Trump takes shots at judges, the press and Harvard during Alabama commencement speech

President Donald Trump addressed the largest graduating class in the history of the University of Alabama on Thursday, May 1, in a speech that included both advice for students and a defense of his administration.

Trump applauded the university's women's track and field team and repeated his policy on transgender athletes saying "men will not play in women's sports."

He also encouraged graduates to contribute to America's growth, urging business majors to build a strong America and commending engineers, technicians, and scientists for their potential to keep the country at the forefront.

00:00This year, the graduating Alabama class of 2025 has over 6,600 graduates.
00:07You're the largest class in school history.
00:10Among your ranks are among the 800 first-generation college students
00:15and nearly 3,000 students from right here in the great state of Alabama.
00:22Amazing.
00:23And this class also includes many Rhodes Scholars, Goldwater Scholars, 213 Merit Scholars,
00:36and over 1,500 students graduating with red caps.
00:39You know what that signifies?
00:414.0 GPA.
00:43That's a lot of students.
00:46Congratulations as well to the women's track and field team for winning two SEC titles this year.
00:52That's something.
00:54As long...
00:54And as long as I'm president, we will always protect women's sports.
01:01Men will not play in women's sports.
01:04They say that's an 80-20 issue.
01:06No, it's a 97-3 issue, I think.
01:09No, men will not be playing in women's sports.
01:13I already...
01:14I said that and I classified it with a very powerful executive order, as you know.
01:19It's done.
01:19We're here for three months, a little bit more, but give me a break for the first month.
01:23You know, had to get a little acclimated.
01:25Had to see where the enemy lies, because they're already looking to impeach Trump.
01:29You know, these crazy people.
01:30Let's impeach them.
01:31For what?
01:31We don't know exactly, but we'll try...
01:34These people are crazy.
01:36So we had to, you know, get our bearings for the first couple of weeks.
01:39But they have to let us do the job that the voters want us to do.
01:44Judges are interfering, supposedly based on due process.
01:49But how can you give due process to people who came into our country illegally?
01:53They want to give them due process.
01:55I don't know.
01:57You learned a lot about winning here in Alabama.
02:00And now we need you to help win for America.
02:05For the business majors here today, I challenge you not merely to use your talents for financial
02:12speculation, but to apply your great skills that you've learned and had to forging the
02:19steel and pouring the concrete of new American factories, plants, shipyards, and even cities,
02:24which are going up all over our country.
02:27Don't just build a strong portfolio.
02:30Build a very, very strong America.
02:32And you're going to do that.
02:40To the engineers, brilliant you are, technicians, scientists, and math majors,
02:46engineers, we need your Alabama spirit and competition to keep our country at the forefront
02:52of every single domain.
02:55America should have the world's tallest buildings, design the fastest airplanes, build the greatest
03:01cars, do everything the absolute best, better than any other nation in the world.
03:06And you can do it.
03:07And we will soon land American astronauts on Mars.
03:10That will happen.
03:11That will happen.
03:12In every field you have studied, there are problems to be solved and breakthroughs to be
03:24made.
03:25To the journalism majors, of which I've had a lot of problems with.
03:31I must be honest.
03:32I'm not sure I like them.
03:33No, I do.
03:34I do.
03:34But you're really leading a very thing because we need a great and free press.
03:40We need a brilliant press.
03:41They're like a watchkeeper.
03:43They're very important.
03:44And you can go out and take it down a new track.
03:47Help save the country.
03:50So to everyone here today, don't waste your youth.
03:53Go out and fight right from the beginning, from the day you leave this incredible university.
03:58Go out and fight.
03:59Fight tough.
04:00Fight fair.
04:01But go out and fight.
04:02You're going to be very successful because now is the time to work harder than you have
04:06ever worked before.
04:08Push yourself further than you have ever pushed yourself before.
04:12Find your limits and then smash through everything.
04:16Go and smash through.
04:18You've watched that football team smash through.
04:20You're going to do the same thing.
04:32Go and smash through.
04:46You
