New Delhi, May 03 (ANI): Angola’s President began his first state visit to India in 38 years with a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 02. Both nations discussed strengthening ties, with Angola condemning the Pahalgam terror attack and also expressed solidarity with India.Speaking on the State visit of President of Angola to India,Secretary (Economic Relations), Dammu Ravi says, "Angola President is on a state visit. Today, he was accorded ceremonial welcome in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan. This is the first time that a visit on both sides is taking place after 38 years. Angola holds the chairmanship of the African Union, which is a very important area for us in the context of the India-Africa partnership. The delegation between the two sides covered a wide gamut of the relationship. During the meeting, President Lourenco condemned the heinous terrorist act in Pahalgam, in Jammu and Kashmir, and there was condemnation of it, expressed solidarity with India in tackling terrorism in all its forms, including cross-border terrorism."

00:00President of Angola, Mr. Giavo Manuel Gonzalez-Lorenzo, is on a state visit, which started yesterday and it will close tomorrow.
00:12Today, he was accorded ceremonial welcome in the forecourt of Rashapati Bhavan by Honorable Rashapati Ji.
00:23Thereafter, there was a call on by Honorable External Affairs Minister on the President of Angola, and there were delegation-level talks held by Honorable Prime Minister at Hyderabad House, during which the various aspects of the bilateral relations have been covered.
00:44And today, later in the evening, there will be a banquet by Honorable Rashapati Ji.
00:50Let me also put the importance of the visit.
00:54Now, this is the first time that a VVIP visit on both sides is taking place after 38 years.
01:01And this is the first visit of President Lorenzo to India since he assumed office in 2017.
01:08And it also marks two important events.
01:15One is the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Angola.
01:22And the second is it marks the 50th anniversary of the independence of Angola this year.
01:28As you all know that Angola is holding the chairship of the African Union, which is a very important area for us, too, in the context of India-Africa partnership.
01:44So we are seeking their support in deepening our relationship with Africa.
01:50And the delegation-level talks between the two leaders covered a wide gamut of relationship, covering the – making an assessment of the existing relationship, as well as the futuristic scenario in terms of new areas of cooperation.
02:08During the press briefing, there was a very strong message.
02:16And also during the delegation-level talks, President Lorenzo condemned the Hina's Cowardly Act, Terrorist Act, in Felgum, in Jemu and Kashmir.
02:31And there was condemnation of it, expressed condolences to the bereaved families, and solidarity with India in tackling terrorism in all its forms, including the cross-border terrorism.
