00:15canvas as part of the VEN 25 Plus campaign for the May 25th parliamentary elections.
00:21In Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized that she will not accept a US
00:29military presence in the country.
00:35And as part of its genocidal and colonialist plans for the Middle East, the Israeli-Sinist
00:40regime called up 60,000 for service to expand the occupation in Palestine.
00:50Hello and welcome to From the South.
00:51I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:54We begin with the news.
00:59In Venezuela, the head of the VEN 25 Plus campaign, Jorge Rodriguez, carried out a nationwide House-to-House
01:14canvas from the San Agustin Parish in the capital city to Sucre State.
01:19The candidates of the Simon Bolivar Great Patriotic Poll have been interacting directly with the
01:25community, making these visits in view of the May 25th parliamentary elections.
01:32Rodriguez stressed the importance of building a government of the people, highlighting that
01:36direct contact with the communities is the key to advancing concrete solutions for the
01:41country.
01:42In this sense, he urged citizens to vote on May 25th against fascism, sanctions and the violence
01:49perpetrated by the United States against Venezuelan migrants, supported by members of the extreme
01:54right wing.
01:56Nicolás Maduro, together with his people, defeated the sanctions, defeated the blockade.
02:12And now the time has come for construction and joy.
02:16The time has come for joy in families and for there to be joy in this construction.
02:26And that is why the day of the Cross of May is propitious to say.
02:33We promise before the Cross of May, and we know that the time has come to get inside, in
02:40every house, in every community, to solve the problems of the people.
02:47On the other hand, members of the Venezuelan opposition carried out electoral campaign acts
02:52in the state of Falcón, Anzuategui and Táxira in view of the regional and parliamentary elections.
02:58Likewise, the candidates of the Democratic Action Party, Justice First Party, National Democratic
03:04Confederation and Social Christian Party toured the streets nationwide, calling citizens
03:11to vote next May 25th.
03:13In this sense, representatives of the opposition subscribed to the denunciation made by the national
03:20government in rejection to the actions of the Guyanese government against the Venezuelan
03:241770 over the Ezequivo territory.
03:33Commemoration activities to celebrate the eightieth anniversary of the victory of the
03:37Soviet Union over Nazi Germany began around the world.
03:41In Venezuela, several activities were carried out to remember the falling of the Second World
03:46War.
03:47Let's see details with our colleague, Bruno Fagi.
03:50The March of the Immortal Regiment is considered one of the largest popular demonstrations in
03:57Russia.
03:59In Caracas people also marched to pay tribute to the eightieth anniversary of the victory
04:04of the Red Army over the Third Reich and the sacrifice of over 23 million Soviet people
04:10to liberate the world from Nazi fascism.
04:12We are very grateful to Venezuela for giving us the opportunity to pay tribute to our ancestors
04:23and our grandparents who participated in the Second World War.
04:28There were 20 million people who died.
04:32This is a very important date for all of us and we want history never to be forgotten.
04:42With banners, images reflecting the faces of the fallen as well as flags of Venezuela, Russia,
04:49Belarus and above all of the Soviet Union, the participants rallied and marched in the name
04:55of the memory of those men and women who changed the history of humanity.
05:05I am daughter of Sergei Ignatović.
05:08He is my dad who participated in the Second World War.
05:14He came out alive.
05:16He was fighting in the city of Kerch.
05:18He was wounded very badly.
05:21He was evacuated at that time and all comrades of him who stayed died.
05:29My mom, it's my grandfather, and his brother are all World War II veterans.
05:38At the end of the march on the Procerz Promenade, artists played Soviet songs and typical Slavic
05:46dances were performed.
05:50Representatives of Venezuela, Russia and Belarus spoke to the audience about the importance
05:56of this day.
06:00In memory of the soldiers who defeated fascism.
06:04And that the struggle for memory, truth, and peace continues.
06:11It is precisely these values, anti-fascism, the desire for freedom, independence, and justice
06:20that continue to unite Russia and Venezuela today.
06:27The Bolivarian revolution, knowing that it has an enormous responsibility in Venezuela,
06:33but even more in Latin America, that it has an enormous responsibility before the world.
06:38We, the organized Venezuelan people, must know how to stop the fascism that tries to take
06:44political power under any circumstances in Venezuela.
06:48We must stop it.
06:52The Venezuelan government organizes these activities to demonstrate the country's commitment to
06:57the international struggle against fascism, as well as the closeness and friendship among
07:04its peoples in the search for a more just and multipolar world.
07:09In the camera of Jesus Romero, Bruno Falci, Caracas, Venezuela, to Telesur.
07:18In Cuba, ministers of tourism and authorities of the Bolivarian Alliance for the People of
07:23America People's Trade Treaty, ALBA TCP, met to discuss the new challenges in the tourism sector.
07:29After materializing each of the agreements taken, the regional experiences and the results will
07:34be the basis for the first ALBA TCP International Tourism Fair to be held next year.
07:40Technical teams of the main areas of the sector agreed on strategies for the promotion of regional
07:46tourism.
07:47Among the proposals presented this Saturday, a tour operator of the area has proposed to use
07:53its agency to commercialize multi-destinational products.
07:58Cuba and Venezuela have negotiated, through two of their tourism agencies, a multi-destination
08:05product with the Chinese market.
08:11And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at

08:31Welcome back to From the South.
08:32In Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized that she will not accept a US military presence
08:38in her country despite pressure from the White House.
08:42The Mexican head of state acknowledged the constant pressure accepted by her counterpart for the United
08:48States military forces to provide alleged assistance in security matters.
08:53During the inauguration of an educational center in Texcoco, the Mexican head of state declared
08:59that her country's sovereignty is inviolable, for which reason she will not accept any foreign
09:04presence in its territory.
09:06Sheinbaum stressed that her administration does not rule out working with the United States to
09:11combat organized crime gangs, but each on its own side for off the border.
09:15Yesterday, it appeared in a U.S. newspaper, the Wall Street Journal, that President Trump,
09:33in one of the calls, told me that it was important for the U.S. Army to enter Mexico to help us in the
09:44fight against drug trafficking.
09:47And I want to say that it is true, that in some of the calls, but not in the way he mentions
09:55it.
09:56He said, how can we help you to fight drug trafficking?
10:00I propose that the U.S. Army enter Mexico to help us.
10:05And you know what I say?
10:08No, President Trump.
10:10The territory is inviolable and sovereignty is inviolable.
10:16Sovereignty isn't for sale.
10:19Sovereignty is loved and defended.
10:22In Peru, eight people were injured in an ambush by an armed group working for illegal
10:27miners in the northern province of Patas.
10:29The attack was an attempt to take over the Arakoto camp of the Carabalí Mining Company
10:35when six miners together with two policemen were entering the company's processing plant.
10:40The state news agency Andina reported that six of the wounded were transferred by helicopter
10:46to the city of Trujillo, capital of La Libertad, to a high-complexity hospital.
10:51The ambush was preceded last week by the kidnapping by illegal miners and criminals in their service,
10:57according to the official vision, who took over an area where artisanal miners were extracting gold.
11:10In Russia, the ninth solemn ceremony of the transfer of the fire of memory is held at the
11:15top of the unknown soldiers in Moscow.
11:18This ceremony takes place every year on the walls of the Kremlin and in several other countries
11:24around the world in which representatives of the Popular Front transfer part villas of
11:30the eternal flame to more than 130 cities in Russia and at least 21 countries in Europe,
11:37Asia and Africa.
11:39This year Venezuela was the first country to receive the flame handed over to the Venezuelan
11:44ambassador to Russia, Jesús Salazar Velázquez, to then set out towards the city of Caracas
11:50in the hands of the representative of the Popular Front, Pavel Bereshansky.
11:58And Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel arrived Sunday in St. Petersburg, Russia, as part of
12:03the celebrations for the eightieth anniversary of the Victory Day over fascism and also to
12:08celebrate 65 years of bilateral relations.
12:12The Cuban President and his accompanying delegation landed at Pulkov Airport when they were met by
12:18St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglo along with officials from the Russian Foreign Ministry
12:24among other Russian authorities.
12:26On this official visit, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel will be visiting important scientific
12:31institutions related to biotechnology, energy and artificial intelligence.
12:44Also in Russia, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova denounced the serious insecurity
12:49faced by Russian journalists in the international arena.
12:53The Russian Foreign Ministry, through a statement, pointed out that despite the speeches of international
12:59organizations, Russia made media professionals are victims of repression, harassment and selective
13:08assassinations, especially in conflict zones such as Ukraine.
13:12Zakharova recalled that so far in 2025, five Russian journalists have been killed by the Ukrainian
13:18army and five others have been wounded.
13:21While the world commemorates freedom of the press, the country exposes a system that only defends
13:27those who align themselves with the Western geopolitical interests.

14:19Welcome back to From the South.
14:21The Israeli-Syanist regime called up 60,000 reservists to expand the occupation in Palestine as part
14:28of its xenocidal and colonialist actions in the Middle East.
14:31According to local media reports, most of the reservists will be sent to the Lebanese border,
14:37to Syria or to the occupied West Bank with the purpose of releasing regular combat units
14:42for relocation to Gaza.
14:44The decision generated strong criticisms from the families of the Israeli hostages held in
14:50Gaza, who warned that intensifying the military campaign would only endanger their lives.
14:56The families blamed Prime Minister Benjamin Ranyahu for sacrificing the hostages for military
15:01objectives instead of trying to rescue them.
15:05They also directly addressed Israel's chief of staff, Ejal Samir, urging him to hold any
15:11further operations in Gaza.
15:18The United States House of Representatives will vote on a bill that would impose serious sanctions
15:24on citizens who participate in boycotts of the Israeli regime.
15:28If passed, the legislation would expand existing US anti-boycott laws to penalize those who engage
15:34in peaceful political action, especially those who align themselves with the boycott, divestment
15:40and sanction movement.
15:41The legislation, co-sponsored by pro-Israeli Mike Lawler and Josh Gothamere, proposes punishment
15:49of up to $1 million in fines or up to 20 years in prison.
15:54Human rights organizations condemned the bill, warning that it would criminalize freedom of
15:59expression, which is protected by the Constitution.
16:08As the world celebrates World Press Freedom Day on May 3, Palestinian journalists in the
16:13Gaza Strip suffer one of the saddest chapters in the history of the press.
16:17More than 200 Palestinian journalists have been killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7,
16:232023, by the genocidal aggression carried out by the Zionist entity of Israel.
16:29At least 47 of them died while they were covering attacks against the Palestinian population and
16:35documenting the ongoing genocide.
16:37The United Nations documented a systematic pattern of the occupation of targeting people
16:42with press vests or filming equipment as well as exterminating their families in their
16:48homes.
16:54In other news, Iran reported an explosion in the city of Mashhad, the second most populated
16:59city in the country.
17:00The incident occurred at a motorcycle factory, which caused the smoke plums to spread nearby.
17:06According to local news, the site of the explosion is a large warehouse covering an area of about
17:124,000 square meters that was severely damaged in the resulting fire.
17:17The Iranian Fire Brigade reported that the event took place at a motorcycle factory located
17:23near the electro-steel factory.
17:25No information was given about casualties.
17:41In South Sudan, at least three people were killed and 20 others were wounded in a helicopter and
17:46drone attack on the town of Gold Fangak and at Doctors Without Borders Hospital.
17:52The attack began in the early hours of Sunday morning when two helicopter gunships first dropped
17:57a bomb on the hospital pharmacy and then fired on the town of Old Fangak.
18:03The hospital pharmacy was destroyed and all medical supplies for the population were lost.
18:08In this regard, the County Commissioner Biel Boutros declared that helicopters and drones
18:15belonged to the South Sudan Defence Forces while denouncing that the violence caused the displacement
18:21of more than 30,000 people from the city.
18:33Around 300 civilians, including 15 women and 21 children, were killed in recent days by the
18:39paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces in Nahud.
18:42The Sudanese National Human Rights Commission said that this new massacre against civilians
18:48comes on top of the looting of medical supplies, markets and the hospital of Nahud.
18:53In the last few days, several local organizations warned that several civilians were executed
18:59in the city by the paramilitary, who since the beginning of the war have killed hundreds
19:05of civilians after accusing them of belonging to the army.
19:09The war in South Sudan broke out on April 15, 2023 and since then tens of thousands of people
19:16have died and more than 12 and a half million others have been forced to flee their homes.
19:21In Gabon, the head of the military board, Bryce Oligi Ngema, took office today as president
19:31after leading a 19-month transitional government.
19:35The general ratified his favoritism in the April elections with 94.85% of the votes after
19:42leading a coup d'etat on August 30, 2023.
19:46The victory gives him a seven-year term under the new constitution approved last November
19:52and puts an end to the more than 50 years of control by the family of former President
19:57Ali Bongo.
19:59Among the main concerns of President Oligi Ngema are the aging power grid, youth unemployment,
20:06road infrastructure and the country staffed.
20:13In Singapore, following the general election, the People's Action Party , which has governed
20:19since independence in 1965, won 90% of the seats.
20:23According to official data from the official newspaper The Straits Times, Prime Minister
20:29Lawrence Wong won 87 of the 97 parliamentary seats for more than in 2020, while the Opposition
20:36Workers' Party won 10 seats.
20:39These elections were seen more as a plebiscite on the leadership of Wong, a 52-year-old economist
20:45who took office in May 2024.
20:48This voting differentiated from others in that it was the first time that a candidate from
20:54the Li dynasty, the architect of the radical transformation of the Asian city-state, did
21:00not compete.
