00:00A Brit and an American swap countries to try each other's Pizza Hut.
00:03This is Food Wars for an Exchange.
00:09We'll start with a classic crust cheese pizza.
00:11This is a U.S. large.
00:12Visually, there's a few differences with the U.K. one, actually.
00:14I think the classic crust in the U.K. is actually more the pan crust.
00:19I'm liking the little bits of cheese that are kind of on the crust
00:22and are baked in a little bit there.
00:24In terms of the size, I actually don't think this is, like, ridiculously large.
00:27This looks maybe slightly bigger than a U.K. large might be.
00:30This pizza is also cut into eight slices.
00:32Here is the U.K. large classic cheese pizza, or as the Brits call it, a margarita.
00:37I would say this looks more like a U.S. medium.
00:40I've also noticed that this was cut into ten slices, where ours is probably eight.
00:45You guys have smaller slices and smaller pizzas.
00:50It's good. It's just a very standard cheese pizza.
00:52Like, when your brain kind of pictures what a cheese pizza should taste like,
00:55this is kind of it.
00:56Quite a thick layer of cheese.
00:58Quite like a little airy dough, but got like a satisfying chew to it.
01:02I like the sauce, actually. It's quite sweet.
01:04Smells all right.
01:05Has this dustiness on the crust. Does anyone know what this is?
01:10Pretty close to the American.
01:11The American definitely has a lot more flavor to it.
01:14I would say a stronger sauce flavor.
01:17This just tastes like cheese and bread, and it's not tasting the sauce at all.
01:20And let's see what's on the end here.
01:22That's good.
01:23I eat the crusts because I'm an adult, but I know some people don't for whatever reason.
01:31Here's everything at Pizza Hut in the U.K. I can't get in the U.S.
01:34And here is everything you'll find at Pizza Hut in the U.S. that we don't have in the U.K.
01:37Before we get into the preset pizzas, let's take a look at the exclusive customizable options on offer in the U.K.
01:44When it comes to the crust, the U.K. exclusive is a Cheesy Bites crust.
01:47And look at this thing.
01:48Yeah, this thing looks like a nightmare.
01:51Starting with the crust, the Cheesy Bites crust.
01:54Now, I'm not quite sure why this didn't take off in the U.S.
01:56We love hiding cheese in bread in pizza, so that actually doesn't really bother me that much.
02:03It's everything in the middle here.
02:04Exclusive toppings.
02:05We have vegan cheese, spicy pork, green chilies, the U.S.'s mixed peppers, red onion, sweet corn, and sun-blushed tomatoes.
02:14And we've combined all that into one pizza.
02:17That's absolutely horrifying.
02:19This is what I assume was floating in the sky that made everyone in the movie Bird Box go crazy.
02:30Isn't that very gollopy?
02:31Not that exciting.
02:33Not that flavorful.
02:34In the normal pizza consumption already, everyone take a look at this.
02:37So I'm like, oh, I totally ordered this on purpose.
02:39I think I'll get a slice while I'm hanging with people.
02:42I got to cut a knot in half to get it off.
02:45This other knot wasn't cut all the way through, so I lost knottage.
02:48Taking this off.
02:49And now, how the hell am I holding this?
02:54I think the thing that's throwing me off is the vegan cheese.
02:57It's not that it's bad.
02:59It's just like, I'm not tasting any cheese on this.
03:01Oh, yeah, it's actually spicy.
03:03I like the green chilies.
03:05So it looks more intimidating and awful than it really is.
03:08Your spicy pork tastes a lot like American sausage.
03:11More than your sausage.
03:12Yeah, that's the most flavorful sausage I've had since I've gotten to this island.
03:15It's on a Pizza Hut pizza.
03:21Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't eat any more of this, and I'm not going to.
03:25There's one exclusive crust option in the U.S., and it's this one, the Thin and Crispy.
03:28It does look pretty crispy around the outside.
03:30Neither country has an exclusive sauce base, but if you order a big New Yorker crust in the U.S.,
03:34then it does come with a slightly sweeter marinara sauce.
03:36Then they have a bunch of exclusive toppings in the U.S. that we can't get in the U.K.
03:40These include a crispy cupped pepperoni, Italian sausage, meatballs, black olives, banana peppers, and white onions.
03:48We have red in the U.K.
03:49And, of course, we combined all the exclusives except the pepperoni onto one pizza, the U.S. only.
03:54Not thrilled about the meatballs.
03:55Meatballs on pizza seems to be like a weirdly American fast food thing,
03:59and I just don't think the meatballs hold up well when they're kind of being baked onto a pizza.
04:04I will say, like, just looking at this one, it doesn't look quite so egregious compared to other U.S. only things that I've tried,
04:10so we'll give it a go.
04:12Most of this actually kind of worked.
04:14I'm still not a huge fan of the meatballs.
04:16I think they just end up being quite dry when you bake them on a pizza.
04:19But the Italian sauce is just pretty good.
04:20I like black olives.
04:22Banana peppers are actually kind of growing on me.
04:24I know Joe kind of gets fed up of, like, seeing them on U.S. fast food things,
04:27but I think they're kind of good.
04:28Then we're onto the exclusive preset pizza options.
04:31Surprisingly, there aren't that many preset options in the U.S.
04:34I think maybe there's just more emphasis on building your own.
04:36We'll start with this one, which is the hot honey double pepperoni pizza.
04:40That sounds really good.
04:41I want to see if it tastes good.
04:42This also has that other exclusive topping, that cupped pepperoni.
04:45It's not something that you see super often in the U.K., this type of pepperoni.
04:48It's like a slightly thinner sausage cut into really thin strips
04:51so that when you cook it, it kind of curls up
04:54and then kind of forms these, like, little cups.
04:56It's double pepperoni because you have the cups,
04:59but then you also just have regular pepperoni slices as well.
05:03There's definitely some heat to it.
05:04I think some of it is just from the pepperoni.
05:06Maybe the honey as well.
05:07It has a little bit of chili mixed in.
05:09I love these little pepperoni cups.
05:10They're, like, a little bit crispy around the outside.
05:12This one's also, I think, by default given to you on the pan crust,
05:16which I really like.
05:17Pizza in the U.K. has a lot of its own pre-set pizzas.
05:20I think that most of them look ridiculous.
05:22This one is the mushroom and sweet corn.
05:25Yeah.
05:26This terrifying thing over here is the mac and cheese pizza.
05:30Let's start with the mac and cheese.
05:31I have had mac and cheese pizza before.
05:33Not.
05:33This, to my knowledge, is the only, like, international chain
05:37that's done mac and cheese pizza.
05:38Usually, this is something you see at, like, a standalone pizzeria
05:41that wants to have, like, fun toppings.
05:42Oh, this one, they even gave us the cheesy crust.
05:44Did you know that?
05:45They were going to give it...
05:46I kind of like that.
05:49I don't know what cheese is on here.
05:51If you can see, yeah, the cheese is baked on.
05:53There's also, like, this, like, there's cheese inside the pasta.
05:56The noodles don't have, like, a real defined flavor,
05:59so I think it would taste cheesier if smaller, more smaller noodles.
06:03That's my note.
06:04But overall, I thought this was going to be, like,
06:07like, too rich or too, like, but actually balanced nicely.
06:11Next up, we have the meat lovers pizza.
06:13I'm pretty sure in the U.K. we have, like, meat feast
06:15or meaty one pizza options,
06:17which are kind of our version of this.
06:19It's different to our ones as well
06:20because it's got that Italian sausage.
06:21There's also some pepperoni, some bacon, and some ham.
06:25It's a meaty boy.
06:26I get a little bit of all of the meats in one bite.
06:29As far as meat pizzas go, it's pretty standard.
06:31I don't think the Italian sausage adds a ton
06:33compared to, like, the U.K. Meat Feast, for example.
06:36It's just kind of fine.
06:37So I'm going to just point out that, like,
06:40this one is different from this one,
06:41which is different from this one.
06:43This is the meaty one.
06:44This is the barbecue meat feast.
06:46And this one right here is the meat feast, probably.
06:49The ham and mushroom, it's like,
06:51it's just like a thing to get, like, two toppings.
06:54It's like no effort.
06:56Same with the mushroom and...
06:57But you guys are, like, really trying to offload mushrooms.
07:00I think if it's going to have a name,
07:02if it's going to be the whatever,
07:03bare minimum, three things.
07:06Three toppings.
07:07Meat Feast.
07:09All right, next.
07:10The barbecue meat feast,
07:12which I'm assuming has barbecue sauce on it.
07:15I think you think American barbecue sauce is very sweet,
07:18because I'm expecting this to be a lot sweeter.
07:21Tastes exactly the same.
07:23I think they gave us two of the meat feast.
07:24The meaty one.
07:25This is this with, and possibly this, with chicken.
07:30Okay.
07:31This one's somehow flavorless.
07:33So unless I got COVID 12 seconds ago,
07:35I can't taste anything on here.
07:36Such little flavor on the chicken,
07:38I wouldn't get any of these.
07:40If I had to.
07:42We also forgot the Texan barbecue,
07:44which is a barbecue sauce chicken and bacon pizza.
07:47Next up is the backyard barbecue chicken pizza.
07:50So this one has the barbecue sauce base option.
07:53There's also some bacon on there,
07:54some chicken, and some white onion.
07:56I'm just not a huge fan of barbecue sauce bases on pizza.
07:59I feel like the people who love it really love it,
08:01and the people who don't, don't.
08:03It's quite divisive.
08:05That's actually really not bad.
08:07As someone who, like I say,
08:08doesn't really love barbecue sauce as a base on a pizza,
08:11they've actually been, I'd say, quite restrained
08:13with the amount of barbecue sauce that they've used.
08:15It's not overpowering.
08:16It's not too sweet.
08:17Next up is this buffalo chicken pizza.
08:19Buffalo chicken pizzas seem to be a thing in America,
08:21whereas they are very much not a thing in the UK.
08:23I'm just not convinced of its merits
08:25as a base for a pizza.
08:28That's just really not for me.
08:29That's kind of bad.
08:30That's like a tiny bit of sweetness in there,
08:32but like not nearly enough to balance that out.
08:34And the chicken's just kind of there.
08:36That's, yeah.
08:37That's a whiff for me, I'm afraid.
08:39That's a big womp womp.
08:41And then the final option today
08:42is the Hawaiian chicken pizza.
08:44As the name suggests, it's Hawaiian,
08:45so it's got the pineapple and the ham.
08:47But then there's also some chicken and some green peppers on here.
08:49Hawaiian pizza is kind of growing on me.
08:51For some reason, my palate seems to be changing as I get older,
08:54or maybe it's just been completely destroyed
08:55by like four years of food wars.
08:57But yeah, I'm no longer like as much of a pineapple on pizza hater
09:00as I once was.
09:02Let's give it a go.
09:04That's really not too bad.
09:05I think the one thing that I'm a bit confused
09:07as to why they've included it is the green pepper,
09:09because for me that doesn't really work.
09:10The pineapple's fine.
09:12I think my mouth was also crying out for some sweetness
09:14after the abomination that was the buffalo chicken pizza.
09:16Then we have some sizzler pizzas,
09:18which are topped with green chilies,
09:19roquito peppers, jalapenos, and red onions,
09:22plus the toppings of your choosing.
09:23We got the Hawaiian sizzler and the veggie sizzler.
09:26There's also a beef sizzler and a chicken sizzler.
09:29Sizzler.
09:30I'm saying sizzler a lot.
09:31They're really generous with the peppers here,
09:32hence the sizzling aspect of it.
09:34As suspected, the green chilies and the jalapenos
09:37are doing all the sizzling.
09:39Look, I love spicy food.
09:41I do take issue with stuff like this,
09:45where they go, we have this thing.
09:47We have a spicy version.
09:49You're like, I'll take the spicy version.
09:50They're like, we just put peppers on it.
09:52Like, doesn't seem very considered.
09:54I defend Hawaiian pizza.
09:56I don't like food police telling me
09:58what can and can't go on a pizza.
10:00I get Hawaiian pizza regularly.
10:02I like pineapple on pizza.
10:03Okay, Italy, chill out.
10:05But I can't imagine Hawaiian and jalapeno
10:08going well together.
10:09So, here's how this could work.
10:13They need less jalapenos and green chilies on this
10:16and more pineapple.
10:17Like, if it was more considered
10:18instead of just throwing jalapenos and spicy peppers
10:21on an already pre-existing pizza,
10:24if it actually took the time for the balance,
10:25this could be killer.
10:27Good idea.
10:28Balance doesn't work.
10:30And we've got the veggie one.
10:31I mean, I don't take a bite,
10:33but I know what this is going to taste like.
10:35They just renamed that the jalapeno and onion pizza.
10:38I like those things, but just that and a pizza.
10:41Now, the U.S. has supreme pizza
10:43and a super supreme pizza,
10:45but in the U.K., they have a chicken supreme pizza
10:47and also a vegetable supreme pizza,
10:49which we did not get.
10:51So, I'm under the impression that supreme
10:52just means onions, peppers, and mushrooms.
10:54That makes it like supreme.
10:55All right.
10:56So, this is chicken, peppers, onions, mushrooms.
10:59It lacks flavor.
11:03It lacks, like, excitement.
11:04There's actually several vegan options in the U.K.
11:07The cheese they use is Violife branded
11:10with some Beyond Meat plant-based protein options.
11:13Now, what you can get on the menu in the U.K.
11:15is the vegan margarita,
11:17the vegan vegetarian sizzler,
11:19the vegan vegetarian supreme,
11:21the vegan Beyond Italian-style sausage supreme,
11:24and the Beyond Italian-style sausage supreme.
11:28You know those weird, like, simulator games
11:31where it's like Pizza Chef Simulator
11:34was, like, really hard to make the stuff?
11:35This looks like a pizza
11:36that would be in one of those games
11:38when it comes out.
11:39It looks cartoonish.
11:41Like, the closer they make this stuff,
11:42they try to make this stuff
11:43look like the real thing,
11:44like, the less it does.
11:46This is Uncanny Valley pizza.
11:51Completely flavorless.
11:52Here's why they screwed up.
11:54Pizza, one of the two reasons
11:55a pizza with, like, sausage on it tastes good
11:57is the cheese and the sausage.
11:59When we replace that with the fake stuff,
12:01it has nothing to stand on.
12:02If they want to continue doing this,
12:04they should have,
12:05I'm about to blow everybody at Pizza Hut's mind,
12:07seasoned it.
12:08They got loaded pizzas here in the U.K.
12:10I'm told that the cheeses are
12:11mozzarella red lesher?

13:10to, like, help your stomach adjust.

13:14if I was eating one of these,

13:18US Peterhut has a lot
13:19of exclusive wing options.
13:21I've got four in front of me today
13:22to try,
13:23and we'll start with this one,
13:23which is hot honey.
13:24Sounds like it could be pretty good.
13:26Again, sweet and heat
13:27is a good combination,
13:28particularly when wings are concerned.
13:29It's pretty good.
13:33The wings themselves
13:34could be slightly crispier.
13:35I think an issue
13:36with these containers
13:36that they come in,
13:38which look like
13:39little alien spaceships,
13:41is that they're airtight.
13:43So when you put hot stuff in it,
13:44it just kind of steams.
13:46So I think maybe
13:47work on the vessel of delivery.
13:49But the wing itself is pretty good.
13:50It's a big wing,
13:51quite juicy.
13:52I do like the hot honey as a flavor.
13:54Not too spicy.
13:55Mostly sweet, I would say.
13:56Next up are the
13:57Buffalo Burning Hot Wings.
13:58You know it's burning hot
14:00because it's got three
14:00of these little heat symbols
14:01on the packaging.
14:03So I'm wondering
14:04if this will finally kill me off
14:06with my weak British mouth.
14:10It's definitely on the spicier side.
14:13It's that same kind of like
14:14Frank's Red Hot Buffalo
14:16type of wing sauce.
14:17This is Buffalo Burning Hot.
14:19It's on the higher end
14:20of my spice tolerance.
14:20What happened here?
14:21I don't really know.
14:22It doesn't seem like it has
14:23a lot of the sauce on it.
14:24Get a good dunk
14:25of what sauce is in the pool.
14:30This is the highest it hap.

14:32It's burning hot, apparently.

14:37Yeah, the verdict is
14:38it does build up on you
14:39a little bit,
14:40but probably not worthy

14:43we've got this
14:43Lemon Pepper Dry Rub Wing.
14:44It's not too bad.
14:48I'm not really getting
14:49that like artificial
14:49cleaning product lemon flavor
14:51that I've had in the past
14:51with some of these wings.
14:52Then finally,
14:53we have Cajun wings.
14:54I actually think
14:55they could have been
14:56even more generous
14:57with the seasoning.
14:58I think in general,
14:59the size of the wings
15:00from Pizza Hut
15:01seems to be really big.
15:02And one issue
15:03I'm running into
15:04is that that kind of like
15:05creates a different ratio
15:07of seasoning to meat.
15:09Now, while we only got
15:10four wing options today,
15:11there are a bunch more
15:11U.S. exclusive wing flavors.
15:13You can get
15:14garlic parmesan,
15:15naked wings,
15:16sweet chili wings,
15:18buffalo mild,
15:19buffalo medium,
15:20and spicy garlic.
15:21All of them can also be
15:22ordered in the form
15:22of boneless wings.
15:23Although once again,
15:24do not get naked boneless wings,
15:26just order chicken nuggets
15:27from somewhere else.
15:28Pizza Hut in the U.S.
15:29has six pasta options
15:30and I got three of them.
15:31We'll start with this one,
15:32which is the oven-baked
15:33Italian meats pasta.
15:34It seems to just be
15:35the Italian sausage
15:36and the pepperoni
15:37baked into a pasta
15:38with a tomato-y sauce.
15:44I've got issues with these.
15:46While my body and brain
15:47are screaming at me
15:48to not try any of these,
15:49I am going to have a bite
15:50in the name of science.
15:53It's kind of just the most
15:54average pasta
15:55you've ever had in your life.
15:57I think if you gave this
15:58to an Italian person,
15:59they would probably
15:59throw it in your face
16:00like a clown getting hit
16:03with a pie.
16:04Just get Italian food
16:05from somewhere else,
16:06to be honest.
16:06We also have the oven-baked
16:08cheesy Alfredo pasta,
16:09which to me looks
16:10kind of just like mac and cheese.
16:11And here we have
16:12the oven-baked veggie pasta,
16:13which is pretty much
16:14all of the veggie pizza toppings
16:15dumped on top of that pasta.
16:17In addition to that,
16:17you can get an oven-baked
16:18chicken Alfredo pasta,
16:19which I imagine is just
16:20this with some chicken,
16:21and just plain pasta
16:22with marinara sauce,
16:24if you are four years old.
16:25UK Pizza Hut sides.
16:29Here are some of the ones
16:31that they have.
16:32We got the bread chicken strips.
16:34There's also hot spicy
16:35chicken strips.
16:36Those are somewhere over here.
16:37Oh, chicken strips,
16:38chicken tenders.
16:39Breaded chicken strips.
16:40There's a bunch of dipping
16:41sauces here.
16:42I mean, it's just chicken tenders,
16:43right?
16:43I don't know what the difference
16:44between a strip and a tender is.
16:46Also for dipping sauces,
16:47barbecue, garlic, herb,
16:50sour cream and chive,
16:51and sweet chili.
16:52This is the barbecue bacon
16:54loaded mac and cheese.
16:55You should go right to jail
16:56for ordering this.
16:57There's also a carbonara
16:58loaded mac and cheese
16:59and a margarita

17:04Mac and cheese is perfectly fine.

17:07And it's weird
17:08that a pizza place
17:09is really going
17:10all in on mac and cheese.

17:12you ought to get the ovens
17:13to go ahead and bake it.
17:14I don't think I've ever
17:14put barbecue sauce
17:15on mac and cheese.
17:17Maybe I've gotten
17:18barbecue sauce on it
17:19because mac and cheese
17:20would be the side
17:21in barbecue.
17:23So I guess
17:24the logic

17:27barbecue's popular.
17:29Mac and cheese
17:30is usually
17:30on a barbecue
17:31plate
17:32along with
17:33barbecued ribs
17:34and
17:35brisket and beef
17:36and all that.
17:38So let's put
17:39the barbecue sauce
17:40on the mac and cheese.
17:42But
17:42F minus
17:43on this.
17:43This is like
17:44bleh.
17:45Uh,
17:46halloumi fries.
17:48UK,
17:48I'm about to
17:48blow your mind
17:49and tell you
17:50that halloumi
17:50is almost non-existent
17:51in America.
17:52Nobody cares about

17:54I'm not quite sure
17:55what it was
17:55until I came over here.
17:57It's good though.
17:58I actually prefer this
17:58to mozzarella sticks
17:59because the halloumi
18:00has a way better flavor
18:01to it.

18:02I think Americans
18:04would like it
18:04if it was more readily

18:05it just isn't.
18:06In the US,
18:06Pizza Hut has a bunch
18:07of breadstick options
18:08with various toppings.
18:09Again,
18:09for the UK audience,
18:10these are not breadsticks
18:11as we know them,
18:12they're kind of crunchy
18:12snack things.
18:13These are breadsticks
18:14as in basically
18:15just pieces of dough
18:16with stuff on them.
18:17There are four types
18:18of breadstick
18:18on the Pizza Hut US menu.
18:20Firstly,
18:20we just have the plain ones.
18:21Even though they're
18:21the plain ones,
18:22they do still come
18:23with quite a lot of this
18:23like garlic parmesan
18:24crust topping on them.
18:26And of course,
18:26all of these will come
18:27with a little dipping
18:28cup of marinara.
18:29Over here,
18:29we have the cheese sticks.
18:32I've told that so badly.
18:33I think Pizza Hut
18:34is cooking these
18:34in the same pans
18:35that they cook
18:36the pan pizzas in
18:37because you do get
18:37this really nice
18:38kind of crispy cheese
18:39crust on the outside.
18:42They are very bready
18:43as the name suggests.
18:45Not lying.
18:46But it's quite like
18:47a nice soft pillowy bread.
18:48In addition to
18:49the cheese breadsticks,
18:50you can also get
18:51some roasted garlic
18:52cheese sticks.
18:55That's pretty good.
18:56It is garlicky.
18:57And the final breadstick
18:58option is bacon cheddar.
18:59We love our cheddar cheese
19:00in the UK.
19:01We invented it,
19:02in fact.
19:03These are dry.
19:03You can see why
19:04you kind of need
19:05the marinara sauce
19:06to dip them in.
19:07You guys have wedges.
19:09These are the cheese
19:10and jalapeno loaded wedges
19:11smothered in cheese
19:13and jalapeno.
19:14Jalapeno?
19:14The jalapeno lobby
19:15is just killing it
19:18on this island, man.
19:19You guys can also get
19:20barbecue bacon loaded wedges
19:22and just regular potato wedges.
19:23There's also beyond
19:24Italian-style sausage
19:26hair and share topper.
19:27What is that?
19:28And a cheesy garlic

28:29but I think it'll do pretty well.
28:30Overall, I think the U.S. Pizza Hut
28:31has actually done a pretty good job.
28:33I think compared to the other pizza chains
28:34I've tried while I've been out here,
28:36this one actually might come out on top for me.
28:38I quite like that the pizzas weren't too complicated.
28:40There weren't too many toppings on them.
28:41Also, when it comes to the mains,
28:43they didn't really overcomplicate the menu.
28:44There aren't that many options.
28:46I think the emphasis on creating your own pizza
28:48is actually quite a good thing.
28:49If I had to take one thing back to the U.K.
28:51with me from the U.S. menu,
28:52I think I actually might take
28:53that hot honey double pepperoni pizza.
28:56I like the hot honey as a topping.
28:57I think it added a nice sweet heat to the pizza.
28:59And I really like those smaller crispy pepperonis
29:01and they added some nice spice,
29:03some good texture,
29:04and would definitely be welcome on the U.K. menu.
29:06If I had to cut one thing from the U.S. Pizza Hut menu,
29:09it would probably come down to
29:10either the buffalo chicken pizza
29:12that I really didn't like,
29:13or maybe those pastas
29:15because they were a little bit offensive.
