00:00Well, the key thing is that it's a remarkable experience that very few people get.
00:04What was the first thing that went through your mind as the rocket took off?
00:07As the rocket took off, I was actually thinking about a colleague of mine who I'm lucky enough to call a mentee.
00:14When I was working at NASA, I had the privilege of meeting a 13-year-old girl named Claire.
00:19And Claire approached me at an aviation museum day.
00:22So, like, we used to go out and speak in the community with astronaut ice cream, and we'd take what we were doing at work and share it with kids.
00:30And she comes up to me and she says, I want to be an aerospace engineer.
00:35And I said, okay, well, let me give you my card.
00:38Well, this 13-year-old girl, she emailed me.
00:41Like, she literally sent me an email.
00:43I give my card to adults all the time, and they don't even email me, right?
00:47And so I decided to invite her in to follow me at work.
00:52And so 13 became 16.
00:55She's now one of my mentees.
00:58And from that relationship, she ended up deciding that she was going to pursue aerospace engineering.
01:03She studied at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
01:06And you'll never believe this.
01:07She worked on the very same rocket engine I was flying on.
01:11And so when I sat down that day, it was more than just me achieving my goal of going to space.
01:17I actually had the opportunity to fly on a rocket engine that I watched someone who I've mentored since she was 13 help create.
01:27And so I sat down that night.
01:28So I watched after the pandemic, and I was sort of like, it was like, of compute becoming very much.
01:30And so when you came to tech, I thought, is because I have experimented in.
01:32Actually, I thought, can watch on my computer, okay, hey?
01:32I thought, is that what I wanted to do today?
01:34Okay.
01:35So target, I think I did a bit of work.
01:37And so I thought, I thought it was a battle啊.
01:39And so I thought this was really important for me, because I was really important and NSW.
01:41So I thought, wow, I don't know.
