00:00All security personnel of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA are no longer
00:05allowed to touch travelers' passports. The rule applies when a passenger enters any NAIA terminal
00:10and when they go through security verification. NAIA's new private operator, New NAIA Infra
00:16Corporation, says passengers will be asked to show their valid ID or travel document by holding
00:20it up themselves. This comes over a week after a passenger was initially denied a boarding pass
00:26by a Cebu Pacific ground staff because of a small tear in his passport. But when the passenger tried
00:31checking in via the senior citizen counter, the person was issued a boarding pass. The passenger
00:36still ended up being blocked from boarding the plane to Indonesia. Some airport staff said his
00:40passport was fine, causing further confusion. The passenger's family alleged the ground staff may
00:46have caused the small tear. Following the incident, the transportation department tells airlines to
00:51make sure their personnel do not tamper with passports.
