Transcript
00:00Hello, it's Graeme Bean from the Scotsman at Hive Stadium where Edinburgh have just lost 39-24 to Bath in the semi-finals of the EPCR Challenge Cup.
00:12It was a tough game, a little closer than the scoreline suggests, Edinburgh were three points behind with five minutes to go,
00:21but Bath ultimately proved too strong, too late tries to pull away and win and book their place in the final where they will meet either Lyon or Racing 92.
00:32It was Edinburgh's first European semi-final in 10 years and there was a record crowd at the high of almost 8,000.
00:40Unfortunately, most of them went away disappointed, but they saw a great game.
00:45Edinburgh lost Harry Patterson early on after he failed a head injury assessment, he was replaced by Mazzesi Tupolotu.
00:54Bath took the lead after nine minutes through Sam Underhill, the man of the match, which Finn Russell converted to put them 7-0 up.
01:02Will Muir was then yellow carded for kicking the ball out of the Edinburgh centre, Matt Currie's hands.
01:08And Edinburgh took advantage, Tupolotu scoring after great play by Currie, who took a quick line out and played his centre partner in for the try.
01:20Ross Thompson's conversion made it 7-0, but Bath moved ahead through a try from Tom Dunne, their hooker.
01:27That made it 12-7. Ross Thompson's penalty reduced the margin to 10-12 before half-time.
01:35And Edinburgh took the lead for the first time in the match at the start of the second half.
01:40It was a penalty try, awarded after Tom DeGlanville intercepted and knocked the ball deliberately on, with Edinburgh looking like they were going to score.
01:51DeGlanville was yellow carded for his troubles and that made the score 17-12 to Edinburgh.
01:58Edinburgh then had Sam Skinner sent to Sinbin for persistent infringing and Bath kind of capitalised on that.
02:05They went on to score 15 unanswered points to go 27-17 ahead, with tries from Dunne in the second of the match and from Alfie Barbieri and a Finn Russell penalty.
02:17Edinburgh, one last fling. Ali Price scored a very good try.
02:21Had a good work by Thompson and Bowen Venter.
02:26That was converted by Thompson which brought them back within three points, but Bath proved too strong in the end.
02:33They scored two tries in the last five minutes through Niall Annett and Guy Pepper.
02:38Final score again from Hive Stadium, Edinburgh 24, Bath 39.
