00:08This amendment is simple and straightforward. It simply requires the
00:12Inspector General to issue a report within six months
00:16auditing DOGE employees and their role in the
00:20Department of Education's decision-making and layoffs.
00:24DOGE and Elon Musk have already laid off half of the Department of Education
00:28staff, which is jeopardizing the education funding, the civil
00:32rights, and the financial aid of students throughout the country. Congress
00:36and the public still do not have information on which staff were fired, what
00:40their responsibilities were, or the Department's plan to ensure programs
00:44still function. We have a responsibility to receive this information. I urge
00:48my colleagues to vote yes on this amendment. We're closely following what DOGE is doing.
00:52This markup is about protecting students on college campuses and has nothing
