Experimentation time again. My idea for an amusing "dance video" set to Billy Idol's first major hit.
The song's history is a bit convoluted, so I will allow Wikipedia to take over this time:
"Dancing with Myself" is a song by the punk rock band Gen X, first commercially released in the United Kingdom in October 1980, where it reached number 62 on the singles chart. It was remixed and re-released by the band's singer/frontman Billy Idol as a solo artist in the United States in 1981, where the song reached number 27 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. On the U.S. Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles, it reached Number 102.
Back to me. It got a lot of air play despite not actually making the traditional Top 100 charts by Billboard and Cash Box. "Hot In The City" would do much better the following year, and "White Wedding" the year after that. But it would be "Eyes Without A Face" that would finally land the singer in both Top Tens at Number 4.
