00:05agent dead. Hannah Whitworth is in L.A. with more. Good morning, Hannah.

00:09Yeah, Michael, good morning. And we're now hearing from Jeff Spurbeck's wife,

00:12Corey, in a statement remembering him as a husband, father, brother, and son,

00:17and saying they're grieving right now alongside their dearest friends, the Elways.

00:24This morning, authorities investigating a tragic golf cart accident involving

00:28Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway and his longtime friend and business partner,

00:32Jeff Spurbeck, who died from his injuries. This morning, Elway, who was behind the wheel,

00:37according to witnesses, reacting in a statement saying, in part,

00:41I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken. There are no words to truly express the profound

00:46sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me.

00:51Witnesses describing a chaotic scene in the exclusive Madison Club in La Quinta,

00:56California near Palm Springs. It was so scary. I mean, it like it was nothing like we've ever

01:02seen. You just don't think that you're going to ever witness anything like that. But his wife was

01:07like hysterical. They were reportedly leaving a party after attending the Stagecoach Music Festival

01:13on Saturday with their spouses when Spurbeck fell from the golf cart and hit his head,

01:19according to TMZ. He was unfortunately lying on the ground and there were people surrounding him

01:25just trying to make sure he was OK. She says Elway was calling for help. He was on the phone

01:31trying to call 911, call anyone. The 62-year-old passing away four days later. Back in the 90s,

01:39Spurbeck was Elway's agent and the quarterback went on to win two Super Bowls in his 16 seasons with

01:45Denver Broncos. The pair then starting a winery together. And driving golf carts is commonplace

01:54in this gated community. And the Riverside Sheriff's Office is investigating. They said

01:58they will take appropriate action based on the outcome. But according to TMZ, it does not appear

02:03that Elway was driving negligently at the time. Guys. Yeah, thank you very much.
