00:00:00Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:30Today will surely be the day that Liverpool win their 20th league title.
00:00:53Luis Diaz, he's absolutely hammered that. They have roared into a 3-1 league and that is the Premier League won by the Premier League's player of the season, champions of England for the 20th time.
00:01:07He's done an exceptional job with an exceptional team.
00:01:11The only thing I can do now is I send my appreciation to Jürgen.
00:01:15Jürgen Klopp!
00:01:17Congratulations Liverpool on clinching the Premier League title.
00:01:37These two both know that feeling. The stakes aren't quite so high tonight, but the fight for European football next season continues.
00:01:44Arsenal's priorities the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against PSG on Wednesday, but they remain on course to finish second for the third season in a row.
00:01:54Bournemouth up next at the Emirates and Guy Mourbury was watching.
00:01:59Arsenal's in-between game could be more than a little tricky, with points still potentially needed for more Champions League football next season.
00:02:07And they face a Bournemouth side still with hopes of a historic first ever European qualification.
00:02:13Well, for Arsenal, only two changes from Tuesday against PSG, with Ben White coming in for Jurian Timber and right back.
00:02:22And Mikel Marino makes way for Thomas Partey. Much missed from the midfield four nights ago.
00:02:27And there's a 100th Gunners game for Declan Rice.
00:02:30Bournemouth got the boost of Evan Nielsen's red card last weekend, rightly being rescinded.
00:02:36And so he plays again, although there are three changes from the draw against Manchester United.
00:02:41As Julian Araujo, Lewis Cook and Marcus Tavernier come in.
00:02:47Bournemouth have lost all of their eight games that they've ever played away to Arsenal, only scoring four goals along the way.
00:02:55And they will come here today feeling they've got as good a chance as they've ever had.
00:03:00Ordigard.
00:03:05Lovely ball in for Rice. Rice has a look, but can't find a corner.
00:03:10Well-timed run, wasteful finish.
00:03:14Seven goals this season, Declan Rice, and four of those have come in his last 11 games.
00:03:19Michael Arteta has congratulated Liverpool on their title, but he did admit that it hurts big time.
00:03:31And that his team haven't achieved what they wanted in Premier League terms this season.
00:03:35Houssen.
00:03:39Kerkhez.
00:03:40Really good ball!
00:03:41Oh, should have been buried.
00:03:44That's a golden chance.
00:03:46But Evan Nielsen spurned it.
00:03:49You can't ask for better as a centre-forward than a cross like this.
00:03:54Kerkhez has put it on a plate and gift-wrapped it.
00:03:58And Evan Nielsen can't get over the top of it.
00:04:00Danger there for Kepa.
00:04:09Kerkhez didn't help his keeper out at all.
00:04:12Here's Trossard as the game starts to heat up.
00:04:15Trossard pulls it in.
00:04:17Saka.
00:04:19Martinelli had to wait for it, and he's planted it wide.
00:04:23Kerkhez and Kepa got themselves in a proper tangle.
00:04:27Trossard's done well.
00:04:30Pass not quite where Martinelli wanted it.
00:04:33He had to make a slight adjustment.
00:04:36But he should have got the shot on target, shouldn't he?
00:04:38Oh, he's cut right across it.
00:04:42It's a scuffer.
00:04:45Odegaard.
00:04:48Rice.
00:04:51Martinelli fancies it against Julian Araujo every time.
00:04:56And he's got half a yard away again, and it's Trossard!
00:04:59And saved by Kepa right on the line.
00:05:03Martinelli once more nearly the provider of a goal.
00:05:07Trossard couldn't have done much more.
00:05:10Got plenty on it.
00:05:12Couldn't direct it far enough away from Kepa Arrizabalaga.
00:05:15Odegaard.
00:05:17Rice.
00:05:18Gets to it before Kepa!
00:05:20Keeping net.
00:05:211-0 Arsenal.
00:05:23He wasn't going to miss that one.
00:05:24Saka, Partey, Odegaard, Rice.
00:05:25All playing in the positions they want to be in.
00:05:28And that takes Declan Rice on to eight goals this season.
00:05:29One better than he managed in his first Gunners campaign.
00:05:30A goal to mark a century of games.
00:05:33He wasn't going to miss that one.
00:05:38Saka, Partey, Odegaard, Rice, all playing in the positions they want to be in.
00:05:45And that takes Declan Rice on to eight goals this season,
00:05:48one better than he managed in his first Gunners campaign.
00:05:54A goal to mark a century of games.
00:06:03Odegaard, it wasn't a good pass by Raya.
00:06:08Ewa Nielsen goes to chip the keeper, but he's cleared the lock.
00:06:12Well, Bournemouth's opportunities are falling to the player they'd want them to fall to.
00:06:18And the number nine's been off target every time so far.
00:06:22That was a present from David Raya.
00:06:26A 1-0 lead can be a dangerous thing for Mikel Arteta's team.
00:06:31They've failed to win nine Premier League matches from leading this season.
00:06:36Lewis Skelling.
00:06:39Arsenal look as though...
00:06:42They are now more in the mood than they have been before to get a second goal
00:06:45and try and make this a whole lot safer.
00:06:49More intent about their attacking play here.
00:06:51And they're finding the spaces. This is Saka in one.
00:06:54And Saka making the chance for himself, but he didn't miss by much.
00:06:57Not much at all.
00:06:59It was definitely on for it.
00:07:02Only a bit more Ben needed.
00:07:06Kerketz.
00:07:08Closed. Odegaard looking for Trossard.
00:07:10The bounce wasn't kind to him.
00:07:12Semenyo.
00:07:14Tapania.
00:07:15And here goes Semenyo.
00:07:16Evan Nielsen skidding through third to sixth gear in the middle for him.
00:07:18And Semenyo's let it run too far.
00:07:19He's going to go out for a throw-in.
00:07:20Should have been an opportunity to make it 1-1 at some point there.
00:07:21It's kind of how it's been for Bournemouth all afternoon.
00:07:22Goes for the launch.
00:07:23Really good one.
00:07:24And it's in.
00:07:25Semenyo makes his mark by throwing in for Dean Housen to head in the middle.
00:07:29And Semenyo's let it run too far.
00:07:30And Semenyo's let it run too far.
00:07:31He's going to go out for a throw-in.
00:07:32Should have been an opportunity to make it 1-1 at some point there.
00:07:35It's kind of how it's been for Bournemouth all afternoon.
00:07:37It goes for the launch.
00:07:40Really good one.
00:07:41And it's in.
00:07:42Semenyo makes his mark by throwing in for Dean Housen to head in.
00:07:46It's a great throw-in.
00:07:47Got that just right, Semenyo.
00:07:48Right into the danger zone.
00:07:49And Housen watched it all the way, holding off all those in red to glance it with precision.
00:08:08Past the dive of David Ryan.
00:08:11Our Arsenal about to throw away another Premier League lead.
00:08:15Kai Havertz has been out since February but looks in good spirits with the news this week
00:08:20that he might well make a return before the end of the season.
00:08:23It was thought that that was him done.
00:08:25And Scott bundles past White.
00:08:31Now faced by Partey.
00:08:33And Saliba takes over.
00:08:38Partey.
00:08:41Alex Scott.
00:08:42He's pestering him.
00:08:43Saliba's lost the ball to Tyler Adams.
00:08:48Bournemouth on top here.
00:08:50Watara.
00:08:52That's Tavernier.
00:08:53And it was deflected.
00:08:54It's going to be a corner.
00:08:56And Arsenal from leading and if not quite cruising then certainly in more or less a semblance of control.
00:09:04Suddenly are hanging on.
00:09:09So who goes where for this one?
00:09:11Nobody putting pressure on Raya.
00:09:14Not from the get-go anyway.
00:09:16So Barney's been kept away from the Arsenal keeper.
00:09:19Glanced by Tavernier.
00:09:21And it's bundled in at the back.
00:09:23Bournemouth have turned it around.
00:09:25Evan Nielsen got the final touch.
00:09:29Arsenal have collapsed here.
00:09:31One from a throw, one from a corner.
00:09:34Two in the net for the cherries.
00:09:36There is just going to be one last check.
00:09:40They're just going to make sure it doesn't come off Evan Nielsen's arm here.
00:09:44If it's off his elbow it's staying 1-1.
00:09:47And it's a huge let-off for Arsenal.
00:09:49You can't see whether it's side or elbow.
00:09:50Not absolutely 100%.
00:09:55Bournemouth do have the lead.
00:10:03Time's up for Arsenal.
00:10:05There was always the sense in the air that this was a game the Gunners could have done without.
00:10:11There's a warm hug of congratulations from Mikel Arteta
00:10:15to his long-term former youth team colleague at Real Sociedad, Andoni Hiraiola.
00:10:22And for Bournemouth this is a day that will live long in the memory
00:10:25because for the first time in their history they have won away to Arsenal.
00:10:30Arsenal failed to win for a tenth time in a Premier League match that they have led in this season.
00:10:37It's Bournemouth's day in North London.
00:10:39Andoni a win at Arsenal for the first time in Bournemouth's history. How does that feel?
00:10:46Feels very good. We've told before the game we didn't even get one point never here from this stadium.
00:10:52So it has been a great moment.
00:10:55We've been quite constructive in the half-time, continue doing the same things, try to push a little bit more,
00:11:00take even a little bit more of risk, but today the game were probably the set plays.
00:11:06I think to score offensively, the throwing, the long throw from Ant and the routine from the corner,
00:11:14I think sometimes you need these kind of things to go your way to make a difference and today they helped us.
00:11:20As regards your goal, throw-in, header, easy game football isn't it?
00:11:24You'd think so, you'd think so.
00:11:26Have you seen him put that sort of length on a throw-in before? Because that was a fantastic throw.
00:11:31Yeah, before today I was always making jokes with him, saying that he couldn't throw it far and everything
00:11:38because we tried it in a few other games and I was kind of, you know, just laughing at him, you know, just a bit of banter.
00:11:47Yeah, so I think he proved me wrong today, so I can't say anything anymore.
00:11:52Well, Mikel, how was that allowed to happen today?
00:11:55We had a moment that we should have killed the game with so many open situations, open chances,
00:12:00and we didn't, and on top of that you defend your box in two set pieces the way we've done it, you are in big trouble.
00:12:06Obviously we want to generate a momentum, a really positive vibe today.
00:12:10We haven't, what we certainly created is a lot of rage, frustration, anger in our tummies.
00:12:17Make sure that we use that for Wednesday.
00:12:20Yes, Bournemouth do the double over Arsenal for the first time in their history.
00:12:24Set pieces have often been the Gunners' strengths, Joe, but today they were very much their weakness.
00:12:30They really were, and they were definitely Bournemouth's strength.
00:12:32Really, really streetwise, we're going to see in the first clip that it wasn't just down to the organisation and the quality.
00:12:39You know, Hauston talking about Semenyo and this being such a surprise package, but he actually is really clever here,
00:12:45because he technically should be taking that throw in from that, where the ball has exited the pitch.
00:12:50Yeah, that's the law.
00:12:51Yeah, but he manages to grab five or six yards. We're going to see in a minute where he comes in and get himself a lot better angle for launch.
00:12:57Yeah.
00:12:58Now, David Ray will be aware that Semenyo's got a long throw, but that really has come in, and there'll be lots of people saying,
00:13:02why is David Ray not coming and dealing with that?
00:13:04Yeah.
00:13:05I'm going to show you here. I say, this is a surprise, and David Ray has to make his decision right now.
00:13:10And you can see that he's made his decision that he's not going to come.
00:13:12There's a lot of bodies.
00:13:13There's a lot of bodies. He's not used to that trajectory. It's caught them all by surprise.
00:13:17There'll be a little thought process in his head. All sorts goes in your head as a goalkeeper.
00:13:21Can I come? Should I come? No, I'm not coming. He's made that decision, which is the best thing to do.
00:13:25He's clear. He's turned. He's set. Housen there on the six-yard box, getting no help from his defenders.
00:13:31Still, he's in a great position, but the header is just perfect, and we've got one of the most agile goalkeepers in the Premier League.
00:13:37We can't get over to that. It's a perfect header.
00:13:40We talked about the vision, and his long throw is so dangerous when it's well executed.
00:13:44Look at the chaos that it causes. A well-organised Arsenal defence that's been brilliant all season.
00:13:49And we talk about organisation and executing a plan here.
00:13:52Saka. Arsenal's not their best header of a ball. He's got Tavernier and Kerkhez to deal with.
00:13:58And as the ball comes in, he hedges his bets. He thinks Kerkhez.
00:14:02Tavernier gets there. Really good header. Looks a simple goal.
00:14:06Emma Nielsen at the back post. But you look here. Every single one of the Bournemouth players that's involved in this.
00:14:12And there's not many of them compared to the Arsenal, but they're occupying. They're making it so, so difficult.
00:14:16Eight Arsenal players defending four Bournemouth players.
00:14:19But Evan Nielsen's got his eyes at the back post, and you just see Odegaard's been watching the ball come in.
00:14:24This is the moment he decides, I'm just focusing on my player.
00:14:27Evan Nielsen has one eye on the ball. He knows he's just got to get some part of his body on it from that close.
00:14:32It makes it so difficult for Rea. Hit the elbow.
00:14:35I say some part of his body. VAR checked it. Definitely worth checking. Inconclusive.
00:14:40My opinion, that hits his side. I don't think it hits his arm.
00:14:43And it's a really important goal, and it wins them the game.
00:14:45Yeah.
00:14:46Mikel Arteta said they should have killed the game off, but it's been a regular occurrence for Arsenal this season not doing that.
00:14:53I cannot believe how many opportunities they gave up to have a shot at goal.
00:14:58They created the chances, but for whatever reason, for some reason, they just didn't want to take the shot.
00:15:03The opportunities were just incredible. This is a really good situation here.
00:15:08Now, when this ball comes in, he's got plenty time to see that, Martin. I need to adjust his feet.
00:15:12He can hit that first time. By the time he takes a touch, it's too late.
00:15:16He then lays it into trossard. Why can't you hit that with your left foot?
00:15:19The gap is there. He tries to work it onto his right foot.
00:15:22By the time you make your mind up to do that, you're going to get closed down at any level, let alone Premier League level.
00:15:28Then they miss the opportunity with Saka's header.
00:15:31He can shoot there, albeit a tight angle. He chooses not to, but then it's certainly not over.
00:15:38Saka then, I think he can shoot now, but then what does he do?
00:15:43He takes another extra touch there, then that pushes him a bit further wide and then also gives the defender to get time to set himself.
00:15:51But the opportunities, there's no doubt, was there. I think he could hit that first time as well.
00:15:55You saw the other opportunity where he tries to work it onto his left foot.
00:15:58They've got it onto his left foot there and he still doesn't try and get the shot away at goal.
00:16:04It's a really, really good opportunity. When Yeri comes on, he doesn't have the shot.
00:16:09He can roll it back into Odegaard. He chooses not to, but there were so many.
00:16:16It was just incredible and that's why he mentioned the word anger and frustration and rage.
00:16:22Then you look at the top goal scorers at Arsenal. I know they've had injuries and got injuries.
00:16:27Kai Havertz hasn't played for, what, three months now?
00:16:30I know. And he's still their top scorer at nine. Nowhere near good enough.
00:16:33So, not good enough today defending set pieces again and certainly not good enough today in front of goal.
00:16:39Mikel Arteta talked about that anger that you mentioned there and the frustration.
00:16:43And he said, we've got to take that onto Wednesday. Does it work like that?
00:16:47Er, no. Ideally, they would have wanted a win today to take the conference into the game onto Wednesday.
00:16:53But they've got to try somehow and put that disappointment behind them because that is their season on Wednesday.
00:16:58Indeed. Aston Villa and Fulham were both still in the mix for Europe.
00:17:02Villa needed a win to stay in Champions League contention.
00:17:05Fulham could still claim a place in the Europa Conference League.
00:17:08Steve Wilson was at Villa Park.
00:17:12April was the coolest month for Aston Villa.
00:17:15Out of Europe, out of the cup.
00:17:17But still very much in the equation to qualify for Europe and that could yet mean the Champions League.
00:17:23Villa make one change, the XI which started the FA Cup semi-final.
00:17:27Ian Martin's in for Luca Dina at left back.
00:17:30Oli Watkins needs one more goal to become Villa's top scorer in the Premier League era.
00:17:36Fulham beat Southampton last weekend.
00:17:38Two changes for them today.
00:17:39Anthony Robinson back from a knee problem.
00:17:42And in comes Sasha Lukic.
00:17:44Out go the injured Andreas Pereira and Willian who drops to the bench.
00:17:51Villa unbeaten in 19 games at home in all competitions.
00:17:57That's a really good ball to Ryan Sassignol.
00:18:03In behind Pau Torres here.
00:18:05Real Jimenez in the middle.
00:18:06There was a coming together between Jimenez and Conso.
00:18:09Play goes on.
00:18:12And it skims away from Wilson in the direction of Martsen.
00:18:15And now Villa might break down there.
00:18:17Left-hand side with Morgan Rodgers.
00:18:22Stepping inside of Teta.
00:18:23That's a lovely ball.
00:18:24Marco Asensio here.
00:18:27Well, it's a corner only.
00:18:29But it's a really good bit of play.
00:18:32This is a great ball into Sassignol.
00:18:35Had an alarming amount of room.
00:18:39Villa broke quickly.
00:18:40Broke well.
00:18:41And have a corner.
00:18:43Oh, great header.
00:18:44Yuri Chirinemans with a rushing, thumping header to put Aston Villa in front.
00:18:54Well, how did that happen?
00:18:58Direct from the corner.
00:19:01No coach is going to like conceding from a corner kick like this.
00:19:05But it's a brilliant header.
00:19:06Great contact.
00:19:07And Villa are in front.
00:19:10And it is over a decade since Fulham avoided defeat in games at Villa Park.
00:19:15Good turn from Tielemans.
00:19:16Great ball.
00:19:17Watkins can he get there?
00:19:18Not quite.
00:19:19This was a great ball from Yuri Tielemans.
00:19:34But that's a good bit of goalkeeping.
00:19:37Diane Leno right on his toes.
00:19:38Made 49 appearances for Arsenal under the management of Unai Emery.
00:19:47McGinn.
00:19:50Martsen.
00:19:57McGinn looking for Watkins.
00:19:59Robinson came in and just nudged Oli Watkins, but not enough.
00:20:03It's a chance to clear.
00:20:08Which I think is fair enough.
00:20:09It's a shoulder-to-shoulder.
00:20:18Martsen.
00:20:20Marco Esencio.
00:20:26McGinn.
00:20:28Tielemans.
00:20:30Oh, that wasn't far away.
00:20:32You know he can hit them.
00:20:37Well, he thinks it should be a corner.
00:20:41He struck it really well.
00:20:44There might have been a fingertip from Ben Leno on that.
00:20:47I think there was.
00:20:49The smile, perhaps, tells you that it was.
00:20:52Fulham have taken 18 points this season from losing positions.
00:20:59Manchester City 20 and Liverpool 22 are the only clubs to have taken more from a deficit.
00:21:05from a deficit.
00:21:08Cash making a run for Konza who delivers a lovely ball into his path.
00:21:12Oh, missed by Watkins.
00:21:14McGinn.
00:21:21Robinson's header. Cash for Aston Villa.
00:21:24And it's a goal kick.
00:21:25And it's a massive chance for Oli Watkins.
00:21:27I don't think Watkins made any contact at all with this.
00:21:36Here's Ian Martsen with an awkwardly bouncing ball.
00:21:38Iwobi got a foot in.
00:21:41Iwobi's cross.
00:21:43Glance from Lukic.
00:21:44Touch back to Sessignon.
00:21:46Sessignon.
00:21:47Shot goes in!
00:21:49Well, Villa were saying handball.
00:21:52And it's no goal.
00:21:54Sessignon often celebrating.
00:21:58But it's handball.
00:22:00Chris Kavanagh is the video assistant referee.
00:22:04It does hit his left hand.
00:22:08It's been checked and cleared.
00:22:13It's no goal.
00:22:14Run by Raul Jiménez.
00:22:15Here's Iwobi.
00:22:16Wilson's making the run.
00:22:17Iwobi's found it brilliantly.
00:22:19Oh, that would have been a fabulous goal.
00:22:21Well, Unai Emery is absolutely living.
00:22:23It's a brilliant ball from Iwobi.
00:22:25If Harry Wilson had lobbed that over the top of Emi Martinez into the back,
00:22:28of the net, it would have been a wonderful goal.
00:22:29Not one that Unai Emery would have been admiring, though, looking at that.
00:22:32Martinez for Onana,
00:22:34Conce for Cash.
00:22:35Oh, it's an excellent goal.
00:22:37There's a great goal.
00:22:38It's a brilliant ball from Iwobi.
00:22:40If Harry Wilson had lobbed that over the top of Emi Martinez into the back of the net,
00:22:45it would have been a wonderful goal.
00:22:47Not one that Unai Emery would have been admiring, though, looking at that.
00:22:54Martinez for Onana,
00:22:56Konza for Kansh.
00:23:02Rodgers has got away from Calvin Bassey.
00:23:05Beautifully weighted, Oli Watkins here for Aston Villa.
00:23:08Big save by Ben Leno.
00:23:11Well, Oli Watkins has scored four times in his last three games against Fulham.
00:23:16He's had a couple of big chances to add to that.
00:23:20Lukic.
00:23:26Bassey with a chance to cross here.
00:23:32It won't be in the middle, but not there. Wilson's header.
00:23:35No power on it, really.
00:23:38Well, it is an opportunity for Harry Wilson, but he had to generate a lot more power than that
00:23:43to trouble Emi Martinez.
00:23:46Well, it's missed by Castagne. Here's Watkins.
00:23:58And Ramsey. Tielemann's in a good position. Pau Torres!
00:24:02Another chance. Trickles away for Aston Villa. They've had a few now.
00:24:09Now Torres.
00:24:11Well, he could reach it. He just couldn't control it.
00:24:18Robinson.
00:24:19Good run, that. Good ball to Daniel Marlon.
00:24:33Not sure who that was intended for.
00:24:36But Rodgers has retrieved it and found Onana, and here's Rodgers, and Marlon nearly!
00:24:40Goes down as another opportunity.
00:24:46Daniel Marlon off target.
00:24:52Bernard Leonard's throwing the ball out because Harrison Reid is down here for Fulham.
00:24:58And they've used all their subs here.
00:25:00So, they'll hope that Reid's going to be okay.
00:25:05Harrison, oh, he's just pulled up there. Well, that's not looking good.
00:25:09And Fulham are down to ten.
00:25:12Because Harrison Reid is unable to continue.
00:25:17So, seven minutes to go. Fulham are a man down.
00:25:19Barkley for Ramsey, into Daniel Marlon, away from Anderson, and off the underside of the bar.
00:25:30Good run by Marlon, good pace to stay ahead of Joachim Anderson.
00:25:36And he really smashed it.
00:25:38Aston Villa take the points.
00:25:41They are still within range of Champions League qualification.
00:25:46It was a little bit nervy at the end.
00:25:51Obviously, the ground was a bit flat from last weekend.
00:25:56So, it was up to us today to put in a performance and a response to a disappointing exit.
00:26:02But I think you could see how important the win was to us, to the manager,
00:26:06and it keeps us on the heels of everyone and makes it for an exciting end to the season.
00:26:10It's very important because our objective is to try to play again in Europe.
00:26:14And in Europe, the Champions League is very important for the club, for our progress as well here.
00:26:22And try to get another way for a trophy.
00:26:25And the Champions League is the most difficult achievement we can have.
00:26:30And it's as well the opportunity we will have after the victory today.
00:26:33How many points do you think you might need, where do you think you might need to finish to get into Europe?
00:26:40It will be such an achievement for Fulham.
00:26:42We have to keep looking for the next one as the most important one.
00:26:45Now we have a final, like we had this final, like we had last week.
00:26:48A final now is a final with Everton and after it's going to be in the derby against Brentford and the last game against City.
00:26:52I just want to ask you about your goalscorer today, Juri Tielemans. He's become very, very important to you.
00:26:59He's playing, performing like we want, when we signed him two years ago.
00:27:05And his commitment is the most important for us. How he's every day, working every day,
00:27:11focusing our demands to get our objective collectively as well and, of course, individually, playing like he's playing.
00:27:17Yes, you know, I'm talking about Juri Tielemans, which sets you up for your analysis nicely.
00:27:24And we're doing my job for me, really.
00:27:27Oh, definitely. And he fully deserves to get the, you know, the analysis we're about to turn him,
00:27:32because it was an all-round performance that really led in a potential, in a flat-ish game.
00:27:37Juri Tielemans, who's his first go-to. This is what we know him for.
00:27:41This is what we knew he was bringing to Aston Villa, taking the ball in difficult circumstances
00:27:45and looking to create. Now, that's almost inch-perfect for Watkins.
00:27:50Beautiful bit of play. This is the bit that Unai Emery's talking about when he signed Tielemans.
00:27:54This is the player that he wanted him to become, an all-round team player, working hard,
00:27:59not just the pretty stuff, getting himself back in. We know how an Emery team looks when they're playing well.
00:28:04And it's not just offensively, it's defensively, making it so difficult for Fulham to create a chance.
00:28:08We saw him take the ball, turn and play a pass. Here, bouncing through the lines, showing his variety,
00:28:15getting on the front foot, looking to create. And look, we've seen this many times.
00:28:19That's one thing you can. You know Juri Tielemans from 30 yards out is dangerous,
00:28:23and that was actually an incredible save. But you cannot give him space.
00:28:26Fulham, game starting to open up, beautiful passing array. He can do everything.
00:28:30And this is another thing that he's bringing to the game as well. It's not just the deep-lying stuff.
00:28:35It's creating, getting into that box, almost that Frank Lampard run.
00:28:39And it's almost a perfect run as he comes in here.
00:28:41Now, one thing we did not expect from him.
00:28:45You know, our previously two-headed goal. Sasha Lukic is thinking,
00:28:49Kamara, he is my problem. He is my priority. I'm focused. I'm fully focused.
00:28:54Once Kamara exits the box, Sasha Lukic doesn't even think about Tielemans.
00:28:59He knows he's not, he's not a predator there. And that's such a good goal.
00:29:04What an important goal. An all-round performance. Deservedly man of the match today.
00:29:09Brilliant. I'm not sure I've ever mentioned it, but he scored the winning goal in the cup final for Leicester.
00:29:14Yeah, also. But look, he's been so regular. Look at that across Europe.
00:29:18Incredible numbers, and he's so important to Emery. And those numbers echo it all the way through Europe.
00:29:23He's, you know, creating, having those performance at the back end, the business end, still looking fit and strong.
00:29:27Probably him or Morgan Rodgers, I would say, for Villa's player of the season.
00:29:31Probably him, actually.
00:29:33A lot of talk about Oli Watkins, of late, and his situation.
00:29:38Seems to be a little bit of unrest, I don't know.
00:29:40Yeah, I would absolutely guess that, because it's alright being left out of a league game now and again,
00:29:45but when you're left out of the biggest games of the season, like he was doing against Paris Saint-Germain, then that's when you think, OK.
00:29:52He didn't score today, but I think he's one of the best in the league at doing this, making defenders' life difficult, running in behind.
00:30:01And it's a constant for him, and as we saw, we know defenders don't like doing that.
00:30:06It didn't quite work for him today. He did have one or two opportunities, this being one of them.
00:30:11Good run, lovely ball across, he just can't sort his feet out.
00:30:17But that's what I'm on about, about running in behind.
00:30:19And because of him being so good at that, he does create a lot of those opportunities, and he perhaps should score more goals than he does.
00:30:27But they'll have a decision to make, and he may have a decision to make, because he's got two years left, he's coming up to 30, so it's either sign a new contract or go elsewhere.
00:30:35And I guess, with the interest that was with him with Arsenal in January, I don't suspect that would have happened without him knowing about that, and all these people giving him the go-ahead.
00:30:45Yeah, possibly. Let's look at the Champions League race. Obviously we'll see City's game very shortly, but you know that was last night, so we can give that result away.
00:30:54But boy, it's tight.
00:30:57Really tight, yeah. Super tight. Man City's showing their quality, business end.
00:31:01Should be okay, I think, City. It's just, I think, probably, what, two from the other four?
00:31:06Newcastle being one of them, probably.
00:31:09Chelsea, yeah, I would say, even, I'm not just saying it because they're sixth and seventh at the minute, but Villa and Forrest, for me, would be maybe the ones.
00:31:19That Chelsea-Forrest game last game of the season could be really vital.
00:31:22Really vital.
00:31:23Okay, time for the big one.
00:31:25Relegated Leicester had lost their last nine at home without scoring.
00:31:29Southampton needed a point to push past Derby's lowest ever Premier League points tally of 11.
00:31:35Two teams banging form.
00:31:37Martin Fisher was at the King Palace.
00:31:39It's been called El Rubbisho and worse.
00:31:44It's certainly the deadest of all dead robbers.
00:31:47Two clubs who marched all the way up the hill last season have wasted no time in marching all the way back down the hill this.
00:31:54Five changes for Leicester, four enforced.
00:31:57Goalkeeper Jakob Stolacic makes his first appearance since January.
00:32:01That was their last win at Spurs.
00:32:03Southampton are unchanged.
00:32:04Skipper Jack Stephens got his first goal in five years last Saturday.
00:32:10He played for Saints in that 9-0 loss to Leicester five seasons ago.
00:32:16Southampton's relegation confirmed four weeks ago.
00:32:19Leicester's two weeks ago.
00:32:23Howard Ballas, Walker-Peters trying to get in behind Thomas.
00:32:26Across goes Cody.
00:32:28Forced concede the first quarter of the afternoon.
00:32:34As Stewart has been joined by all three of Southampton's central defenders.
00:32:41And header from Howard Ballas.
00:32:44Well saved by Stolacic.
00:32:47As others in bright yellow arrived, hoping for some kind of spillage.
00:32:53At the moment, I think we'd all agree, it's living up to expectations.
00:32:57From Thomas, that's nice, around the corner for El Canoos.
00:33:02Vardy has lost his marker in the middle.
00:33:04And El Canoos has fouled in!
00:33:06And Vardy sweeps it home!
00:33:09As Vardy always does!
00:33:111-9-9 in Leicester blue!
00:33:16For Jamie Vardy!
00:33:17Applause and cheers of absolute relief around the King Power Stadium.
00:33:26Leicester's first Premier League goal here since December the 8th.
00:33:312-1.
00:33:321-9.
00:33:35Well, Canoos...
00:33:37stopped by Howard Ballas.
00:33:38Downs onto Sulimana, referee has gone down.
00:33:42Facial injury, too, Jamie Vardy quickly across to blow the whistle
00:33:48and ensure that the rest of the players knew that we were going to stop playing momentarily.
00:33:53momentarily. It's Jordan Ayew who just caught him with a glancing blow, I think.
00:34:00David Webb, the referee, will not be able to carry on.
00:34:06A huge cheer for the arrival of our new referee as fourth official Sam Barrett comes on. I doubt
00:34:14he will ever have received that kind of rich cheer and applause from supporters from both teams.
00:34:23It's loose from Stephens, skip, sweeps it quickly into the path of El Canoos, fouled by Mateus Fernandes.
00:34:35Free kick in a dangerous position here for Leicester City.
00:34:39It all stemmed from careless ball out of defence from Southampton.
00:34:45So Jordan Ayew is ready for this.
00:34:47And strikes it beautifully, second time around. Leicester have scored twice at home.
00:34:57Well, they've not cheered like this for a long, long, long time.
00:35:02Suddenly, there's daylight between Leicester City and their opponents at the King Power.
00:35:06So, Rusk now in his second spell as interim manager at Southampton.
00:35:18Here's El Canoos lifting it in.
00:35:21Bounces it on the top of the bar.
00:35:24Bounty of flashes of brilliance from the diminutive Moroccan throughout the day.
00:35:28A little end of season feel to the contest now as the sunshine comes out.
00:35:35No great energy being shown by either set of players. It's all a bit slow.
00:35:41And Didi for skip. Two in blue to his left. This is quite fast.
00:35:45Steady progress up the pitch here for the home side.
00:35:47Thomas El Canoos. Things tend to happen when he's in possession.
00:35:51And he's going for goal and he's not far from finding the top corner.
00:35:55Beautiful effort from Bilal El Canoos.
00:35:59He's only scored three goals this season.
00:36:01Wonderful ball control here as he nutmegs Taylor Harwood-Beles, sizes up the situation.
00:36:08Just a fraction too much height on the shot.
00:36:11And if they can keep him for next season in the championship,
00:36:15he will light it up on a regular basis, that's for sure.
00:36:19El Canoos, clumsy from Harwood-Beles.
00:36:24And they've tried everything to stop Bilal El Canoos today, Southampton.
00:36:31Jamie Vardy on 199 goals for Leicester City.
00:36:39Ramsdale denies him 200 just now, Vardy then goes down.
00:36:43It looked for a moment as the referee might have been pointing towards the penalty spot,
00:36:48he's not.
00:36:49He's pointing to indicate that it's a goal kick Southampton.
00:36:57Walker-Peters, now Archer.
00:37:00Stopped by Ndidi.
00:37:01Pass forward for McAteer.
00:37:08Bit of space for El Canoos, Monger to the right, Vardy to the left,
00:37:12El Canoos goes in alone and puts it wide.
00:37:17Well, his performance overall deserves a goal.
00:37:22And there was just such a gaping hole through the centre.
00:37:26He couldn't resist the opportunity to try and put his name on the score sheet.
00:37:32Tossed in by Harwood-Beles.
00:37:34Justin missed it, Onoacchu is hovering.
00:37:37Justin forced to turn it behind for the corner.
00:37:41Still some work to do if they are to get their first clean sheet in the Premier League since
00:37:46October.
00:37:49That's his corner in by Manning.
00:37:50Onoacchu with the header.
00:37:52And it's just wide.
00:37:53Took a flick off a Leicester defender as well.
00:37:56There were a few that thought as the net rippled that that was a goal.
00:38:02This is a great feeling to go back winning ways.
00:38:05We deserve to win.
00:38:07We worked hard for it.
00:38:08We had enough of not scoring at home, of not getting a win.
00:38:13So, this feels good.
00:38:16We're lacking confidence, really.
00:38:17You know, and there's only so much you can do for confidence, really.
00:38:21So, you know, we have to keep going.
00:38:24We have to keep going today.
00:38:25And credit to Lourdes, he didn't give up in the second half, as you'd expect,
00:38:28and kept going.
00:38:28And we're hoping for that one goal out of nowhere that gets us back in it.
00:38:32And maybe they get some nerves, but it never came.
00:38:34Jamie Vardy's going to leave Leicester soon.
00:38:36He'll be sorely missed.
00:38:37I've said it before, he's Leicester's greatest ever player.
00:38:39So, we need to make sure the last couple of days are about him.
00:38:41The last couple of games are about him.
00:38:43And we give him the best chance of getting that last goal to make it to 200, yeah.
00:38:46Everything comes to an end.
00:38:47And every cycle comes to an end.
00:38:51For him, it's clear that he wants to move on,
00:38:54that he wants to close this and close this in the best way possible.
00:39:00And that's what we have to respect.
00:39:02But I think the most important thing is to look back on his career here,
00:39:06on his games, on his goals, on the trophies that he won.
00:39:09And you notice also today that the crowd start realising that it's the farewell tour of Jamie.
00:39:17And after the match, I spoke to the Leicester captain, Jamie Vardy.
00:39:21199 goals now.
00:39:24Just one more would be nice, wouldn't it, at least, going into the last two or three games.
00:39:28What's it meant for you, life at Leicester City?
00:39:31No, it's been everything.
00:39:33You saw what I put out there.
00:39:36It's been mine and my family's life for 13 years, being taken in by the fans and the whole city.
00:39:44And it's meant every single thing to me, personally.
00:39:47So hopefully, like you've just said, with those numbers, that's me repaying them.
00:39:53I just heard your manager saying, Ruud van Nistelrooy, saying that you're Leicester's greatest ever player.
00:39:58And I think a lot of fans would agree with that.
00:40:03Even you?
00:40:04I might differ.
00:40:06I thought maybe Emil Heskey.
00:40:11It's nice to be put into that bracket.
00:40:15There's been a lot of unbelievable players for this club.
00:40:19So to be mentioned like that, it's a really nice feeling.
00:40:23But still got some more games to go where hopefully there can be a few more numbers added to it.
00:40:29Let's hope so.
00:40:31Did we get a glimpse into your future?
00:40:33I saw you blowing the referee's whistle there.
00:40:36No, to be honest with you, I saw Southampton breaking down the left.
00:40:39And with the ref down, I thought, I'll blow his whistle to stop the game.
00:40:44That was a good move.
00:40:45What is next, though, for Jamie Vardy?
00:40:50I couldn't tell you at this moment in time.
00:40:53I'm just enjoying my football as much as I can at this moment.
00:40:58And I think I just need a nice, good break to mentally, especially, and then physically as well.
00:41:06Just fully refresh and then we'll see where that goes.
00:41:10Well, just from a Leicester fan, Jamie, thank you for everything.
00:41:13A Premier League title, an FA Cup win, beyond any of our dreams, really.
00:41:18You've been an absolute delight to watch over a long period.
00:41:21Thank you, Jamie, and thanks for doing this interview.
00:41:24No worries.
00:41:24Cheers, Gary.
00:41:25A Leicester legend.
00:41:28What a career.
00:41:29Much better than you were, Leicester, you're all fart.
00:41:33Thank you, Leicester.
00:41:34That might be harsh.
00:41:36There's no spring chicken yourself.
00:41:38What a career he's had, Dan.
00:41:39The best £1 million spent ever in Premier League history.
00:41:45It really is.
00:41:45I mean, what a job he's done for Leicester.
00:41:48And this sort of typifies everything great about him.
00:41:51His movement, the finish, that is a very, very difficult finish.
00:41:56On the half volley, that's coming at you at pace with a left foot.
00:42:00And to get the direction and the power behind it like that
00:42:03is just an incredible finish.
00:42:05It really is.
00:42:06Yeah, and I played with Jamie Vardy, played against him,
00:42:09and he's definitely there to be celebrated, I think,
00:42:11when moments like this come.
00:42:13Everything about him, you know, he's so streetwise,
00:42:16he's so switched on.
00:42:17It was interesting to hear his version of events there.
00:42:19We should say, David Webb, he's OK, by the way.
00:42:22Yeah, that's definitely the main thing.
00:42:24But you look at Jamie Vardy's number,
00:42:26coming into the Premier League so late.
00:42:28I'm from 30, you know, so fit, so agile,
00:42:30but I can talk to him, talk about him as a team-mate.
00:42:33And he was...
00:42:34My biggest compliment for him is he was just a menace.
00:42:37He just caused people chaos, very consistent,
00:42:39a big moment, players scored massive goals.
00:42:41Better to play with than against.
00:42:42Oh, 100%.
00:42:43100%.
00:42:44Yeah, absolutely.
00:42:46Brilliant stuff.
00:42:47Four games in match of the day, too.
00:42:51Jackson!
00:42:52The Premier League's player of the season.
00:42:54And it is beautifully played.
00:42:57Asuna!
00:42:58A brilliant finish!
00:43:00And it's in!
00:43:01Rasmus Hyland!
00:43:03Bowen delivers!
00:43:04Brendan Johnson, lovely finish!

00:43:40Everton boss David Moyes has managed 1,167 matches in his career,
00:43:46but today saw a first-ever meeting against relegated Ipswich.
00:43:50Just two games left at Goodison Park.
00:43:53Jonathan Pearce first went there in 1976.
00:43:5649 years later, he's still going strong.
00:43:59Everton run out to the Z-Cars team
00:44:04for the very last 3 o'clock Saturday kick-off at Goodison.
00:44:0948,293 days since their first 6-0 win over Preston
00:44:15in February 1893.
00:44:18I can't remember that one,
00:44:20but I can recall vividly my first visit in September 1976
00:44:24with Crystal City.
00:44:25Goals from Bob Latchford and Martin Dobson
00:44:28didn't detract from the magical effect
00:44:30this World Cup 66 grand hot on me.
00:44:33It is simply unique.
00:44:36Dwight McNeil makes his first Everton start
00:44:38since Injuring and Knee in early December.
00:44:40And Carlos Alcárez returns
00:44:42in their other chains from defeat at Chelsea.
00:44:45Ipswich bring in Amari Hutchinson
00:44:46for the first time in a month.
00:44:48And Connor Chaplin for his first start since December.
00:44:50Jack Clarke is dropped to the bench.
00:44:53Calvin Phillips and Axel Twanzaby are there with him.
00:44:5823 years since Ipswich town last played at Goodison Park.
00:45:02Walter Smith and George Burley were the respective managers
00:45:05and Ipswich won 2-1.
00:45:08McNeil, it's a good turn from him.
00:45:11And he came to Beto.
00:45:12The challenge on him was well-timed.
00:45:17Reeves just got in there at the end to do enough.
00:45:22Hamilton corner Xwich have conceded 19 set-piece goals.
00:45:27Third highest tally in the Premier League this season.
00:45:30Bypasses Beto.
00:45:31Back in the middle by Brunthwaite.
00:45:33And the eventual header by Beto.
00:45:37Easily saved by Alex Palmer.
00:45:39Comfortable save.
00:45:41And the man who's conceded five goals in his last two games.
00:45:45After losing just one of David Moyes' first ten Premier League games
00:45:48in charge since returning to the club.
00:45:49They've lost three of their last five Everton.
00:45:52He has dipped off.
00:45:53I think it's under Manchester City away at Chelsea.
00:45:57Scored in those two matches.
00:46:02Nikolenko arriving.
00:46:03Al-Qaraz follows up here now.
00:46:08Checks back to that favoured right foot.
00:46:10Beto with the header.
00:46:11Everton lead 1-0 and it's been coming.
00:46:18Beto on the score sheet.
00:46:20In the penultimate game over at Goodison Park.
00:46:2325 minutes gone, Everton won it, switch nil.
00:46:28Al-Qaraz did well here following up.
00:46:30Check back to that right foot.
00:46:32Had a look.
00:46:32Saw the run of Beto.
00:46:34Measured his cross perfect.
00:46:35Beto arriving between Ipswich's defenders.
00:46:38Who were caught ball watching.
00:46:40And they're in a familiar position now.
00:46:42Ipswich town trailing.
00:46:43Good cross.
00:46:44Good header.
00:46:45Poor defending.
00:46:461-0.
00:46:46And Ipswich have failed to keep a clean sheet in all 16 of their league fixtures this calendar year.
00:46:5242 goals.
00:46:5342 goals conceded.
00:47:00A little bit of an exchange there.
00:47:03Something and nothing.
00:47:04Dillap and O'Brien.
00:47:06Dillap and O'Brien.
00:47:09A bit daft.
00:47:13Caution apiece.
00:47:14Dillap and O'Brien.
00:47:15Dillap and O'Brien.
00:47:18Dillap and O'Brien.
00:47:19Dillap and O'Brien.
00:47:222 years older.
00:47:25School kids in the playground there.
00:47:28That goes Brantley.
00:47:31Now he's been caught.
00:47:33And Dillap was the offender.
00:47:35Moments after getting involved with the tangle.
00:47:38And this is silly.
00:47:39Having just been cautioned.
00:47:41The Everton players want him to go.
00:47:44He was looking at the ball.
00:47:46Then he turned away.
00:47:47Looked at the defender.
00:47:48Certainly caught him late.
00:47:50That was ill-advised.
00:47:53I think the referee is giving him a final ticking off here.
00:47:55He's gone.
00:47:59To Alcaraz.
00:48:02Buffeted by O'Shaan.
00:48:03He didn't like it.
00:48:07Patterson.
00:48:08Fays infield here.
00:48:10McNeil will go for goal.
00:48:12It's two.
00:48:14But he has that in his locker.
00:48:16And what a way to celebrate 100 games as an Everton player.
00:48:19Only played 28 minutes of football since his knee injury in December.
00:48:23His first start since then.
00:48:26And a terrific goal.
00:48:29And it whistled beyond Alex Palmer.
00:48:33Might have seen it late from behind his defender Cameron Burgess.
00:48:37But it veered viciously.
00:48:41Cut across the ball.
00:48:42Everton two-hooks which nil.
00:48:43And Cicero wide on the left-hand side.
00:48:55And Cicero will run Patterson.
00:48:56This is a good run from him.
00:49:00Then he had options to his right-hand side.
00:49:04But he's that sort of a player.
00:49:06Can conjure something out of nothing.
00:49:09On the other hand, when he gets into good positions, he can be so wasteful.
00:49:13It's a ground that has so many memories of so many great players.
00:49:18And there's another one.
00:49:19Graham Sharp.
00:49:21Second on the all-time list of Everton goalscorers at this ground.
00:49:25He scored 96 of his 160 goals for the Blues at this stadium.
00:49:29And back for the first time in a couple of years.
00:49:31And that is great to see.
00:49:36And Cicero.
00:49:38Gliding again.
00:49:40Goes for goal again.
00:49:41And scores a beauty.
00:49:45That is Julio in Cicero all over.
00:49:49It's a terrific strike.
00:49:52He's so single-minded the way he plays football.
00:49:55Drifts beyond his man.
00:49:57Floating on the ball.
00:49:58Shooting opportunity and bang.
00:50:01That's swerving away from Jordan Pickford.
00:50:05Looped beyond him.
00:50:07Really good goal.
00:50:13Tim Taylor again with space to look for Dilat this time.
00:50:16Liam Dilat on the left-hand side.
00:50:20Confidently done.
00:50:21Still carrying.
00:50:23In Cicero will have a go, I'm sure.
00:50:26And he looked to his right-hand side.
00:50:28Amari Hutchinson was there in space.
00:50:31But when he has his moments, he has his moments.
00:50:34And they can be devastating.
00:50:37But he can be so frustratingly inconsistent.
00:50:45O'Brien, neatly and nimbly done.
00:50:48And McNeil, his return has been crucial.
00:50:52Another dangerous cross.
00:50:53Pushed away by Palmer.
00:50:54A lovely ball in by McNeil, this was dealt with in the end by Palmer, who had to stretch his six-foot-three-inch break.
00:51:05He'll be delighted with his team today.
00:51:06Closing on a sixth win in his 17th game.
00:51:10And his second spell.
00:51:14Now, Patterson running there with Greaves.
00:51:17He's gone down holding his face.
00:51:19And that's a hefty challenge there in Mikhilenko.
00:51:30Hopefully he might revisit that.
00:51:33This is Hutchinson with the cross to the far post.
00:51:36Passes down, Ipswich have leveled.
00:51:41Everton are howling because they had a man down at the other end injured.
00:51:44Play went on.
00:51:46And that's a really great far post lead by George Hurst.
00:51:51Fine run down the right-hand side here.
00:51:54Hutchinson took on two.
00:51:57Sat it up to the far post.
00:51:59Everton defenders look at themselves.
00:52:01No one was looking at the Ipswich Town substitute.
00:52:05Good early leap.
00:52:07Hung in the air.
00:52:082-2.
00:52:09You'd have thought this was going to happen.
00:52:12The motivation bit hasn't been hard because there's so many players playing in the Premier League for the first time.
00:52:17Every appearance they can make is massive for them.
00:52:19It's special for them.
00:52:20So the motivation is high, even whether it's lone players or different things.
00:52:24They all want to do well for themselves.
00:52:25So I think you can see today and most weeks that the group is still really, really fighting for the club.
00:52:30It was an incredible atmosphere inside the stadium at the start of the game.
00:52:33And I thought the players rose to it as well.
00:52:35I thought the players were very good for the best part of 30, 40 minutes.
00:52:39I mean, the supporters will be disappointed that we didn't take all three points.
00:52:43But we are just as disappointed, let me tell you.
00:52:46In this league, we don't take chances.
00:52:47We get punished.
00:52:48And that's what happened today.
00:52:50So it's going to be a tough one to take because we want it to finish the season strong, especially at home as well.
00:52:56I mean, that's Amari to a T.
00:52:58I've seen him do that.
00:52:58I've got on the end of many of them in training.
00:53:00So as soon as he got to that byline, I said to him, you know, stand it up.
00:53:03And it was there.
00:53:05Lost it in the sun a little bit.
00:53:06But, you know, ended up in the back then.
00:53:07So I can't complain.
00:53:08Indeed.
00:53:09Indeed.
00:53:09A big summer coming up for Everton.
00:53:11New stadium, hopefully a few new players as well.
00:53:14So it's kind of a mixed performance today.
00:53:16Some good, some bad.
00:53:17Yeah, the good and the bad.
00:53:18With and without the ball, Gary.
00:53:19And they'll be really frustrated that they let a two-goal lead slip against a team that's been relegated.
00:53:24They're really well set up and this was the good in terms of their organisation, how they pressed Ipswich and forcing them into errors.
00:53:33There's that closing down there, wanting to do that so they can win the ball exactly how they did.
00:53:38And then all of a sudden, and what they did in the first 30 or 40 minutes was when they got into positions out wide, they wasted no time in trying to get the ball in.
00:53:47It didn't go in the first time, but then all of a sudden, that is a quality ball in and a really, really good header from Beto.
00:53:53So they get the lead and then the same thing again.
00:53:56Look, this is with the ball.
00:53:58So we've seen one without the ball and now with the ball, how clever they were.
00:54:01And Dye makes a really clever run there, which then creates a space for McNeil to take the touch to turn.
00:54:08And that's a fantastic shot away with loads of bend over.
00:54:11So you're 2-0 up and then all of a sudden, as I said, so we've seen the good bits.
00:54:14And now without the ball.
00:54:16Look at the space that they're allowing Ipswich to have.
00:54:19OK, it's a very well-timed tackle to get back.
00:54:22Well, that was a little bit of a warning.
00:54:24This is an amazing goal, but the concern would be how he's able to get into that space and how no-one is closing him down NCC.
00:54:31Incredible strike, absolutely, but you have to be closing him down.
00:54:34Same thing again without the ball.
00:54:35O'Shea's got acres of space to make his mind up and take that pass.
00:54:40All right, Ipswich do really well, but they work it to the byline and get the cross in and Hurst free.
00:54:46Look at the options that they've got.
00:54:47They've got that's it in the box, three or four Everton defenders, no one, anyone near them, Hurst sticks it away.
00:54:52So from 2-0 up to draw that goal game, sorry, they'll be really disappointed.
00:54:57And you said, new owners, new ground.
00:55:00Look at all those players out of contract.
00:55:01It's going to be a lot of new players.
00:55:02Seven regulars in there who are out of contract, so it's going to be a huge summer for David Moyes and for Everton.
00:55:09Yeah, and not for the first time, we saw a bit of magic from NC, so, Joe.
00:55:13Yeah, he's given us another contender for goal of the season.
00:55:17He's had that for the last three seasons.
00:55:19This is for Brighton at Chelsea.
00:55:22Two years ago.
00:55:22What a strike that is.
00:55:24Unstoppable, always rising.
00:55:26And this was a breathtaking goal at the end of the season against Manchester City.
00:55:30Right in that postage stamp.
00:55:32And the one today, just bobbling out of his feet.
00:55:34But Premier League goalkeepers have got to be aware from 30 yards now that he's hitting it.
00:55:38And the height and the trajectory of that.
00:55:40As it goes past Jordan Pickford, just watch how high the ball is.
00:55:45It's three yards over the bar, dipping perfectly.
00:55:48And that is an incredible goal.
00:55:49And look, he's definitely got some talent.
00:55:5121 years old.
00:55:52Certainly has.
00:55:53So, let's clear up the rest of the Champions League places.
00:55:56Last night's game between Manchester City and Wolves is coming up.
00:55:59But first, Nottingham Forest hopes of a top five finish took a hit on Thursday against Brentford.
00:56:04Tom Gale was watching.
00:56:13Collins.
00:56:14Finds Shardy.
00:56:17Still Shardy!
00:56:19Root one stuff from Brentford.
00:56:23But they do find the back of the nets.
00:56:26And it's Kevin Shardy.
00:56:28To stun the city grounds.
00:56:37Ilanga.
00:56:39Needs support.
00:56:40He's going to have to go alone here.
00:56:41Anthony Ilanga.
00:56:42Denied by the outstretched arm of Mark Fleckham.
00:56:49There's no other option for the Swedes.
00:56:53Heine.
00:56:54Here's a cross.
00:56:56Here's a cross.
00:56:56Which was met by Wood.
00:56:59And it's taken until the 64th minute.
00:57:05Forrest's top goal scorer to have his fierce efforts of the game.
00:57:09Fleckham.
00:57:10Fleckham's goal kick.
00:57:13Bounces.
00:57:13Wissett makes it two in a delightful manner.
00:57:20Once again, it's route one from Brentford.
00:57:24Forrest let the ball bounce.
00:57:26And they are made to play.
00:57:29Milenkovic lets it bounce.
00:57:32It skids up off the surface.
00:57:35Wissett, as he's been all seasons alive.
00:57:38And what a delicate finish.
00:57:40And so to the Etihad, your commentator, Conor McNamara.
00:57:49Manchester City have won their last three Premier League games.
00:57:53Wolves have been a revelation in recent weeks.
00:57:56Tonight looking for their seventh league win in succession.
00:58:00Pep Guardiola makes four changes from the FA Cup semi-final win over Nottingham Forest.
00:58:05But the headline-crabbing piece of news is that 15 days out from the FA Cup final,
00:58:10Erling Haaland is back on the bench.
00:58:13But as one side welcomed back a Norwegian No. 9,
00:58:17Wolves lose their Norwegian No. 9,
00:58:19Jorgen Strand-Larsen has picked up a groin injury,
00:58:22John Rickner, Bellegarde comes in as his replacement.
00:58:30Matthias Cunha.
00:58:33Unsettled by Mahmoud, but Cunha's strong,
00:58:35and that's a great ball for Bellegarde, who's onside.
00:58:39And one-on-one with Ellison, and he's unselfish,
00:58:41but maybe too unselfish.
00:58:45Munezzi couldn't stretch to get there.
00:58:48What a massive let-off for Manchester City.
00:58:52Certainly onside.
00:58:54He knew Munezzi was there.
00:58:56It would have been a tap-in.
00:58:58Had the pass been better.
00:59:00Should have been 1-0 to Wolves.
00:59:02Bellegarde, good turn.
00:59:08Andre.
00:59:10Looking to spread it out to Ait Nouri,
00:59:11it's an excellent pass.
00:59:15Matthias Cunha.
00:59:18Three defenders are out of Ait Nouri,
00:59:20it comes back off the post!
00:59:22Saved by Ellison,
00:59:23still alive for Nelson Semedo,
00:59:25until Nico O'Reilly made the block.
00:59:28And out it goes for a Wolves corner.
00:59:31There's about three chances in one there.
00:59:34Josko Gvarniol with a very important block.
00:59:38We've played 27 minutes at the Etihad,
00:59:40the best chances by far in the game
00:59:42have fallen to Wolves.
00:59:44O'Reilly!
00:59:56Looking to continue a hot streak,
00:59:58he's on at the moment.
01:00:00And he really went for power here.
01:00:03Wanting to blast it for the tight angle.
01:00:07With Erling Haaland back on the bench today,
01:00:09Manchester City supporters hoping that
01:00:11Roger won't be far behind.
01:00:14He's going to work.
01:00:21Jeremy Doku.
01:00:23Oh, he's got around Dauhde like a ghost.
01:00:25Kevin De Bruyne,
01:00:26Manchester City take the lead
01:00:28in what is likely to be
01:00:30Kevin De Bruyne's penultimate home game
01:00:33here at the Etihad.
01:00:36The Manchester City captain
01:00:38breaks the deadlock ahead of half-time.
01:00:42He may be on his way in the summer,
01:00:46but Kevin De Bruyne still producing
01:00:49the sparkling moments for City.
01:00:51Oh, he's giving the ball away.
01:01:01Joe Gomez.
01:01:04Mateus Cunha.
01:01:06The Wolves need a little bit of magic here.
01:01:09And he tries to produce it.
01:01:11Shot back off the post.
01:01:14Well, Manchester City may have the lead,
01:01:17but Wolves know when they've got
01:01:18Mateus Cunha in the team,
01:01:20there's always a chance.
01:01:22Gondola.
01:01:25Straight to eight.
01:01:27Nourie groans of disappointment
01:01:29from the Manchester City fans.
01:01:34Belagard.
01:01:35Gondola goes down,
01:01:43was he fouled in the six-yard box
01:01:45by Camardio.
01:01:47Well, the on-field
01:01:48referee's call is to play on.
01:01:52The Valle review
01:01:52is in agreement
01:01:54with the referee's decision.
01:01:57There will be no penalty for Wolves.
01:01:58Camardio.
01:02:00Doku wants to play it ahead of him.
01:02:06Lovely weight on that.
01:02:07Jeremy Doku.
01:02:10Kevin De Bruyne.
01:02:12This is Bernardo Silva.
01:02:15Mahmoush.
01:02:16Can City get the shot in?
01:02:18Mahmoush can't keep it down.
01:02:21Omar Mahmoush will be disappointed
01:02:23not to have tested the goalkeeper here.
01:02:26Mekanji.
01:02:33Mateus Nunes.
01:02:40Baralos Silva.
01:02:42Good balance.
01:02:43Kovacic.
01:02:44Little room to shoot
01:02:45with Sarabia leaning into it.
01:02:48Actually, they've had plenty of chances
01:02:49of that sort of standard in the game.
01:02:51Half chances, really.
01:02:53Very few clear-cut opportunities
01:02:55from Pep Guardiola's team.
01:02:58It's a good ball.
01:03:00Eight to Nuri.
01:03:02Runs into Bernardo Silva,
01:03:04who's been hurt.
01:03:07Video assistant referee,
01:03:09Paul Tierney,
01:03:10assisted by Steve Meredith.
01:03:11They're having a look at this.
01:03:13Eye, Nuri stretching.
01:03:15And look where he catches
01:03:15Bernardo Silva.
01:03:17There.
01:03:17Ooh.
01:03:18The more replays you see,
01:03:19the worse that looks.
01:03:22The decision is no further
01:03:24action for Ionite Nuri.
01:03:29Sarabia.
01:03:32Guernes to Antrico Gomez.
01:03:34Back towards Gonzalo Guernes.
01:03:37Oh, just for a motor there,
01:03:39that had danger written all over it
01:03:40until Bernardo Silva was able
01:03:42to hook it clear.
01:03:43Is that to be Wolves' last chance?
01:03:48He took Pareda's team
01:03:49aren't giving up.
01:03:50This is a good pullback
01:03:51from Gonzalo Guernes,
01:03:53but no Wolves player
01:03:55on the end of it.
01:03:57It's his last chance territory
01:03:59now for the visitors.
01:04:00Sarabia.
01:04:07Gonzalo Guernes.
01:04:10Wang.
01:04:11Trying to take on Ikanji,
01:04:13and there will be time
01:04:14for the Wolves' corner.
01:04:15And even Jose Saz
01:04:18coming forward.
01:04:21Sarabia to take.
01:04:22All hands on deck
01:04:23defending for City.
01:04:26Jose Saz
01:04:26headless close to that.
01:04:28As the whistle blows
01:04:29and the game ends.
01:04:31And who knows
01:04:32what could be
01:04:34Kevin De Bruyne's
01:04:35final ever Etihad goal
01:04:37settles this one.
01:04:39Manchester City won.
01:04:40Wolves nil.
01:04:41The first 20 minutes
01:04:43they were much,
01:04:44much better than us
01:04:45and they had the chances.
01:04:46We were fortunate.
01:04:48So we had our day
01:04:50not a good day,
01:04:51a bad day.
01:04:53We were not
01:04:55what we want to be,
01:04:56but at the same time
01:04:57we know we're playing for
01:04:58resilience,
01:04:59especially O'Havo.
01:05:00We make a step up.
01:05:01We're a little bit better.
01:05:03But yeah,
01:05:03it's where it is.
01:05:05I want a team
01:05:06with courage.
01:05:07I want a team
01:05:08that doesn't have fear.
01:05:10I want a team
01:05:12to play
01:05:12eyes on eyes
01:05:13with every team
01:05:15in this league.
01:05:16And I think
01:05:17we show everything.
01:05:20In the end
01:05:20the result
01:05:21is not
01:05:21the result
01:05:24that we expect.
01:05:26But believe me,
01:05:28I'm very happy
01:05:29and proud.
01:05:31You set up
01:05:32the winning goal
01:05:32for Kevin De Bruyne.
01:05:34He's got one more
01:05:34home game here,
01:05:35but moments like that
01:05:36are so special
01:05:37for City fans
01:05:38and he just keeps
01:05:39producing.
01:05:39It shows he still can.
01:05:41Obviously,
01:05:41I don't think
01:05:42there was any doubt
01:05:43about him
01:05:43still capable
01:05:45of doing those
01:05:46types of things.
01:05:47I think today also
01:05:47he proved again
01:05:49and he showed again
01:05:49that he's still
01:05:51the Kevin De Bruyne
01:05:51and still has a quality
01:05:52to be important
01:05:53for this team.
01:05:54So there is no doubt
01:05:56about that
01:05:56and I'm happy for him
01:05:57that he scored today.
01:05:58So yeah.
01:05:58We cannot relax
01:05:59because it's not
01:06:00the certainty
01:06:00that we are going
01:06:01to Southampton,
01:06:03Bournemouth
01:06:03and Fulham.
01:06:04So yeah.
01:06:06We are,
01:06:07I think winning
01:06:08in that way
01:06:09is good
01:06:09because it will
01:06:10make us realise
01:06:10that still
01:06:11we have to work.
01:06:13It was Kevin De Bruyne
01:06:14that got the goal
01:06:15but it was another
01:06:16of City's old guard
01:06:17that impressed you,
01:06:18Joe.
01:06:19A 400th appearance
01:06:20for Bartonardo Silva
01:06:21and he ran the show a bit.
01:06:23Yeah, he did.
01:06:24Incredible numbers.
01:06:26You know,
01:06:26he's a great talent.
01:06:27He's come in
01:06:27and he's won everything
01:06:28at Manchester City
01:06:29but his tenacity
01:06:30that he still shows
01:06:31look Manchester City
01:06:32are not their fluent best.
01:06:34This is shown
01:06:34in this example here
01:06:36with the ball
01:06:37being received
01:06:38by O'Reilly
01:06:38getting a bit messy
01:06:39but Bernardo Silva
01:06:40switched on
01:06:41early on in the game
01:06:42not giving up
01:06:43his position.
01:06:44A bit more deep
01:06:44lying tonight
01:06:45getting on the half turn
01:06:48Wolves not pressing him
01:06:49knows when he's
01:06:50not being pressed
01:06:51and he's got time
01:06:51he can be dangerous
01:06:52spraying it out
01:06:53to Doku
01:06:54to allow him
01:06:54to attack
01:06:55one more time.
01:06:57Here this is important
01:06:58for the goal
01:06:59turning it over
01:07:00those kind of tenacious
01:07:01battles in the centre
01:07:02of midfield
01:07:02that he's not necessarily
01:07:03renowned for
01:07:04but it's so important
01:07:04when it comes to it.
01:07:06Obviously this is the man
01:07:07of the moment
01:07:07for all sorts of
01:07:09different reasons
01:07:10showing his quality
01:07:10and a clutch goal
01:07:12for Manchester City
01:07:13but Bernardo Silva
01:07:14for all of his hard work.
01:07:15Look, don't get away
01:07:16from this when they
01:07:17signed him for Monaco
01:07:18he's a top class player
01:07:19so much ability
01:07:20no panic
01:07:21ready to move forward
01:07:23excellent with the ball
01:07:25great usage
01:07:26and this is right
01:07:26at the end of the game
01:07:27City are in a battle
01:07:28no two ways about it
01:07:29you need your
01:07:30experienced players
01:07:31Edison appreciates it
01:07:32he's there helping them
01:07:33get over the line
01:07:34the big 1-0 win.
01:07:36Their numbers are
01:07:36pretty impressive
01:07:37aren't they?
01:07:38I get the feeling
01:07:40Kevin De Bruyne
01:07:40is not entirely happy
01:07:41about leaving
01:07:42and he's still got
01:07:43something to offer
01:07:43hasn't he?
01:07:44Oh there's no doubt
01:07:44he's got something
01:07:45I get that
01:07:46I still think
01:07:49he would do a brilliant
01:07:49job for someone
01:07:50in top six
01:07:51and I get his
01:07:52disappointment
01:07:52even if it was just
01:07:53another 12 month contract
01:07:55Do you feel it Joe?
01:07:56Yeah 100%
01:07:57Kevin's very
01:07:58he's always been
01:07:59very honest through
01:07:59his career
01:07:59and knowing him
01:08:00from playing with him
01:08:01he's made it clear
01:08:02he wasn't ready to stop
01:08:03but the club
01:08:04made that decision
01:08:04Thanks Joe
01:08:05Alan
01:08:05very much indeed
01:08:07before we go
01:08:08let's have a look
01:08:08at the Premier League
01:08:09table
01:08:09Manchester City
01:08:11climb to third
01:08:12and are now
01:08:12within three points
01:08:14of Arsenal
01:08:14Aston Villa
01:08:15remain seventh
01:08:16but more level
01:08:16on points
01:08:17with Nottingham
01:08:18Forest and Chelsea
01:08:19while Bournemouth
01:08:20rise to eighth
01:08:21nothing but pride
01:08:22at stake
01:08:23for the three
01:08:23relegated clubs
01:08:24but Leicester's win
01:08:25means Southampton
01:08:26are assured
01:08:27of ending bottom
01:08:28Ipswich's draw
01:08:29meanwhile
01:08:29was the first time
01:08:30since November
01:08:31they have voided
01:08:32defeat
01:08:32after falling behind
01:08:33so Leicester win
01:08:35at home
01:08:35I was starting
01:08:36to think
01:08:36I might never
01:08:37get to say
01:08:37that to you
01:08:38again
01:08:38goodbye
01:08:39so Leicester
