00:00Without objection, the gentleman is recognized for one minute.
00:04Mr. Speaker, history has taught us time and time again that appeasement in the face of aggression and evil only invites more aggression.
00:13We saw it in the 1930s, and we're seeing echoes of it in the Trump administration's actions today.
00:19When we hesitate to support Ukraine, we drag our feet or allow political infighting to stall critical aid,
00:26we are sending a dangerous message to autocrats, especially China.
00:30Vladimir Putin invaded a sovereign democracy.
00:34He is betting that the free world will grow tired, that we will turn inward, and we will look away.
00:39We cannot let that happen.
00:41Standing with Ukraine is not charity.
00:44It is deterrence in our national security interest.
00:47If we do not stand with Ukraine, eventually American troops will be forced to fight aggressors in East Asia or Europe.
00:53Deterrence is the key to putting them in our national security first.
00:58Appeasement failed the world before.
01:00We cannot afford to repeat that mistake.
01:03I yield back.
01:04For what purpose does the gentlewoman from New York seek recognition?
