just
05:06getting a different angle of attack that's why he's getting more success when he throws that right
05:10down over the over the top what Murphy needs to do is when he does that one two and he lands with it
05:14correct just take a step out and then come back in don't hold your feet that allows Majid there to slip in time
05:19with that left shoulder and get more success with a heavier shot I would say targeting the body Murphy
05:25for the first time trying to uh find a way to squeeze in those hooks but back comes Majid with
05:32some work downstairs of his own it's being fought at close quarters this yeah the variation in the work
05:39of Majid he's happy to keep it long because we've already touched on the speed that he has over
05:44Murphy but comfortable in so inside but I think for Murphy he needs to be more selective with the
05:50shots here don't just throw anything for the sake of it because you will get count especially with that
05:54right hand over the jab and he's walked into a couple of jabs Murphy slightly reddened around the face
06:01already he's also landed a few right hands of his own there Murphy he's just a little bit too upright
06:06I think that's that's his problem here and Majid just slipping low again there's that right hand
06:12that we saw in the first round from Khalil Majid the extra edge in speed and maybe in class from the
06:20amateur days but it's a really good fight it's a lovely mix and blend and look at the turn of the
06:27shoulders when he throws that right hand Majid he throws that jab he gets side on but he really
06:31turns that body with that right hand yeah he's got to be sharper again just missing with the right
06:36hand he's got to be suffered with the jab Murphy he can't afford to pour out that lead hand body work
06:41from Majid and there's absolutely no feeling out in this one they've gone at it right out again from
06:49Majid every time he's catching Murphy with the left low I'll tell you what there's nothing troubling
06:55Murphy though here we have to give him that credit you know he's taking the shots he maybe needs to
07:00readjust his height a little bit tell you what no feeling out process here brilliant a couple of
07:05rounds we've seen already body shot again from Majid just got that extra little bit of variety and he
07:12catches Murphy clean and these shots will be catching the eyes of the three judges around ringside
07:19it's a hot pace and Majid just with the quality so far

08:16fighters this stage of their career knowing that this win puts them into a total contention but it's just
08:21Majid I think it's just the different angles he's putting with his shoulders making the difference
08:24here he moves it up to upright Majid throwing the jab the timing is not so much the speed the time of
08:30that right hand is exceptional slow burning career for Khalil Majid so far who turned over in 2018 but a
08:38high octane a start to this super lightweight contest it's a crucial one really for the pair of them
08:47under the watchful eye of Frank and George Warren at ringside
08:51many of their fans have come along and an all lancashire derby two unbeaten men
08:59terrific what we've seen here though is Majid recognized this then he can't lose the fight
09:04every time Murphy throws let him throw let him throw two shots you throw straight after him because he
09:09stands up right the hands don't come back to the chin that's the thing there the recall a lot of
09:14time people talk about the speed of the shot coming out it's so important to get that hand
09:18back quickly and as Barry said that he'd recognized that Majid and he's throwing that right hand over the jab
09:23so well lovely right hands and also what's the left hook to the body of Majid but an uppercut from
09:30Murphy was a nice effort trying to do something a bit different and getting those gloves high
09:37he's not afraid Barry is he to stand right in front of Majid but that's going to be a problem
09:42for him i was worried that is he going to try and lick around back here and be too far so it's going to
09:47get him into trouble because he's too stationary and upright to be fighting coming forward like that
09:51against someone who's been able to tie them quite comfortable so he has to throw one twos adjust his feet
09:56then come back in you'll have success that way but for Majid now it's just about literally throw the jab
10:02block and then throw as soon as you feel the second shot of Murphy you throw that right hand
10:09another straight right hand down the middle there from Majid
10:15Murphy look if he's not going to keep this long and take that step back that Barry says
10:19you're going to have to get close try and nullify the work from Majid but we've seen already
10:24he does have a knack of screwing the shot through the middle coming short disguises the uppercut really
10:29well that's good double left hook though from Murphy and they're 27 victories only four knockouts
10:37so they're not worried about standing in front of each other which is making for a great blend
10:44i tell you something though these right hands from Majid they might not be knockoff shots
10:48but they're shots that just empty attack a little bit Murphy took one right down the chin there really flush
10:52and they're the shots that just tire you out make you panic a little bit yeah they stop you from
10:56throwing as well if you're getting counted every single time you throw the jab you're just a little
11:01cautious and it stops your work again another right hand from Majid just cracks onto the chin of Alex
11:08Murphy who's been solid all the way through since he turned over in August 2021 but this the step up in
11:16class can he deal with it Murphy he's certainly throwing absolutely huge amounts of leather
11:26the effort in those first three rounds from the pair of them tip top
11:33getting sloppy in there you got to keep your shit sharp keep your hands here okay you're not bouncing you're
11:39too flat-footed okay let's get the bounce going back them up let's go you're fighting his fight right
11:45now you're not fighting your fight okay back them up with the doubles step over and shoot the right hand
11:50you're trying too hard okay don't fight his fight a little let's get the bounce you're too flat-footed

12:52good fighters coming through the ranks and this is one of them here the winner here will be pushing
12:56for a title and really competitive fight though Majid has the upper hand here
13:00last night we saw a battle of the unbeatens with Tiernan Bradley and Ben Drucker tonight it's Majid and
13:07Murphy here so there he's knocking around at ringside you've got so many Jack Rafferty later
13:13yeah and what we saw last night how hard you know the two kids they really wanted to win and how hard it was
13:18to score that fight and you know it was hard to pick a winner and that's why the fact there's a draw in the end
13:23tell you what it'd be really interesting this about this Alex Murphy can keep this tempo going
13:28this pace the intrigue to see how Majid can cope throughout the entirety of the contest we've already seen
13:35buddy Makoki hearing in the corner they're saying you're fighting his fight is he making it a little
13:40uncomfortable for Majid
13:44it's the tactics from the red corner just do not allow Majid any room trying to break that rhythm
13:52and it will really test the stamina and resilience of Majid nice right hand from Murphy he's getting
13:59closer and a little more accurate here as well the man from Salford we were talking about little
14:05Murphy taking a little step back but Majid's doing it for him here he's giving Murphy that distance
14:11you've got a jab and step and dip and buddy Maghurt slamming the side of the canvas from the blue corner
14:17he's not happy with his charge he's neglected that lead hammer thing a little bit certainly in the previous
14:24round the first round he was brilliant with that jab with his Majid he's a big busy behind it again
14:29variation jab to the body stiff jab and come back with the right hand upstairs that's good job there from
14:36Murphy that's been fed around this hasn't it yeah that little step from Majid could be important as
14:42well he throws the shots and just takes a little step to his right that'll give you opportunity to find
14:47that left to the body or the left hook upstairs that right hand of Murphy is getting going
14:52or he had a shit one himself I think buddy Maghurt told Majid to get on your toes a little bit right
14:58on you no get the bounce back not not on your toes I should say get the bounce back that means
15:02dip your legs open or get a bit more rhythm in your world not dance around the ring I don't think
15:08but Murphy's taking control here in this round it's been a good real good effort
15:12yeah nice jab as well there from Alex Murphy this persistence as he goes hunting Majid
15:21trying to give him no room to breathe Majid coming back with a body shot but it's been a good round for Alex Murphy
15:28well we all love a heavyweight debut don't we delicious Ori the later to turn over
15:44and that's coming up shortly good looking smart very very marketable former excellent amateur
15:53but how will he make it as a pro and this guy's excited as hasn't he in his professional journey
15:59but it's a crucial night for Joe Joyce Darren must win has to win but having said that
16:07you're only one win away we've seen it with Daniel Dubois his fight with Miller after the the big
16:12question marks over Dubois heart he has that win looks very good now look where Daniel Dubois is
16:18you're only one win away Adam big smile came in lighter on the scales but better I thought than
16:23Hergovich Hergovich has taken a short notice it's a fascinating one Barry it is because
16:28there's a replacement here who's arguably a better and a harder fight than the original fighter so
16:33it's a hard ask for a man of 39 years of age who's shown a bit of wear and tear in his last
16:37cover contest it's a big ask but Joe Joyce you know he's a tough guy if you can come through this
16:42he reignites his career and he's back on the on the on the on the trail and the router maybe
16:47for a long trial but it's a big ask heavy impact to blockbuster fights in the blue ribbon division
16:54coming up later but plenty ahead of that it is a super lightweight fight that John Layton the
17:00referee has had to do absolutely nothing the two of them have just gone down to work and it's been a good
17:06watch yeah it has said in the opening round I like the positioning of Majid he's just giving up a
17:11bit too too much ground for me here good pressure from Alex Murphy he's been busy on the front foot
17:17he's been aggressive just like to see Majid circled back to the centre of the ring
17:22at a good start Majid bouncing some of his right hands on the Murphy chin he's just trying to outsmart
17:34Murphy here who stands tall and again tries the body work but better now from Majid and good defence there
17:43Majid could go again there he's thrown a double jab right hand he's leapt back on the shot Murphy he's not
17:48able to move back so step your feet in go again two phases the coach is so correct though Murphy
17:54that's what's impressive he keeps his shape really well and again as the rounds go on you're keeping
17:59your shape and not making too many unnecessary move but just give you a bit more energy in the tank that
18:04the throw down the line but still correct nice and neat there's not a lot of weight in those shots but
18:08they all take their toll he's coming off a couple of eight round points wins is Alex Murphy last
18:14out against Rajesh Kumar as he takes another of those right hands but he has a lot of fitness
18:23athleticism yeah yeah he's in great shape he just hasn't been caught with a few right hands of Majid but
18:31he has a knack of taking the sting out of the shot just leans back doesn't get full purchase on the
18:37the right hands Majid back on the jab says Buddy McGirt in that blue corner to Khalil Majid but nice work
18:48from Murphy not overwrought is he Barry at all no he just stuck to his plan i don't think no nothing
18:54with he's hitting with really caused any problems here and i said just keeping your shape keeps you cool
18:58under pressure he's throwing correct with every shot he's having he's had success in every round even the
19:04roles that he hasn't won tough rounds to score Darren almost a halfway point there's not much in this
19:10at all very very close and you've got to give Alex Murphy a lot of credit the way he's come back after
19:16the the first couple of rounds that certainly were Majid's this is better though from Majid not giving up
19:22as much ground working well from the center of the ring brilliant contest
19:35nice and busy put the pace up a little bit now if you can yeah we're going to double tap
19:39you're going to do that cricket ball shot that Mustafa was on about with the right hand yeah remember that
19:44one chopping right hand which he was doing the hook anyway yeah don't to the fucking head yeah
19:52Brian Gardner in the Murphy corner there's Mike Jackson who's been around the game a long time
19:58he's to work with Brian Hughes and the Colliehurst and Molston great to see him and uh great to see
20:04Josh Taylor back making his Queensbury debut May the 24th from the Hydro Arena in Glasgow he's in with
20:12Echo Essendon it's a good fight up at welterweight the first time for Taylor in the 10 stone 7 brigade
20:19Moses Etauma also on the bill that night all live right here on DAZN what are two or three months
20:28coming up not bad at all not bad at all Adam and Amy mentioned Etauma is he the future of the
20:34heavyweight division the division that's looking for its next stars I really like him Barry Moses Etauma
20:40he has everything doesn't he he moves like a middleweight punches like a heavyweight he has
20:45charisma as well he's just a fantastic talent
20:49so second half of this one in the super lightweight division the black trunks of Salford's Alex Murphy who's got
20:57back into this Khalil Najib had the better of the first couple of rounds maybe two and a half rounds
21:04Murphy's come back at him and it's close yeah he's looking to parry that the jab of Majid with the
21:11right hand there's a fake there for Majid and then throw the left look then he can come back with the
21:16right hand yeah that was a good short upper cut there from Murphy
21:21oh good right hand there for Murphy yeah lovely work again seems like it's so much to say about
21:27keep punching inside your body to keep things correct when you start to get a little bit fatigued
21:32losing your shape can cause your problems both of them have trained incredibly hard for this it's
21:39fantastic to see the amount of punches that are being thrown and neither of them taking a break
21:46almost like they were made for each other these two it's really really good match making this
21:53fantastic but you talk about the engines there the engine gets damaged when you're fighting the
21:57other fighters fighting you feel now this is probably the way that Alex Murphy wants to fight as opposed to
22:04Majid but also the way they're supposed to fight because they realize that even if they can punch
22:10he needed ones he with a puncher so they've been a little more brave than they would normally and
22:16not so much move behind the jab they try to force the pace that's a really good point and
22:23it's courageous from the pair as they stand toe-to-toe center ring and it's great for the fans as well
22:30that's better there for Murphy they're just dipping the shoulder he doesn't do it enough but when he does do
22:35he really had success what was it what was it the shot for the left hook well he admits he was an average amateur
22:41Alex Murphy he lost i think eight in a row at one point he was going to quit the sport but he's stuck with it he's knuckled down
22:49and i'm so pleased he's in fight number 14 of his pro career and he's putting in an
22:55incredible effort to try and take the scalp of calia majida yeah he really is but we see a moment ago a little passage from
23:02majean when he keeps it short sharp and compact he's so much better he doesn't need to be trading
23:08hooks to head and body with murphy just keep it simple i think murphy's having a good round here though
23:14again i i said the other couple of rounds ago keeping your you know we'll touch and tighten your hands
23:18though keeping the shape so important as the rounds go forward
23:21yeah spots of glass from calia majida but alex murphy may be doing more in these rounds
23:34you got to make it a dog fight now you know that right hey if you keep your head to cycle and just
23:38keep working it's shifting your head side to side okay how you feeling good don't give ground

25:47dip that shoulder come back on the right hand they look the more frequent here and also in fights like
25:51this is keeping our concentration not making mistakes after you throw a shot getting caught with silly
25:56punches we can see the stats though power landed a hundred for maji more to body what a head though
26:04from murphy it's fairly close on those and it i'm sure is close from the cards of howard foster darren
26:12sergeant sargentson and steve gray
26:21yeah just need to take that that step that extra step now murphy look he's still fighting his fight but
26:27i'd like to see him just press maji's back as he was in the first few rounds lovely exchange between the
26:34pair there as they go targeting hair and body phone lock stuff in center ring maji and murphy
26:44oh another one better from maji here
26:48i see it's murphy doing more of the work but it's maji with the standout stuff
26:52those eye-catching shots and maji having success here can he back murphy up at all
27:02all right if he can it'll be interesting to see how alex murphy can react to that pressure because
27:09that's the way he likes to fight side of hold a little bit looking a little ragged there murphy
27:15it's swung again this one maji having a better work and back comes murphy with a right hand
27:21and the two of them fight it out at the end of a terrific three minutes
27:28so
27:51some deep breaths in the corner there from alex murphy that was a lovely point of hand
27:56over the top and the peripheral vision of maji it's coming close there
28:01but it really really has been a good fight this barry it has yeah it was really hard to see who was
28:05getting the the upper hand at the early stages they look like maji was landing with a heavier shot
28:10but the one shot and the first time we've seen a fight that hurt remotely in this contest
28:14was thrown from alex murphy but he did well to stay in there to fire back but he had to take
28:19a good shot and he felt it really nice the uh respect between the pair at the end of this one
28:28souls are being shared tonight these two have been side by side for a while
28:34bragging rights around the bolton area khalil majid and alex murphy who's going to come on strong in
28:41these last crucial three rounds it might come down to this i love this though look two unbeaten fighters
28:48putting it both on the line they want to take the next step they want to get the win here to really
28:52progress and push on in their career it is so good to see and these are the fights you learn things
28:57about yourself that you can find out in training only in a real fight in a ten round the real war of
29:03attrition barry we talked earlier about ben crocker and tim and bradley in this very division last night
29:09fighting it out to a draw nothing to really split them maybe people thought tiernan got it but it's the
29:16same sort of a fight no throughout the contest murphy's been the busier but certainly in the early
29:22realms which he's worked was slightly better and in stages the bigger shots have come from him so it's
29:26going to be hard you see what the judge is like here just as i was about to say majid looking really
29:32really good he throws a lovely double left hook off he finishes with the right hand the left hook there
29:37from majid that's better now he's throwing the jab he's taking a little step forward here now majid
29:45well neither have taken a step back that's for certain body shots from majid tries the upper cup murphy
29:52good double right hand there started with the body and it was a razor sharp right hand to the head
30:06these two just didn't have a look at each other in the opening round they got down to business
30:11and i guess with the lighter punches they can afford to do that and it has been an extraordinary pace
30:18at tempo and pride with a lack of inexperience will not let either of these now take a step back
30:28well they both know that with frank warren watching at ringside the winner's going to go on maybe
30:34sign a big deal and it's all on the table for the two of them yeah it's just two big shots there from
30:39a nice little left chuck and a right hand over the top again murphy took it well as he has all night but
30:44again the shots are going to make the difference in rounds like this who stand up punches
30:52fans getting behind kelly il majid he's done a lot of tickets
30:56around bolton but alex murphy's got a a traveling posse as well
31:02oh lovely from murphy really good rule yeah finished the combination with that lovely right uppercut and again
31:08just leaning over the front foot majean needs to be careful needs to watch that right uppercut
31:13he's been clever with that uppercut murphy as majean just tries to throw everything at him body shots

32:41year old alex murphy unbeaten in 13. who's oh will go could we have a draw like we did in this
32:49division last night great matchmaking the thing is in a fight like this it doesn't matter who's all
32:57will go it it matters to the winner because he goes under these but you'll come back in a fight like this
33:01you'll lose so much about yourself beautiful right hand from khalil majean who just has maybe that extra
33:08class he's landed those right hands a few times through the contest but murphy will not stop
33:16trying and getting into majean's space he's just got tidy up defensively adam just when he leans back

36:50maybe it is that the lack of respect for each other's power but it's made a really good speck for the
36:56first i think they've learned that you have to dig through the sometimes the tough times to get to get to the

37:08judges that right hand and the left hook there it could be that adam it could be the cleaner work
37:15that the heart and the work rate the desire from alex murphy you have to give that so much credit
37:20but the eye-catching shots the ones that we're ruling and are about the ones that are coming from majeed
37:25that's a sustained effort this from alex murphy but karyl majeed is at times just showing what he was
37:36a national champion why he was a really good amateur in that berry club and is he just eking out
37:43a points win here which would be the victory of his career but it will be so tough on alex murphy if he
37:50was to lose this well he's doing what he was doing in the early rounds here majeed he's throwing straight
37:54up the punches of murphy every time murphy throws a shot he's getting close and working out fast
37:59a lovely advocate there from majeed i'll tell you what one man's seen this fight again get it
38:06get it on again for a title of some sort why not it's been an enthralling watch

38:20listen the only time he's doing two shots have been fantastic to watch but again majeed

39:51was two unbeaten fighters leaving it all in the ring giving it absolutely everything having to fight
39:58the other fighters fight at times and just showing how much they wanted it how much they wanted to
40:04push on and you're seeing it here ebbing and flowing and yeah barry what a fight that was it was and
40:10what they both showed was fantastic engines murphy showed that he could keep his shape under pressure
40:15and you know and in his first 10 rounder and majeed showed that you know he had a good athleticism
40:20and also he dipped a little bit but he was able to get that second win to come back you know and
40:24finish it quite strong so it was a really good contest for both they both learn about themselves
40:29and each other so much it's a point we'd like to see again you don't like to see a loser but there will
40:34be one tonight but either way they can both either one can come back from this and the winner will move
40:39on to maybe some sort of title shot in the near future such a such a shame that that crash is in
40:44the last round of calls that car yeah didn't need that alex murphy what a titanic effort from him
