00:00Thank you so much for coming. My name is Max Holleyn. I'm the director and CEO of the Met, and it's my pleasure, of course, to welcome you to what is certainly a highly anticipated event, the preview of our Spring Costume Institute exhibition of this year.
00:17Superfine, tailoring black style explores the importance of sartorial style to the formation of black identities in the Atlantic diaspora, and it does that in truly remarkable scale and breadth.
00:36It's a groundbreaking and very timely presentation, highlighting the power of style, the power of style to transform one's identity and challenge existing hierarchies, and while doing that, unlocking new possibilities.
00:55It is a powerful show. It's a complex show. It's also a complex story to tell.
