00:00Meanwhile, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, or BFAR, has played a key role in improving the lives of fisherfolk families through its scholarship program.
00:11Dennis Nebrejo from the Philippine Information Agency, Memaropa, has more.
00:15The Fisheries Scholarship Program of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, or BFAR, Memaropa, is a significant help to the children of fisherfolk providing not just financial aid for tuition fees but also for future job opportunities.
00:31This is aligned with the President's policy to prioritize projects that will benefit every Filipino.
00:36One of the beneficiaries of the BFAR Scholarship Program is Beverly Paglinawan, who shared her experience with the program before entering the Marinduque State University's College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences in Gazan Campus and eventually finding a job.
00:52Paglinawan shared that the program provided crucial support in completing her studies, as her family was experiencing significant financial challenges prior to the introduction of the scholarship program.
01:04It was only later that Beverly learned about the scholarship program at Marsu, where she could be a full scholar for a course in Fisheries and Aquatic Science.
01:14This marked the beginning of a better life for her.
01:17As a BFAR scholar, she received a monthly living allowance of P5,000, a semester book allowance of P2,000, on-the-job training or practicum support of P3,000,
01:28special province support of P7,000, and graduation support of P1,500.
01:33To qualify for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements.
01:38Born in the Philippines, completed out senior high school or graduated from high school,
01:43at older than 25 years old at the time of the examination, have good moral character,
01:49come from economically disadvantaged background, and among others.
01:53From the Philippine Information Agency, Memoropa,
