00:00The postseason does not continue for the Milwaukee Bucks. A horrendous loss to close things out.
00:05This was a couple days ago, but we haven't had a chance to talk about it since.
00:08Just inexcusable. Up 118-111 with 40 seconds to go in overtime.
00:15And the Bucks lose.
00:19Unimaginable to have that happen.
00:21And you feel awful for Gary Trent Jr., who was the reason that game got to overtime.
00:25He was on fire. And the reason they were up, they gave up the first basket of OT, I believe it was,
00:31and then didn't give up another one for a bit because Trent Jr. is just three ball, three ball, three ball, bang,
00:38and just rolling right through them.
00:41But then, rolling right through them is not intentional, but quite the phrase for it,
00:46because he takes the pass, and it just right through the wickets.
00:50And out of bounds it goes, and it gives Indy life, and they don't give it up.
00:54And credit the Pacers for taking advantage, credit that home court for getting them into it,
00:58but that is multiple turnovers in those spots for what is supposed to be a veteran team.
01:06And I get, like, Gary Trent Jr. is not the, well, how could he possibly have, right?
01:11Like, he is the role guy.
01:12And it's, like, AJ Green wasn't there before.
01:15But this is still, like, this is Giannis, this is Lopez, this is Prince.
01:18This is those guys who have been in some high-level spots before.
01:23This is not supposed to happen to this team.
01:26And it did.
01:27And that is a very big concern.
01:30So, again, look, this is not going to quiet the where is Giannis going to go thing.
01:34Because, like, this was an inexcusable way to end the season.
01:38And one that really makes you, given how the Lillard injury goes down, he's out for a while now.
01:45And now how is someone his age, his size, going to respond to that is going to be obviously very key,
01:51but also not something I would just be banking on at this point.
01:54And Giannis, he has his championship.
01:56He likes it in Milwaukee.
01:57But is it time to move on into something else?
02:00Because he was spectacular.
02:02All series long, he was great.
02:04And it just, it feels like a waste to have him out in five games and to have him out in these ones.
02:09The one thing that would maybe give you a little bit of, like, oh, okay.
02:13And maybe not, I mean, look, it's, he still might want out.
02:16But the thing with Hal Burton's dad after, where Hal Burton's dad's getting right in his face.
02:21Last two years, we've talked about the press conferences with Giannis.
02:24And it's like, what is a failure?
02:25I don't consider, basketball, there is no failures.
02:27And those sorts of things, right?
02:29And, like, if I'm a Bucs fan, it's like, hey, man, thanks for the title.
02:31But what the fuck are you talking about?
02:32Like, we kind of, we're supposed to be a championship team around the first round.
02:36Like, that feels like a failure to me.
02:38This was not that press conference.
02:39This was like, what?
02:40I've won titles.
02:40He hasn't.
02:41What is he talking about?
02:42And so there was a little bit of, like, a, oh, this guy, like, this guy this season has remembered how good he is.
02:48And so I don't know if there needs to be something else.
02:50But, well, if he's going to stay in Milwaukee, it has to look a lot different around him this upcoming season.
02:56Like, I think you have to, and again, not to fall into the traps that we talked about before, where star players and teams with them tend to fuck it up because they just get desperate.
03:07But you have to surround this guy with more talent than you have right now.
03:13And that is even if Lillard comes back at the peak of his powers.
03:16It still wasn't enough with him.
03:18This is a poorly constructed basketball team.
03:21And you cannot have that when that guy is still in his prime.
03:24On the Pacer side of it, like, just some credit to them.
03:27They put a ton of pressure on Milwaukee and forced a lot of those, or forced all of those turnovers.
03:33And put them in a spot where they were able to battle back and win the game.
03:36Um, Halliburton has been quiet in these games and then kind of picked his spots.
03:40And he came up huge.
03:42He was really good.
03:43You could tell he was embracing the limelight with this and kind of embracing this whole thing.
03:48And kind of playing into his WWE fandom a little bit with some of that.
03:52But he, he really found it in this series again.
03:56And that makes this team very dangerous.
03:58And I, again, it is kind of similar to Minnesota.
04:02These guys might not make it as far as they did a season ago.
04:05Because the bracket kind of broke their way.
04:07And it's a tough matchup against Cleveland here in the next round.
04:10But this is a better basketball team than the one that played a season ago.
04:14And one that I think can now sustainably put on a run.
04:17I didn't think that from Indiana going into this year.
04:20That they could really be a team that could sustain it.
04:22Because it was just, it was all offense, right?
04:23And eventually that gets shut down.
04:26And you just run into better basketball teams.
04:28But now, with how well they play defensively.
04:31And just the effort that they have out there.
04:33They are not, like, this isn't the Pacers.
04:35First Pistons from the Reggie Miller era.
04:37And the Brawls and all of that.
04:39But this is still a fine defensive team.
04:41That at least can make you work.
04:43And it's not just bucket, bucket, bucket, bucket.
04:46Who's going to miss first?
04:47It's not that.
04:48This team defends really hard.
04:50And pretty well.
04:51And they also have now, I think, a little bit more going on on offense.
04:56Halliburton is great.
04:58Turner, you know what he is at this point.
05:00He is a stretch five.
05:01That can be just an absolute backbreaker.
05:03But they figured out how to work Siakam into this offense.
05:05And then the big one is the step that Nembhard has taken this year.
05:09He, there are times he has, like, we talk about irrational confidence.
05:13I don't know how irrational it is with him.
05:15But there are some times he's like, no, I'm the best player on the floor right now.
05:17I'm just going to do that.
05:18I'm going to be the best player on the floor.
05:19And he has that.
05:21And he just executes all the time.
05:22And so when he is scoring at that level, and you have all those guys you need to worry about,
05:27this becomes a very difficult team to deal with.
05:29And then they defend very well.
05:31And again, it is not a picture-perfect whatever.
05:35But they force a lot of steals.
05:37And it just, it gets their offense into a rhythm.
05:39And it gets them into being a very, very dangerous team.
05:42So I don't know if they can hang with the Cleveland Cavaliers in that series.
05:46But I think they can hang with them a whole lot better than they would have a season ago.
