00:00Royal Challengers Bengaluru started their IPL 2025 campaign in stunning fashion by defeating
00:13Chennai Super Kings by 50 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The victory was more than just a win.
00:21It ended a 17-year drought for RCB at Chipok, where they had not won since the very first
00:27IPL season in 2008. Batting first, RCB posted a strong total of 196 for seven. Rajat Patidar played
00:43a crucial innings, scoring 50 off 30 balls, while opener Phil Salt gave the team early momentum
00:49with a fiery 32 from just 16 balls. Even though CSK's Noor Ahmad tried to stem the flow with
00:57a tidy spell that brought him three wickets, the Bengaluru side kept up the pressure.
01:03Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomroor chipped in with valuable runs in the final overs to set
01:09a challenging target. CSK's chase faltered from the very start. Josh Huzzlewood struck twice in the
01:22power play, dismissing Rahul Tripathi and captain Ruttaraj Gaikwad in quick succession. That early blow
01:29left CSK reeling at 30 for three. Rajan Ravindra tried to bring some stability with a 41-run knock,
01:37but the middle order struggled to build partnerships under the weight of RCB's disciplined bowling.
01:43Despite a late burst from MS Dhoni, who walked in near the end and hammered an unbeaten 30 off 16 balls,
01:56the task proved too much. CSK finished at 146 for eight, well short of the target. RCB's bowling attack,
02:05led by Hazelwood and well-supported by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal, kept things tight and never
02:12allowed the Chennai batters to break free. After the match, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming admitted
02:25that the team has struggled to read the Chapak pitch in recent seasons. He noted that the home advantage
02:31hasn't played out the way they expected and suggested that the team may need to adjust its tactical approach.
02:43For RCB, this was more than just two points. It was a symbolic win, breaking a long-standing hoodoo
02:50and injecting early momentum into their 2025 season. With this victory, they've not only made a statement,
02:58but also shown signs of a more balanced and mature squad, ready for the long tournament ahead.
