00:00Monday and of course the celebrations will happen between now and VE Day itself on Thursday.
00:06Let's go to Sophie Reaper at the moment who is in Wrexham in the town hall there. Morning Sophie.
00:14Morning to you both. Well the band has finished but we're now involved in some dancing. They're
00:21just taking a brief pause while the music changes. But let's see if we can speak to some people
00:27whilst we wait for the dancing to recommence here. Excuse me my lovely, can I ask you a quick
00:32question? Are you having a good day today celebrating VE Day? Brilliant. I think you win the award for the
00:38best hat. Are you enjoying the dancing? Loving it. Thank you. Loving it. Oh I'm so glad. What about
00:44yourself my lovely? Are you having a good day? Oh wonderful yes. How special is it to be marking
00:49VE Day 80 years on? I remember the day. I remember it very well. I've got some pictures. We're dancing
00:55on a Monday. Yeah. Well here she is. It's the lady of the hour. It's the dance teacher. She's got more
01:00energy than perhaps anyone I've ever met before. Let's go and see if we can have a quick word with
01:05her. Although she is. She's currently teaching. Julie let me ask you. How important is dancing? How
01:11important is that to feeling free? Oh it's amazing. We wanted to be dancing to free but I can't get the
01:17song. So we're dancing on our theme tune which is dancing on the Monday. Glam up. Do your hair.
01:25Don't say no. And how special is it to be marking VE Day 80 years on? Amazing. Yeah? Yeah absolutely Sophie.
01:33We love it. You're absolutely fabulous. Thank you. Shall we get involved? I think hang on let's see if I can
01:39come on. Come on. It's hard with a microphone I'll tell you that. But yeah. Live TV eh? There's nothing
01:47like it. But it's it's I'm having the best time today. We've had Welsh cakes. We've had tea. We've
01:54had dancing. The bunting is out and we're raising money for the Royal British Legion which is of course
01:59very very important. And the mood the atmosphere here Bevan Andrew. It's all about celebrating. You can see
02:06there. You can see on the screen a shared moment of celebration. And that is what today is all about.
02:12It's celebrating the sacrifice that was made all those years ago by our men and women. And marking
02:19that and celebrating what they sacrificed to give us. And that is of course our freedom. A phenomenal day
02:26here in Lankolyn Town Hall. I better get back to my dance class now so I'll leave you to it. Oh cha-cha.
02:32Brilliant Sophie. Well done. Absolutely fantastic. She's quite a good mover isn't she? I want whatever
02:38they're drinking in Wrexham. I do.
