NCP MP’s claim on Nehru’s role in Maharashtra formation sparks political controversy

Mumbai, May 5, 2025 (ANI): Speaking on Gauravshali Maharashtra Mahotsav 2025, the Nationalist Congress Party MP of Loksabha Sunil Tatkare said that Maharashtra was established with a lot of struggle in 1960 by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. That is why they are paying tribute at Gateway of India with water they have carried from across the country. He stated, " Maharashtra was established in 1960 by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru... there were a lot of struggles behind the formation of Maharashtra...we have paid tribute at Gateway of India with water we carried from across the country..."
