00:00And I am so proud to be here today and yield to my good friend, the senator from Delaware, Senator Lisa Lund-Rochester.
00:14Thank you, guys.
00:15Leader Schumer, Leader Jeffries, thank you for gathering us all here today on this beautiful, beautiful afternoon.
00:30As a former member of the House of Representatives and as a new member of the United States Senate,
00:40I have to say to everybody, I don't know about you, but when I look back and see this crowd, this is a beautiful sight to behold.
00:50Democrats coming together across the Capitol.
00:55So I start off by saying it's good to see you.
00:58It's good to be with you.
01:00It's good to be in the fight together.
01:02All of us represent millions of Americans across this country.
01:06From every single corner of this country, we have constituents who may have different voices, may look different, may have different beliefs and face different challenges every day.
01:19But there are two things that we are united on.
01:22One is that we love this country.
01:25Get that straight.
01:27We love this country.
01:29And for so many of our constituents, and for us, we feel a sense of urgency in this moment.
01:39100 days.
01:43Some of you may recall, if you know me, that in 2016 I was elected, having never run for anything in my life.
01:50And I came to the House of Representatives in the minority.
01:56Right, Speaker Pelosi?
01:58I was in the minority.
02:00I was, I came with Donald Trump.
02:04And so for me, this is not new.
02:08We made sure that we, every attempt to repeal, replace, tear up the Affordable Care Act, we did not let that happen because the people did not let that happen.
02:19And today, I am here as a United States Senator, in the minority, temporarily.
02:27I'm going to say that again, temporarily.
02:29Temporarily.
02:31And also with Donald Trump.
02:35And I have a message to my Republican colleagues.
02:38When I first came in, the word was unprecedented, but now the words are uncertain, chaotic, confused, and corrupt.
02:50Those are the words.
02:52And so to my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, I say on this 101st day, there is an adage.
03:01The truth shall set you free.
03:05The truth shall set you free.
03:07A hundred days into this presidency, we've gone from three years of solid growth in our economy to the steepest decline that we've seen since the pandemic.
03:19That's the truth.
03:20Groceries are up.
03:21Retirement savings are down.
03:23That's the truth.
03:24Outbreaks of measles and the avian flu.
03:27That's the truth.
03:29It costs more to build, buy, or to rent a home.
03:35It's the truth.
03:36American citizens, including two-year-olds and kids with cancer, are being deported without due process.
03:44That's the truth.
03:46There are wars around the world.
03:47There's chaos at the Pentagon, and our allies are losing trust in us.
03:51Anybody remember Signal Gate 1 and the sequel of Signal Gate 2?
03:55And don't forget the Department of Inefficiency, breaking our government while they're stealing your data.
04:04It's been a long 100 days, but make no mistake.
04:08Democrats are going to continue to fight, and each of us must do our part in this moment.
04:15We will sit in, right, Corey, to protect Medicaid and the millions of Americans who rely on it.
04:23We will stand up for justice and the rule of law and due process.
04:27We will march for our rights, and across the Capitol and across the country, we will lock arms against hate, corruption, and darkness.
04:36We do this because this is our country.
04:42We do this because this is our democracy.
04:45And we do this because we recognize that we are all in this together.
04:52And so I close with the song, but I'm not singing.
05:01I close with the song that I think represents what you see behind you.
05:07The song that is sung and danced to at every black family reunion.
05:12We are family, and we've got your back, American families.
05:17Yeah!
05:18Woo!
