00:00The new Warrawong Community Health Centre is part of the integrated network of
00:04health facilities that the government is investing in to make sure that we have
00:07the world-class services in this region that our growing population needs. We've
00:12seen a network of infrastructure facilities being invested in a new
00:16ambulance station at Ferry Meadow, upgrades to Wollongong Hospital, the new
00:20build of Shell Harbour Hospital and of course here at the former Port Kembla
00:24Hospital site, the new Warrawong Community Health Centre, which will
00:28provide a range of services from childhood health, sexual health, drug and
00:33alcohol and equipment pool for loan for people in the area.
00:37This is an important day and I want to, he won't say it, but I want to acknowledge some of the key work that
00:43Minister Scully has got, has done to get us to this point. Many years ago we sat down
00:48with Minister Hazard and talked about the health needs in the region. The focus on
00:52obviously Shell Harbour and then with us there'll be a focus on Wollongong.
00:56What Paul wanted to do was make sure this community didn't miss out and at that point
01:01he negotiated this particular health service for the community. This is
01:05absolutely critical for this local community. It's essentially a health
01:09service all-in-one providing those services from childhood through to
01:14sexual health, through the drug and alcohol, through the equipment that people
01:17can loan, through the community mental health and community nursing. This is what we are
01:22determined to do in terms of improving health services for the region.
01:27We are determined in our community to manage our community, be sure for the community.
01:31It's not limited to the community but it's not limited to the communities
01:35that are being sponsored by the community.
